Perfect hosts

The service we received from This hotel began when I emailed about disabled access. They couldn't have been more helpful and informative and that continued from when we arrived to when we left. We have nothing but the highest praise for the staff.

The room was very comfortable too and well equipped - no complaints there! The position is excellent and we'd have no hesitation in recommending this place to our friends.

We'll definitely go back.

Top quality, especially for a motel

I don't expect a lot out of a classic motel, but the family owners of the Alpine Trail Ridge Inn go out of their way to make the place perfect. We stayed in the combined rooms 151-152 kitchenette suite which has a kitchen, living room, 2 bedrooms and 2 baths. The location is perfect, with this particular suite having a living room with two sides of windows facing a largely unobstructed view of the Rockies. And, the hotel is as close to the entrance to the National Park as you can get. Although the furniture is nondescript and the fixtures and facilities a bit dated, the entire suite was immaculate and, most impressively, the kitchen was fully equipped with everything you could want, including dishsoap and towels. The Alpine does a great job of making you feel right at home. Just bring your own food.

The pool, though small, is wonderfully heated to the perfect temperature and well maintained.

Another note regarding their attention to detail: We've traveled throughout the country and often find the judge of a good motel (as opposed to a hotel) is the cleanliness of the parking lot because that's where the kids run to get to the car and the pool. I'm pleased to report that we found the Alpine's parking lot to be as pristinely wiped clean of all pebbles and dirt as you could want.

We were so pleased with Alpine that it was hard to find anything to improve, but here are a few notes: If you're taller than about 5'8" you will not fit comfortably in the tiny "master bedroom" in the 151-2 suite. The bed is specifically cut smaller to fit in the room, so you can imagine. Not all the rooms are like this, so ask before you book; I think it was an anomoly for this suite. Similarly, the master bath's bathroom in this particular suite is so small it's cute, which is fine if you fit, but if you're substantially overweight, you may have trouble maneuvering. Finally, it's a motel (despite the fancy name) so it's near the road. We didn't find this fact nearly as annoying as you might think, but if you're expecting seclusion, this is not the place for you. Other than that, it's easily one of the top 3 motels we've ever stayed in.

We figured that if you're traveling to a national park that everyone seems to visit, and you go in tourist season, and you stay at one of the best places that so many people seem to like you're going to pay a lot and get a little...WRONG! Jay and Fran Grooters have one of the nicest, most family-friendly bargains going. We were lucky enough to snag the family kitchen suite for 2 of our 3 nights we stayed. The kids had a queen bed each and my wife and I had a private room and bath all to ourselves. We also had a living room and kitchen which we didn't take advantage of...only because the Rockies beckoned.

Fran was extremely helpful in giving us plenty of options for hikes with the kids and great places to see and experience while in the park. She's a font of knowledge and is cheerful no matter how many times she answers the same questions.

The staff was always smiling and courteous and our stay was as good or better than any place we've ever been.

But again...stay away. If it gets too busy everyone will want to stay there and no one will want to leave...like us.

Loved the Alpine Trail Ridge Inn

My family of 6 were extremely impressed with our recent accomodations at the Alpine Trail Ridge Inn in Estes Park, Co. For a reasonable rate, my family had two connecting rooms giving us plenty of space. The rooms were very nice, clean, and the beds were very comfortable. My 4 kids enjoyed the outdoor heated pool, though small, was very adequate. The lodge was located very near the entrance to the Rocky Mountain National Park. There was a great restaurant within walking distance. Additionally, we were very close to the quaint town where we were able to find plenty of parking at any time during the day or night. Perhaps the best part of our stay at the Alpine Trail Ridge Inn was the staff. "Robert" was particularly helpful when I called for information a couple of times before we traveled. Then he (and the entire staff) were extremely helpful and knowledgeable about the area and gave us great advise as to what trails to take at the park and general information about day trips and other nearby attractions. Not only was Robert helpful, he is an extremely talented photographer where travelers can purchase beautiful pictures of wildlife and views in Colorado for sale in the lobby. I would highly recommend the Alpine Trail Ridge Inn for your travelers.

Fine location: Near Beaver Meadows entrance to RMNP. Easy access to Estes Park Village, Beautiful view.

Spotlesly clean, and everything works well. High teck AC. Heat should be good, we didn't have to use it. Very fine bed, instant hot water, very good microwave oven, very good TV with all the channels I could think of.

Moderate prices.

Very good famil restaurant adjoining.

Just returned from a one-week trip to Colorado, and the Alpine Trail Ridge Inn accommodated our family of five better than any other lodging . Our room had two bedrooms (queen bed in one room and two double beds in the other) as well as two full baths. This inn is sparkling clean and has a wonderfully cozy, cottage feel. Extremely helpful and kind innkeepers, great location, new free wireless internet which my husband appreciated, super comfy beds, and a fantastic value. We absolutely loved it.

We just finished booking our room for June 2006. We return here yearly because of the wonderful owners. The rooms are clean, the staff is friendly. Fran and Jay are a wealth of information if you plan on hiking in the Rockies. They can recommend trails based on your personal abilities. One year, after straining my knee on a strenuous climb, they even loaned me the use of walking sticks so I could head back into the mountains the following day. This is the kind of personal attention you can get only at a family owned Inn.

The Alpine Trail Ridge Inn was absolutely wonderful! Great room at a great price! Excellent location too! We just wish that we had more time to relax in the room which was very comfortable and had everything we needed in it. The view from our balcony was breathtaking. When we go back to Estes Park you can guarantee we will be staying here again. Thank you!

Top Local Tips for Estes Park

Enter RMNP Early In the DAY and don't miss YMCA camp. Go into Rocky Mountain national Park as early as possible to avoid the crowds. See the lodge and the cabils that are furnished with linens, etc clear to the top of a mountain where you will see all kinds of wildlife, not to mention it's open to anyone, but has a Christian atmosphere and all kinds of aminities such as horseshoes, horseback riding, volleyball, wildlife toors, etc., etc., etc.

Cheese and Wine Check out the amazing cheese and wine bar in Estes Park.

horrible traffic If the purpose of your visit is Rocky Mountain National Park, find lodging on the outskirts of town near the park, and stay away from the middle of town. Summertime traffic is at a standstill, particularly on the weekends.
