Dirty, dusty, and an unfriendly staff -- STAY AWAY!!! A DUMP!!!

from piano10
I stayed at the Millenium Hotel in Boulder, CO for June 30 and July 1, 2006. That is the worst hotel that I have ever stayed in. It was dirty, dusty, and a very unfriendly staff.

While I had purchased a double occupancy room, all I received in my room was one double bed -- in a very small, dirty room -- and was told that was all that they had available because I had purchased through the internet, and thus was non-refundable. I paid $118.00 per night through a net booking service. My wife and I could barely fit on the bed & I woke up with a headache, neck ache, and a significant amount of dust in my lungs from sleeping in the room I was given. The room was approximately 10 X 10, with the TV , small desk & bed all crammed in. When I inquired about a room with a King Size bed, I was told that I could pay an additional $30.00 per night for that room, but it would also be about 10X10 in size.

The Millenium Hotel in Boulder is a dump. I would rate this hotel as 1 star. While in Colorado last week, I also stayed at the Courtyard Marriot in Louisville, COfor 5 nights ($99.00 per night) & that was very nice -- very clean & nice staff. I also stayed at the Hyatt in downtown Denver -- an excellent hotel -- for around $118.00 per night.

The Millenium in Boulder is an absolutely disgustingly dirty hotel. It is not shocking that if one books nights at the hotel, they have a policy to charge you $75.00 if you depart early --- not surprising given how bad this hotel is & how many people probably think about checking out right after check in. If I had planned on staying more than 2 nights, I would have simply eaten the cost & moved. I almost did that anyway -- as it was, I simply spent as much time away from the hotel with the exception of when I had to actually sleep.

Also, beware as to where you might park in the parking lot. On 6.24, prior to when I checked in, I drove by the hotel and there was approximately 2 feet of rain water -- I kid you not -- in the front of the lot enveloping many of the guest cars. STAY AWAY FROM THIS HOTEL!

Anyone who would rate this hotel at above 2 stars probably is employed by the hotel -- 2 stars is generous. This is 1 star, based upon cleanliness and service. Again, after sleeping their one night I had trouble breathing because of the dust in the room. If you attempt to open the windows, there is no screen. RUN AWAY FROM THIS HOTEL.

Yikes!

My two daughters and I stayed here for three nights. For the price, it was shocking to me how much in disrepair this hotel seems to be; the pool alone has to be a health hazard. There was considerable mold in the bathroom. The carpets were stained... the sheets were thin and smelled very strongly of chlorine. Which was, in a weird way, somewhat reassuring because the rest of the hotel seemed teeming with bacteria.

I have never had any sort of back pain or back problem but by day three on the hotel bed, I was so achy and sore that I couldn't bend and was just miserable.

The in-house restaurant was OK; expensive but tasty.

What a mess! We spent 2 nights in the "west wing" which was about a 5 minute circuitous walk from the lobby through deteriorating hallways, past offices, up a slow elevator and at the end of a long hallway. Room decor is a ugly mix of Mission style furniture, country quilt and horrible blue and green 70's rec room carpeting. Room was clean enough, but wasn't cleaned until about 4pm. Spa was broken. Fitness room had no A/C and had door propped open to get air from the stifling hallway. No towels in fitness room either. Trash pickup outside our window at 5:45am both mornings. Very slow breakfast service...seemed confused when we decided to order off the menu rather than have the buffet. Good points were the proximity to the CU campus which we were visiting and the $3 shuttle to campus, since parking on campus was $5.

Big Di!sappointment

from GeorgeW1111
I stayed at the Millenium with my 10-year old son, and it was a huge disappointment! The hallways were shabby and badly in need of painting. The room was drab with very few amenities. The desk light did not work, there was no carafe for the coffeemaker, and the walls were marked and scuffed. Paint was peeling from the bathroom door. The indoor jacuzzi was heated, but the jets were not working. The pool was strictly a lap pool with no provisions for leisurly swimming. The room was noisy and we could hear both exterior and interior noise. Overall, not a good experience!

Needs a major facelift!

While the room was clean there was a significant draft from the slider doors which the old heating system could barely rectify. Good thing I like a cold (<65F) room! The bathroom had evidence of mold in the tub grout and the faucet had a very slow drip. The iron had scale/lime build up.

The lobby and parking area are really in need of updating. While the food was alright at breakfast the service was extremely slow. Not a good thing for a business traveler. I will never stay at the Millenium again.

Awful place to stay

from Chandleraz
Multiple problems with this place.
Grossly under staffed ... Lobby smells ... staff couldn't locate my package even though they left a message on my phone ... toilet was broken ... phone continually "dings" with message light and you can't turn it off even after retrieving messages ... they make you write your room number on a parking pass and then they have you hang it from your car mirror(Huge safety concern if you ask me). ... and trying to get a beverage at the bar is nearly impossible. I stay at over 20 hotels a year, in my opinion, this is by far the worst.

t stay here

This hotel is is dire need of updating. It needs to hire a few more maids that are better cleaners. There is a fee for every service in the hotel. I would not stay here if there is another room available in the city.

Not bad, quite comfortable

from FollowThisBird
I enjoyed a comfortable, three-night stay at the Millenium Harvest House Boulder during a recent business trip. My room was located on the second floor of the hotel's "west wing": the room's decor was inviting and the room was clean. Housekeeping was attentive with fresh towels each day and the usual daily clean-up, but the thoroughness of the housekeeping staff came into question when my eye for detail noticed a few cobwebs collecting near an infrequently-used lamp on the desk near the window. No matter. The room included a coffee maker, HBO, and an iron and ironing board. In addition to my room, another highlight of my stay was the breakfast buffet at the hotel's Rosemary's Thyme restaurant (I hope I'm remembering the name correctlly). Another plus is the free WIFI in the hotel lobby and lounge. This hotel could use some updating in the hallways -- old paint job, old carpeting. The hallways near the pool smelled musty. These are the only things keeping this property from being a very nice hotel. In the future, I would not object to staying here again, although I would welcome the opportunity to stay at a different, nicer Boulder hotel.

barking dogs in the night

After a long flight ( from England) and feeling extremely tired we were given a 'very quiet room' by the receptionist. We had been in the room 10 seconds when we could hear very loud barking from the room next door. After going back to reception we were given a suite, this had an extremely small double bed and a room with a sofa bed. There was not enough pillows and no hairdryer. After calls to the housekeeper and a wait she came to check if we really didn't have these things before she brought them to the room. The next day we moved to a club room which was much better. If you stay in a club room or suite you are entitled to free breakfast and evening deserts in the club room. This was quite good and extremely adequate to start the day with.

Top Local Tips for Boulder

Millennium's shuttle!!!! The Millennium has a shuttle that will take you anywere within 5 miles of the hotel. Cheaper and faster then a cap and way better than waiting for a bus!

A real 3-3.5 hotel Found the Homewood Suites on Baseline an excellent hotel and is what I expect for a 3.5 rating. Hard to find however as it is behind the shopping center.

Year round fun! Of course everyone who like sking will love Boulder. You can get to a Ski area very quickly and can get a good priced hotel room most of the time. However if you are not into the cold weather, Summer is a wonderful time to go as well. The sun shine most of the time, so you will have plenty of time for swimming, golf, hiking and two of my bests pasttimes sunning, and shopping!
