ll never stay here again

I stayed at the Jurys Normandy recently, and I can honestly say I was disappointed. The hotel was clean, but the lack of working amenities and overly disinterested staff ruined my trip.
In particular, I was dismayed by the lack of working heating/ac controls in the rooms. When I dropped my bags off in the mid-afternoon, I noticed the room was a little warm – so I set the thermostat to “cool.” When I came back later that night, the room was sweltering. The front desk clerk told me the individual controls don’t work, and that I should turn off the thermostat and open my window.
When I told him that was unacceptable, he promised to call me back – and never did.
The next morning, I took my car out of the remarkably tiny garage, only to find that all of the spots were taken when I got back. The clerk apologized dismissively, and told me to look for street parking.
It is next to impossible to find street parking after 7 pm in this area of DC, so I was stuck driving around for nearly a half-hour before finding a metered spot and running the very real risk of getting a ticket.
Those two events, coupled with the brick-like bed, make me never want to stay at this hotel again.

Best Little Hotel In Washington

We stayed at the Jury's Normandy this summer and loved our stay. This is a small very friendly hotel. The first night we had trouble with our mattress and when we advised the manager of the problem, a new one was provided for us.
The hotel has a small outside patio which we enjoyed every night we were there. The location was great. A few minute walk to the subway system (on some days we walked from the hotel to the Mall area) and close to some great restaurants.
Will stay here on my next visit to Washington.

Often great deals for this nice hotel with great location

Was able to get a room for $69 through expedia.com (use TripAdvisor's rate check function!). The hotel was very nice with modern rooms that were well-furnished. The location is wonderful--next to Dupont Circle, adjacent to Embassy Row, two to three minute walk to Metro station. You can do some excellent people-watching at Dupont if you so desire. The parking garage is across the street and costs $14 per day.
My only complaint was that the hotel staff didn't seem to give me as good a service as other hotel guests--I assume due to my expedia rate.
Nonetheless, I would definitely stay there again.

Perfect location for Dupont Circle restaurants & shopping. Safe and nice Embassy neighborhood. Elegant and yet comfortable design and decor with sitting rooms and a mini-courtyard as well as a nice sunken garden at the entrance. Clean rooms. Great value for your dollar in this city.
Excellent Value, Great Staff

I stayed at this hotel for two weeks when I moved from Australia to Washington DC. I chose it because it was one of the cheaper hotels going around on Expedia, and I wasn't expecting much from the place.
However, I was extremely pleasantly suprised. The hotel is very nice, and the room was clean and big enough to not get claustrophobic after 2 weeks. The location is great, walking distance to Dupont Circle and Adams Morgan for the nightlife, and 10 mins to the Metro for exploring.
The best part however was the staff employed by the hotel. As a new arrival to Washington and the US I was pretty overwhelmed for the first week. The staff always went out of their way to help, suggesting places to eat/drink and filling me in on local events and knowledge.
When I found an apartment and moved out, they didn't charge me for that day, even though I checked out at 7.30pm. The hotel and amenities are good, but the staff are great. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone.

Excellent location with a wide selection of restaurants and shops only a couple of blocks away and walking distance to the subway station at Dupont Circle. Elegantly styled boutique hotel with an old world charm but most important the rooms and bathrooms were spotlessly clean and the perfect size. The hotel staff were very helpful and accomodating too. Stayed here in August 6-8, 2004 and it made my visit to Washington DC more memorable.

I found the location to be good, the staff friendly and helpful, the parking garage a challenge (we were given an SUV instead of a mini van at the rental place) and the rooms clean although a bit too "perfumed". It was a good value. If you want fancy, you'll have to pay dearly for it in DC.

Ok, I will give an "average" rating, but I found the room size less than I was accustomed to even in DC. Parking availability was less--make that non-existent my first night! (I had to go around the corner to the Courtyard Marriott garage; nothing on the street anywhere.) Location was less convenient for my personal preferences. Staff friendliness and helpfulness was less than I get at Jurys other two DC properties. Maybe the Normandy staff is much warmer with its regulars. Please understand, this is a good hotel. Apparently its just not for me. July 24-25, 2004, Room 408.

This little hotel is a real find. It is just off Connecticut Avenue, yet very quiet. The air conditioning is quiet and efficient, which is a MUST in Washington in the summer. 10 minute walk to Dupont Circle, 10 to Adams Morgan, 10 to Woodley. Rooms are small but super clean, bathrooms spotless. Rooms come with one queen or two twins. The rooms on the front and at the back of the building seem larger. Free high-speed internet service in each room. The breakfast area/sunroom downstairs is a nice touch; continental breakfast is only six dollars. Free cookies and coffee throughout the day. Desk staff very nice. Some parking available in the basement garage, but ask in advance. Expedia often has this hotel for $69-99; it simply CANNOT be beaten at that price. Take it if it's offered!

What a surprise! We where in MD for a family reunion and decided to stop in DC for 2 days. We had our own SUV and all my family strongly advised againist staying in DC with a car - or DC alone. Much to our surprise, Jury's was a quiant inn located off Embassy Row. The location was FANTASTIC to the DC sites (if you had a car or taxi). Parking was around $15 daily - and never had a problem finding a space. The inn is smaller, however, the rooms were clean and the staff friendly. They even served complementary wine and cheese on Tuesday. I was so comfortable in the area, that I even took several strolls to the closest 7-11 about 3 blocks away. Great hotel at a great price. Check their site for specials. We found it for $76 a night in the middle of August. I would definately stay there again and again! I have recommended to all my family if you are looking for a quiet, inn type hotel. If you are looking for hotel extras, look elsewhere (Hilton)

Open Bus Tour The open bus tour is a must, I was hear on business and have an evening appointment so spent the day on an open top bus tour looking at the sites, it's a must
Stay away from the SuperShuttle!! We booked the SuperShuttle, but it took us over two hours to travel the 35 miles from BWI to Dupont Circle -for $55 for the two of us. Much better to take the shuttle to the commuter rail, MARC train to Union Station and then Metro to your hotel. We did that on departure, and it took an hour and cost less than $15. Plus, we did not feel held captive by an unresponsive driver who played a religious music radio station, took illegal turns and refused to answer questions.
