The Best View

Stayed for 2 days and we never wanted to leave the hotel because our view was fantastic. The Capitol at night was a great view as we fell asleep. The room was large, the beds were comfortable and the bathroom was beautiful.

The Staff was courteous and helpful. Room Service came right on time and the service was incredible.

First off, we chose this hotel (Fiancee and I) just for a simple getaway. This hotel is about 5 or 6 blocks away from the greyhound station, (very deserted if walking at night until you get to the circle). Very nice outside, staff was very quick with check in, explained to us that since we booked through their website we are entitled to free breakfast, she gave our free vouchers for both days and sent us on our way.

The best thing about this hotel that I have never seen before was the security feature. You have to swipe you card in the elevator in order to get to your designated floor which was great because that means any old person can't get upstairs, at least not with ease.

The lobby is gorgeous, the bar area looked nice with a tv playing ESPN and a pool table.

The rooms: Quite small. Clean although the bath had brown stains on the floor. Bathrooms were gorgeous and very spacious. Very limited amount of channels on the television...ran out of things to watch...fast.

View: none. Our view was of a square of other rooms and the elevators.

Breakfast was very nice, we did the buffet both days and it was pretty tasty, our servers were very nice. Management is also very very nice.

Its a couple of blocks away from union station, a very short walk, plenty of food places on the lower level, we ate ate Pizzeria Unos and had a very good meal.

No nearby food places, we got in @ 9:30 on friday night and the deli on the corner was closed, around 10:30pm when Fiancee went out for something to eat he was pretty much told everything was closed, including the grill in the restaurant, etc. He ended up getting a menu for a restaurant for takeout that was open until 5am...food was pretty good for a late night hunger attack.

Overall, enjoyed our time, but I don't think we could have endured an extended stay. Any questions, just email.

Great weekend deal at The Washington Court

I booked a last minute weekend trip using the hotel's website. They offered a special weekend rate which included breakfast each day. The hotel is located blocks from the Capital and Union Station. The staff was attentive and courteous. The room was spacious and well appointed. Opted not to use the valet service because local garages were much cheaper. The only downside was the breakfast service which was slow due to the number of guests vs. wait staff. Will definitely stay there again.

Got a great price on priceline, so the hotel was absolutely worth it. Newly renovated, spotless room, well decorated. Staff is not exactly plentiful or efficient. It took ten minutes to check in because there was only one person on staff Saturday afternoon.
The problem is that the hotel is in a wasteland area between the Capitol and Union Station. One Irish bar around the corner, a brewery across from the station, but you really need to leave the neighborhood for food, shops of any kind, entertainment, etc. And quite deserted at night. Hotel restaurants expensive, breakfast was only decent.
Only a 5 minute walk to Union Station/Metro.

The Washington Court was a good choice for us. We had spent 6 weeks travelling around the States and wanted a hotel close to Union station (as we caught an Amtrak from NY). This location was ideal. We walked with our bags to the hotel. The room was spacious and clean, bathroom also large and clean. We did not use the dining facilities as a bit too expensive, however the union station had many cheap table service restaurants, so we ate there. We spent two days visiting the sights and were picked up by the tour companies at the Holiday Inn which is a close walk. All in all a good experience. We would stay here again.

The room at this hotel was massive, and the bed was one of the most comfortable i've slept in. Spotless too. Location wise, it's pretty near the Capitol, Union Station and the Supreme Court and as a result not too near the museums on the mall, but otherwise, this is a fantastic hotel.

This hotel compares favorably with a Hyatt or Marriott. It is close to Union Station (Amtrak) and its Metro stop. I booked a room on-line at a nice weekend rate with breakfast buffet included. The room was spacious, the bathroom fine. The lobby is gorgeous and a pleasure to return to after a hot, busy day in the city. I thought the restaurant was quite expensive, but on a par with the nearby Hyatt.

We made reservations for two double beds in advance. However, when we arrived at the hotel we were told that the "reservations" weren't really reservations. They just assured us a room, not any particular one. We were told that we could have a king bed room. However, it was myself, my husband and our two children. Not too comfortable for us on our vacation??? After a few minutes and some cross words, we were told that they could look for us another room in another hotel where we couldn't get the same rate offered to us originally or we could take the king size room and get a free breakfast. However, they was a room that mysteriously opened up a few minutes later that had a king size bed and a pull out sofa. Why didn't they offer that before??? Way too much of an inconvenience for us. Also, we paid upfront with cash for everything-room and parking. We got a bill on checkout day however for an additional 200.00. What is that??? I spoke with the manager and she said she had made a mistake adding up our bill. Hers not our mistake!! I argued with her and the other front desk employees. They said she had forgotten to charge us for parking and that instead of giving us the original rate we had first reserved, she had given us a cheaper rate and forgotten to charge us tax. She said that she could not explain this to her boss and would get fired if she sold us the room for that price. Why should we have to pay for her mistakes, especially when they found this out on our checkout day, and everyone knows you spend the majority of your money during your vacation and you don't always have extra to pay for mistakes made by your hotel. So I explained to them that I had paid for parking up front -the manager had taken care of this because you can't park here without either paying up front or putting it on your credit card. We paid CASH. So I agreed to pay the difference in the room and the taxes but nothing else. I only did this to be a good person even though it was their mistake and not ours. WE SHOULDN'T BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THEIR MISTAKES!!! Anyway, when we got home, I checked my credit card balance online and found out that not only had they charged me for the difference in the room, but they had also charged me additional amount for parking that I had already paid for. I even have the receipt showing a zero balance, but they charged me anyway without my knowledge or consent. DO NOT STAY HERE!!!! STAY AWAY!!!! The service is horrible. The management has no clue. I am still trying to get my account credited from this hotel. Please take my advice. They hotel looks nice on the outside but you can find so much better.

I was pleased with my room, which I had requested non-smoking and they were able to accommodate me with a quiet room at the corner of the 5th level. The room was nicely decorated and the bed was comfortable. The staff was attentive and room service was timely except for one evening when they said they had a large order ahead of mine. I would definitely stay here again. The location is great; close to Union Station and the Capitol.

Capital This hotel is literally 2 blocks from the Capital. I was able to access all the main sites in DC without getting on the metro.

The International Spy Museum - Not What We Bargained For I'm disappointed to have to write this but the International Spy Museum, which I thought would be really cool and exciting was a bust. it was packed to the gills with people and many of the attractions were very child oriented. In addition, in a city full of free museums, this one was $16 pp which is pretty expensive. Time is much better spent at a free Smithsonian, on the Mall, or in one of the other phenomenal federal buildings.

Use it! Use the public transport to get around. The Metro underground trains are very cheap, clean, safe and very easy to use. Our first attempt to use the ticket machines was soon noticed by station staff and help offered very quickly. The "Circulator" bus is also very cheap ($1) and they run on 3 seperate routes.
