Room smelled like body odor

from mlasser
I checked in. No upgrades available for Platinum members due to all rooms being blocked. The room they gave me reeked of body odor. It smelled like a stinky person rubed themselves on every surface. Since they were all booked, they couldn't offer another roon so I left.

nice hotel, conviniently located

from gulig
Very nice hotel: comfortable small clean rooms, small fridge comfy beds. Friendly staff and very close to convention center. The breakfast was extremely disappointing. I would recommend for business travelers.

Clean, but not as advertised.

from LMPego
The cleaning staff here was superb! Our room was big enough, great bed, and great shower. I can't begin to say enough about how clean it was, and believe me we were looking for dirt after reading some of the reviews.

One of the reasons I booked this hotel, however, was because they advertise that the rooftop pool has a view of the Capitol - it does not! It may have before they built tall buildings completely surrounding the hotel, but not anymore. Also, there is no hot tub by the pool and you definitely need one after walking the city all day.

The location is great. We were just diagonally across the park from the McPherson Square Metro station. There are a lot of homeless people that live in the park, but we never felt like we weren't safe.

However, for the price, I would not stay at this hotel again. I would try another Four Points Sheraton again in another city.

After a long and exhaustive search on the internet I have found the website that misrepresented our hotel by advertising we have a roof top pool with views of the capitol building. We have spoken to the operators of the website and we are currently working with them to correct their information.

Terrific Location and Well Worth the Price!

from JAS576
Booked here for the Memorial Day weekend and was NOT disappointed! I meet a friend in DC every year at this time, and we wanted to stay right in the middle of things....this place was perfect, and we got it at quite a rate. Check the online discounts before booking!

The room was small, but very clean. The beds were large, but pretty uncomfortable. Amenities were terrific and it was nice to have a fridge in the room (empty, thank goodness!) that we could fill with sodas and snacks.

The public areas are all lovely and very welcoming and the staff was very freindly.

And what can you say about the location? The walk to the Metro is healthy, but very do-able and the Metro Center station is located on two of the lines that will take you just about anywhere in the area you need to see.

Lots of dining options around, and be sure to check out the Sunday Jazz brunch at Georgia Brown's! It's only two blocks away!

Not as Reserved

I had read reviews about this Hotel before my trip and I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt. being a Preferred Plus Starwood Preferred Guest. When I had arrived late Saturday Night Memorial Day weekend, the room I had reserved almost eleven (11) weeks earlier was not available. I had also indicated on the reservation form my flight number, airline, and arrival time. I also followed up with a telephone call to confirm my Non-Smoking King Bed room. At the front desk they told me that they would give me a Non-Smoking Queen Bed on the Club Floor and upgrade me to a King Bed the next night. I told them that would be acceptable as the person I was originally going to be traveling with was not able to make the trip and I would be OK with the Queen bed for my full stay. After unpacking and hanging all my clothes and placing the others in the drawers I discovered that the in room safe was locked in the open position. I called down to the front Desk and they said that Engineering could not help me until the next day. I finally got undressed and hoped into bed only to discover that it was a Double/Full bed not a Queen as I was told. The next morning I called down to the Front Desk and they sent Engineering right up to unlock the safe. After about ten minutes they were able to figure out how to do it. I then went to the front desk and discussed the bed situation. They looked up the room on the computer and said it was a Queen. I said I do not know what you call a queen bed in Washington DC but it is not. I also said that I had made my reservation almost eleven (11) weeks before and had indicated on my reservation form my arrival time. Odette at the front desk said she would adjust my rate down $20.00 a night. I said that would be acceptable. The next day I checked my folio online at the hotel and she did not adjust the night before. I went back to the Front Desk and asked about that and what benefits I received on the Club Floor. Michael at the Front Desk said there were no benefits on the Club Floor as I was not a Gold or Platinum Preferred Guest and he then made another adjustment for the next night to offset the first night.

It has been close to a year since our management company took over the hotel, and we are still finding and correcting mistakes from previous management. One of the major mistakes we found was a few rooms were mislabeled in our system. We have gone thru the long process of taking inventory of every room, comparing them to what is labeled, and then submitting the mistakes to the corporate office to correct the room labels in our system. Our system is now corrected so this mistake can be avoided in the future.

Nice, clean -- but small rooms

from A TripAdvisor Member
I agree that the rooms are small. I had a king bed, and plenty of room, but if you have two beds, it would be cramped! It's somewhat noisy if you are located adjacent to a room with kids (or a fighting married couple like I was next to). However, staff is a delight and will make every attempt to move you to another room. All staff at this hotel is great! Ranks right up there with some of the top name hotels! The hotel is very clean and I will definitely stay again. Close to the downtown area and convention center. Very nice neighborhood.

Give it a go!

from Holidays-R-Good
Enjoyed staying at this hotel dispite noise from construction site across the street. Room though a little on the smaller side was comfortable. Staff were helpful. Didn't eat in, as many decent restaurants nearby. Bar ok. Used roof top pool, only thing with that is changing room is several floors down. Subway within walking distance as were most of the main attractions for sight seeing. And yes, I would stay here again.

Loved it!

from A TripAdvisor Member
I loved my room at this hotel. But, I must be sure to point out that they gave me one of the suites as I had reserved a non-smoking room and by the time I checked in they didn't have any left. I said I couldn't stay in a smoking room and the suite they gave me was just gorgeous! Unfortunately, on a return visit, I probably wouldn't be able to afford a suite. The bathroom was very luxurious and I had the most incredible view of the park. I was attending a conference and was very happy with the services. The location was convenent...not far from shops and restaurants.

Not worth the price

Hotel Stay: July 6 - 10, 2004

When we first checked in we noticed that there was yogurt and a Styrofoam takeout container with food in our refreshment bar so we called the Front Desk to have housekeeping take it out. Well, they didn't take it out the first night when we came back to our room after sightseeing. The next day we left a note for housekeeping to remove the food in the refreshment bar while we went out. When we came back the food was still in the bar!!! My husband called the Front Desk again to have someone remove the food. The housekeeping manager came up to our room to remove the food and brushed off the mistake by saying that the housekeeping staff do not understand English. My husband grumbled with her but she stuck to her story. We also got a room next to the maid's closet so we heard the door banging early in the morning and at night. When I called the Front Desk to ask if there was a charge for the el-safe, the manager couldn't understand what I was asking. She couldn't understand the word "fee." She told me to wait on the line so that I could talk to the other manager who was on another line. Since the wait was too long, I said that I would call back. When I called Housekeeping, I found that the line was connected to the Front Desk, so I got the same manager that couldn't understand English. The other manager (English speaking) finally got off the other phone and explained to me that there was no charge for the el-safe. The toilet was dirty when we checked in. Also when we checked in again from July 12 - 13, 2004, one of the coffee cups contained another guest's dried up toothpaste! Yuck! I didn't bother calling Housekeeping about the dirty cup, instead I just laughed. On the good side... this hotel has very nice comfortable beds and it is located in the downtown area, close to the metrorail. The hotel has a very nice lobby and the rooms are rather stylish. We will definitely stay at another hotel in D.C. if we visit again.

Disappointing

from A TripAdvisor Member
Was in DC for convention. Booked what was advertised as a spacious, recently remodeled executive room. Wound up being one of the smallest rooms I've had in a long time, down an odd set of stairs. Felt absolutely claustrophobic. Super tiny bathroom too. Very unhelpful staff when I had problems with my internet connections. Deferred maintenance even though it was recently remodeled. Noisy too. Construction going on across the street. I found a great deal at the Grand Hyatt and switched after 2 days. That was wonderful.
