Top Local Tips for Aspen

Two Great Ski and Eat Experiences -- Cloud 9 Restaurant & Pine Creek Cookhouse Not to be missed by alpine skiers -- a late lunch at the top of Aspen Highlands at the Cloud 9 Restaurant. Fabulous views of the rockies, and good gourmet meals with a decent wine list served in a rustic alpine lodge. A great place for a long late (an liquid) lunch after a long ski morning. The other tip isfor nordic skiers -- the Pine Creek Cookhouse in the Ashcroft Cross Country Ski area between Aspen Highlands and Aspen. Many miles of trails for various levels of nordic skiers, with a fabulous moutain lodge restaurant in the area. You can only reach the lodge by cross country skis, snowshoe or a horse drawn sleigh. If you've never cross country skied a great way to try it out, and have a great meal.

So much to do in Aspen Aspen in summer is great. There are so many activity to enjoy including biking on the Rio Trail, hiking the Maroon Bells, shopping, rafting and stopping in Glenwood Springs on your way in/out at the hot springs. Independence Pass is so pretty, need to stop and see the old historical Independence Ghost town.

Know before you go .... Off season in Aspen is less expensive, but with problems. There is a lot of construction going on, so there is a lot of noise and contruction workers in a lot of the hotels. I don't think the people of Aspen think you can live without there views or skiing because the hospitality we were shown was very poor.
