Service with a Smile
from Aero3926Downside: The one meal I attempted to eat at the hotel was breakfast. I wished to order from the menu rather than have the buffet, but could not get anyone to take my order. No bathtub (should that be important to you, there may be rooms that have one, but mine did not). I don't expect linens to be changed daily, but did expect that a bath linen on the floor would be replaced. I had to request. No coffee in room.
Still Going through some growing pains
from blue000--Location - right in the heart of Dupont. Metro, shops, bookstores, everything within two minutes reach
--Rooms - open, spacious modem design. A large desk if you need to work, lots space to move around, a good firm bed.
--Small bottle of Kiehl's shampoo, conditioner, body lotion and bath gel
--Free in-room internet
The not so good:
--Drilling and hammering painfully loud -- like a dentist drilling holes into your teeth. The hotel is under some sort of construction, and drilling and banging sounds like it's going on right in your room. Were it not for the construction, I would have rated the hotel higher. I asked to move rooms, but same noises in the new room.
-- Spotty wifi access. The first room I stayed at on the 7th floor did not have wifi
--No coffee making facilities in room. It's a small thing, but something I enjoy in rooms.
--Refrigerators "on request only"
Very Nice - FANTASTIC Location
from PlayaDelCarmenFreakBath products are Kiehls - how fantastic is that? There is a safe in the room, great bedding. Heated floor in the bathroom (Spa Shower) - Excellent! Great free Internet in the Business Center and wireless from our room on the 4th floor.
We will return for sure if I can afford it once it catches on. We had the $155 per night Cherry Blossom special rate – very worth the money.
Convenient location, gorgeous design, I love it!
from nikita58467The dupont circle is gorgous and the hotel is right in the circle! There's a books-a-million across the street and 24HR CVS across the circle. There are tons of restuarants and shops around. We walked all the way down from the hotel to the monuments although the metro is right across the circle. Since I'm from NYC and love to walk everywhere, it didn't take us long and the city was beautiful.
Back to the hotel. The room isn't the biggest I've seen but it's very comfy for a couple. Fresh paint smell, nice ipod speaker, flat screen and the set of Kiehl's body care just won over me immediately! Seriously, the set would cost about 30 dollars alone in the store! Of course, the bed is super comfy and the bedding are very soft! The bathroom area has a quite unique design. I've seen this type of design in the W hotel in Time Square. Only good for couples 'cause there's really no privacy. I love it anyway! The stone floor has a heating system so it won't be freezing to walk on. The only thing I was disappointed was the lack of coffee machine in the room but the Caribou coffee is about 10 mins walk away so it's totally cool (Starbucks is right next to the hotel too).
The hallway to our room has a beautiful layout. The round lightings, velvet wall paper and lush carpet, I just love them! I wouldn't think that we can afford this but with $150 bucks a night, everything included, this is definitely the best bargain I've seen for a few years! It was half of the normal price from the website due to the grand opening. Oh, for the valvet parking, Expedia said it's 25 dollars but we end up paying about $35 a night including tax. It's no biggie but we saw some free street parking for the weekend if people are willing to walk a bit or just find a garage near by which probably costs less than 20 dollars a day for the weekend. There's a garage right across the street but I'm not sure how much it costs.
There is also a bar dupont in the hotel. We didn't go in but it looked really nice and a lot of trendy looking people going in and out.
I definitely want to go back to the dupont soon! It feels so good to just lay on the bed and relax! Also no one can beat the convenience!
Great stay at The Dupont Hotel
from queso123I'm looking forward to my next visit to DC as I will be staying at this hotel again - and I'm sure when I come back the hotel will be perfect then.
great location, decent room
from leokittywe would probably stay here again, it's close to everything and the staff is nice.
relaxing stay
from febjabaWorthy successor to Jurys Washington Hotel
from donwest48The hotel reopened on Monday and I was there on Friday for the first weekend of receiving guests.
Jurys Washington had been one of my favorite DC hotels, and perhaps my favorite hotel location in DC. I think guests will be pleased with the brightened up rooms and public spaces.
The front desk staff is excellent and service oriented. I had an opportunity to speak by telephone with Kent prior to my arrival and he volunteered his name and said he looked forward to my arrival later that evening. Eduardo was equally as kind at my check-out.
Bell-staff services, including valet parking, went smoothly.
By the way, for previous Jurys regulars, I did not recognize any employee from the old name. Was the hotel closed so long the employees had to find employment elsewhere? I do not know the background there, and perhaps some employees were brought forward whom I did not see this weekend.
We had 2 rooms -- 304 and 306 -- and both were clean as you would expect--we were were probably the first guests to inhabit them. Those rooms have king beds and are not particularly large. The view into the center of the hotel's 'V' is mostly heating and airconditioning machinery a level below. The opening of the center 'V' does allow generous light to enter. (I like the rooms on 19th Street overlooking Starbucks, Kramerbooks, Afterwords Cafe, and so on, or ones over New Hampshire or towards the Circle.)
No tub in these rooms, only a shower, which was wonderful, even though some water splatters just a bit into the toilet area. No problem, though.
Summary: I think The Dupont Hotel just might continue being my preferred location in DC.
You can name other hotels in DC with some individual features that are better, I'm sure, but overall, The Dupont Hotel is a very good, solid choice, and I recommend it.
I ate one evening dinner in the new restaurant and it was very good, but I will not do a detailed review now.
Fresh bright property and staff in perfect Dupont Circle location
from gofkJust getting started, but good potential
from NYC244On one hand, I'm sure opening a hotel takes massive coordination and effort, and you have to give them some slack. The Dupont was much more polished during this first week than Donovan House after a much longer gestations. On the other hand, this hotel is part of a chain that I would have expected to suppor the opening a little better than this.
I may try the Dupont again. It does have some nice touches and overall I like the style of the place. But I think I'll wait a while to see how it evens out.
On behalf of our entire team at The Dupont Hotel I would like to thank you very much for taking the time to post your concerns and observations of our new property.
The Dupont Hotel has just completed a major renovation programme and we continue to develop with our new 9th floor opening this June. Top Local Tips for Washington
Get to your airport 2 hours ahead of time... You have three options to fly from: Regan, Dulles, and BWI airports. During our trip, we flew in and out of BWI (Baltimore Washington International) via Southwest Airlines. We got there about two hours before our flight. We were very surprised that the line to check-in was so long. It took us 30 minutes to get checked-in and we were at the shortest line. If you can get away with carrying-on your luggage, then you can skip the check-in line and go straight to security check.
Restrooms Ladies especially - carry tissues with you. At the end of the day, many of the National Park Service restrooms at the monuments were yucky and many stalls had no toilet paper The Smithsonian Air & Space museum had 6 or 8 stalls, and at 45 minutes before closing no t.p. in any of them. Seems like no one checks any of them very regularly.
Great Location Weekend special rate: I will return.
