Great Resort!
from A TripAdvisor Memberthe Service
from A TripAdvisor MemberSince I live in Seattle, I tend to go up to Whistler, but since we did not have much snow in the Northwest this year, we ended up going out to Colorado. The lodge is very authentic, cozy, and a great place for a "get together". I have to say that I sometimes think Whistler has become too commercialized and the lodging "pre-fabed".
Since we got a pretty good deal, I did not expect the food service to be where it was. The meal and service rivaled those served at the finer restaurants in major cities. The service and knowledge of the staff was wonderful!
Loved The Lodge and Spa at Breckenridge
from A TripAdvisor MemberThe views are incredible from the rooms or from the dining areas. Free breakfast everyday to start off a busy day of activities. The dinner at the Top of The World Restarant was one of the best meals I can remember. Truly underrated and a favorite with many locals we asked.
I enjoyed my visit so much I am planning my next sales meeting at The Lodge and Spa and will be taking all of my regional sales people for some business/fun.
I have gone to Breckenridge for years and this is my favorite places by far!
Never More
from A TripAdvisor MemberNot the Ritz
from inlovewithtravelWhen we arrived, they had my parents upstairs and us downstairs. We were really upset. They ended up getting us rooms slightly closer together upstairs. My mother has a bad knee and the stairs proved to be a pain for 5 days! They compensated us with a dinner to make up for the mix up.
We all got massages and my mother and I got a facial in the spa. We had no problems there. It was nice having something on site. The food in the restaurant was good and the continental breakfast was adequate. My husband made waffles every morning and there was also cereal, bagels, etc.
The lobby was our favorite part. Our group would hang out in the lobby whenever we were at the lodge. There were games and beautiful views! The rooms were very plain, which I expected. Thank goodness the carpets had been replaced because I read horrible reviews on them. The bathroom left a little to be desired for me and the TV's were old. I couldn't hook up a DVD player to it!
The pool was a really nice temperature 2 out of the 3 days. It's a lined pool, but was large. The hot tubs grossed me out a little as they looked like they had green water in them.
Maid service didn't go above and beyond...they were adequate making the beds and picking up towels. There was no concierge, but I found Rachel at the front desk to be very helpful. The shuttle was always timely for us, though we used it about 4 or 5 times.
Overall, my husband loved the hotel. I like to be pampered a little more, but didn't feel put out by the service, amenities, or location. The view from our room was terrific!
I don't know that I would stay there again, but it wasn't horrible.
Service better at the Super 8
from A TripAdvisor MemberCheck in was no problem. There were cookies and hot coffee, it all seemed very nice. We put all our ski stuff away after a long day on the slopes and then headed into town for dinner. When we returned, we found that the lock had broken on our door.
This is not the fault of the establishment, these things happen. However we were locked out of our room just short of 3 hours. The maintenance person was very aimiable and helpful, letting us know the status often, however the desk people said nothing! There was no; "let us move you", or "here is a certificate for dinner or a massage for your trouble" or "we'll comp you a night"...nothing. Perhaps it was because we weren't screaming or making a scene?
In a service oriented business, people have to stay on top of it and be proactive when things go wrong. I have found much better service and attention at every 1 and 2 star places in the area over this place. I cannot imagine paying full price for such lackluster service.
It is also disturbing that on their site, there is nowhere to "send" comments.
t imagine how it made Top 50 Ski Resorts
from A TripAdvisor MemberSecondly, the room had an exterior passageway and there were no lights to see.
Thirdly, I had cold-lukewarm water for the first 2 days of my stay. The front desk CSR just shrugged it off that they were having water problems. There was no indication that it would be logged as a problem and there was no follow up, until I put it in writing on the following morning. Not every guest had this water problem.
Fourthly, the steps to the outdoor spa tub were icy with absolutely no lights to see by. One guest slipped on his back down these steps.
Fifthly, requesting a scheduled shuttle service is as good as requesting as required. I waited on the hill for at least 20 minutes for a scheduled pick up. The driver just apologized with the comment that it was just 15 minutes late. Better organized staff would look at their schedules before dispatching the shuttle and combine pickups.
I do like the place because I don't like walking around huge complexes in ski boots. The view is beautiful and everything in the inn is near at hand. The health club is exceptionally well equipped for a small inn. They advertise WIFI but the signal strength is low, probably because of altitude. Unfortunately, the front desk person doesn't describe any amenities when you check in.
I understand they are trying to improve the quality but there is obviously no attention to detail. Their employees seem to be have a very laissez-faire attitude. No professional management was evident.
Great stay at the Breckenridge Lodge and Spa

Altitude Being from the very flat land of Illinois, we were surprised at how the altitude affected us. We took the advice of people we talked to there, though, and drank water often during the day and we didn't push it as far as skiing--we took little breaks when we were tired.
ARRIVING TO BRECKENRIDGE FROM NEARBY AIRPORTS ALTHOUGH IT SEEMS EAGLE AIRPORT IS CLOSER THAN DENVER - TRANSPORTATION FROM DENVER AIRPORT TO BRECKENRIGE IS EASILY ACCESSIBLE AND MORE AFORDABLE. ($60.00 PRE PERSON) FROM EAGLE AIRPORT ON THE DAY OF OUR ARRIVAL THEY WANTED TO CHARGE US $350.00 DOLLARS TO GET TO THE LODGE. FORTUNATELY I FOUND OUT BEFORE TRAVELING AND CHANGED MY FLIGHT TO ARRIVE AT DENVER AIRPORT.
Stear clear of the Blue Moose Stay away from Blue Moose restaurant for Breakfast go to Columbines instead!! Much better value for money and the food is significantly better!!
