First of all let me start off by saying I have never felt obligated to write a review in the past. This hotel was the best representation of false advertising I have ever encountered. The hotels location was horrid it was in the middle of the ghetto. The hotel looked okay from outside and the lobby was in descent shape the hotel staff at check in was extremely rude. Our room was okay with a newer sleep number bed and it was clean when we got there. The pool area was the most disgusting thing I have ever seen the smell of mold and mildew alone could knock you out, rust stains all over the wall and towels that could double as a face cloth. Also they did not clean our room after our first day there even after we asked the maid in the hallway if she would. My fiancee and got back to the hotel at about 11:30pm our last night there our room key didnt work we had to go back down to the lobby and wait for 25 minutes for someone to show up when she did she was dispondant and mean but she did give us a working room key . The rest of the stay was un eventful we left the next day unhappy.

Public spaces were clean and attactive. Asked for a non-smoking room. Hallway outside the room was extremely smokey smelling as was the room. Turn off for me if I can't get a requested non-smoking room. Decor in bathroom was a little strange - none of the colors coordinated. Pretty average overall.

My brother and his new wife had their wedding in New London so they blocked rooms here. My whole family lives in the area but I was watching my nieces so I agreed to get a room for the night since they had a pool and the sleep number beds. I reserved a room with two beds since there would be four of us. My husband checked in and got the room key without checking the room. What a mistake. At 11pm when we got back from the wedding we went to the room and the key wouldn't work. Back downstairs we went and got a new key for a different room. When we opened the door weren't we surprised to see a king size bed. Down I went to the manager. His response was "well what do you want me to do about it? We are all booked! That is all he could say! I will say I got 50% off the room, and I got to sleep in the chair. There was also no sleep number bed. The room was fine, clean, newer but the fact they couldn't get us a cot or even a little sympathy. My SIL brought them a ton of business, I was so disappointed with how they treated us. Never again!

very nice budget hotel

I stayed in the Radisson New London Hotel in July 2006, and found it to be better than I had expected after reading other trip advisor reviews. It is in a great location within New London, and is just about 30 min or less away from Mohegan sun which we went to on our first night. The hotel lobby is quite nice, but the rest of the hotel has a very damp mustiness to it in the hallways, although once you are in the room, there's not a problem. The only problem that I had while staying at the hotel was that the toilet kept running. Besides that, the staff at the front desk were very nice and helpful, and the furnishings and interior decorations were on par with other hotels of this class.

This hotel needs a renovation

Stayed one night at the Radisson in New London and the location is great, they have a shuttle to the airport, a restaurant, nice lobby, etc. but the rooms are in great need of a make-over. This looks like it hasn't been renovated since the 80's and I was shocked that it is branded as a Radisson - it looks more like a Best Western. The airco was slow and old box-below-the-window-style that combines heater and had very few settings. Beds had worn poly spreads and bare-worn box frames below. Pillows were OK. TV had few cable channels - no Bravo. Desk area was nice - but had to crawl under the desk to plug in a computer. The room smelled like it used to be a smoking room for years and they tried to clean it without much success - it had a very stale odor. Considering how much Radisson has upgraded most properties with upscale rooms and 'number beds' - either this one is long overdue for an upgrade or will soon be something other than a Radisson. The cookies at evening check-in were nice.... staff seemed ber accommodating. Newspaper in the morning. Lots of potential here - but you won't want to pay rack rates....

Ok hotel in a bad area

We've just returned from the Radisson in New London and I have to say that even though it wasn't horrible, this hotel really does not try to impress.

Our reservation was for a room with a king size sleep number bed. Of course we got two double regular beds. So as soon as we got to the room I tried calling the front desk. A waste of time. Nobody picked up. So I had to go down to the reception and request in person another room. I also asked the girl there why nobody picked up the phone, and she answered "we're very busy right now" pointing at the few people checking in. She changed the room but specified that with online bookings they just assign whatever room is available, no matter what choice the person had made online. I agree, but since my first choice was available I don't understand why they didn't give it to me. Oh well.

Next best thing that happened was at shower time, as soon as I pulled the curtains of the shower to the side I found four different beauty products and plastic shampoo bottles from the previous guest right on the bath tub. I didn't even bother complaining about it.

And the last night we wanted to order room service, well we couldn't since the restaurant number was busy for over 30 minutes, so we had to go down to the restaurant to eat, which by the way was completely empty, again a mystery why they were on the phone so much... how about call waiting?

On a last note, the area is not good, very run down, a lot of weird looking people roaming the streets. I would not stay there again.

Average hotel. The lobby was reasonable and checkin was fine. Room was ok size but there was hair in the bathtub and a spider web on the ceiling.

The pool was closed while I was there.

Breakfast was quite good. Wireless internet was $10/day

Did not receive wake up call - same for a few others at the reception desk.

I'm not sure what else is in the area but it's unlikely that I would stay here again

Stayed here with my daughter and husband for 2 nights in July.

No problems checking in with the receptionist being helpful and polite.

Got a non-smoking double bedded room without any bother (booked via Priceline so always grateful for a hassle free check in!).

Room clean if a little on the small side for the 3 of us.

Had dinner in the restaurant which was very tasty and good value (bit strange as we were the only people in there at 7.30pm!).

Swimming pool off the main lobby looked okay with quite a few children using it.

Certainly handy for the harbour with boats going to a variety of places. 10 minute walk tops. Nice to sit on the front and watch the boats come in and go.

Train station just by the harbour with a regular service both up to Boston and down to New York.

Couple of malls within a 15 minute drive as the hotel was very convenient to the main highways.

Large Rooms, Beds and pillows uncomfortable, bad neighborhood.

I stayed at this hotel for a weekend at Foxwoods. The hotel is misleading when they say they are close to Foxwoods. They are about 35-40min away from Foxwoods and 20-25 min from Mohegan Sun Casino. They are about 20min away from Mystic Aquariam. The rooms were large, the bathroom was dirty at checkin, there was hair in the shower. The maids were very rude, I say hi and they gave me a dirty look. The front desk was very helpful, I complained to the manager and she gave me a comp night. They have a nice pool and hot tub, all though I did not go in. The hotel is in a very bad neighborhood, as I would not feel safe walking around. I went to use the bathroom in the lobby and there was a homeless man hanging out in there. The resturaunt's food was very good, however the wait staff is very inexperienced and the service was very slow. Breakfast is good but expensive. The bed's are very hard and pillows are not very comfortable. Rooms are overdue for new bedding. Next time I will probably pick a hotel closer to the casino. This hotel is not worth the price. I would not spend more then $70 / night for the quality you are getting. This hotel definitally does not show much for Radission Standards. I have stayed at much nicer Radissions in the past.

I was Not at all please with this Hotel. Their service was not what i expected. Their staff was not as friendly as they should have been. It was in a terrible neighborhood in downtown Ct. Rooms I have to say were in good condition, but i have stayed in better Hotels for cheaper prices. My opinion... Stay in Mistic

Lots to see Plenty of good food in area restaurants and lots of hole in the wall pubs which are nice on the inside. Check out all the historical places, fort, etc.etc. The houses are great to ride around and look at. The Sub Base is really cool to see. Mystic is a GREAT place to see also. Lots and lots to do.

screwy highways! use the directions to the casinos the hotel provides! there is NO southbound exit from I95 to I395! or vice versa coming back!
