Top Local Tips for Torrance

Restaurants on Hawthorne If you're looking for some eats, stick to Hawthorne Blvd. Between 405 and Torrance Airport. You have restaurants in nearly every block. If you like diners, go to Norm's near 190th Street instead of Spire's at Torrance Blvd. There are dozens of choices anywhere from fast food to fairly fine dining on that four mile stretch. For starters, when you arrive at LAX, take 405 South to Hawthorne Blvd, turn right, and then turn right into Galleria Mall. The California Pizza Kitchen is accessible from the parking lot, and is just fine. Otherwise, keep going past the mall for a few miles, and you'll see good places on both sides of the street all the way down. For one of the world's top ten views, take Hawthorne striaght out about 6 or 8 miles, up and then back down the mountain until you come to a T intersection. Try the Golden Lotus in the shopping center on your left for some Thai food, and stroll afterwards to a view of Catalina Island that will make you forget you're in Los Angeles.

Taxi driver knowledge If you can, do some homework on locations of shopping mails before you go. I had to direct our taxi driver to the local mall !!!
