SO GORGEOUS!

South Coast Winery is by far the best location to stay in Temecula! It is right up in the hills with all of the beautiful vineyards, so your surroundings are so beautiful! The villas are all really new and have a modern style inside. There is so much space, and everything is extremely clean. We got married in Temecula so we booked a room at South Coast for wedding pampering before the wedding with all of the bridal party, and stayed in the room the night of...it couldn't have been more perfect!

Liked this place but stayed there before it was fully open so price was a little more reasonable. While it is really nice to have your own villa I thought it over priced. The jacuzzi tub is nice but only for one. Also doesn't include wine tasting or breakfast like the inn at Churon winery does. Although Churon is a bit older, just seems more romantic.
Second Stay

Took my second group of business owners here for a one night out retreat.
Last visit was in November 2004.
The rooms are excellent. I have traveled a lot and the one I stayed in was one of the very best. Everyone in the group felt the same.
However, the lights shine in and all around your villa all night, so be aware that if you wake up in the middle of the night, it will look like noon outside. Close your bathroom door and bring some clothes pins for the other curtains.
The staff is nice, but not energetic. They don't volunteer much. I opened the door for one staff member and she walked by me like the queen of England. She couldn't wait to tell her coworkers how nice it was outside, she ignored me completely. (This was in the gift shop).
The conference center is new and very nice.
The restaurant closes for breakfast at 10am and doesn't reopen for lunch until 12 noon. Word to the wise--there are not any restaurants to choose from out in the boonies. The closest one is probably 15 minutes away at 55mph.
Had dinner in the tasting room (private event). The food and service were outstanding.
Had lunch outside on the second day of the retreat, ordering off of the menu. It was very reasonable and the food was excellent. Service was the same...superb!
The wine from this winery is not very good. It will be in about 20 years, but it is harsh and underdeveloped. So, be prepared to order something from Napa if you drink.
I will stay here again. The pool and spa should be open in less than a year.

I have stayed here 3 times and love it everytime.
the rooms are great, large with fireplace, dining table, seating area, wet bar. they are set up in quads and there are no common walls, so no noise.
nice patios that are in the vineyards.
bathrooms are all marble with great shower and huge tubs. You get complimentary tasting coupons at checkin.

Picturesque and peaceful

My husband and I had a very lovely stay at this beautiful resort between Christmas and New Years. The accommodations are unique as each unit is it's own private villa, with lovely French doors opening into a patio area that is actually a part of the vineyard. Gardens are well-landscaped surrounded by the winemaker's vineyards. The rooms were separated enough from the main building to be very peaceful and quiet. Service was outstanding. Requests were met promptly and all staff were very polite and courteous. The "standard" room is a step-above, with two queen beds, a wonderful gas fireplace and luxury bathroom, with double showerheads and a jacuzzi tub. Beds were extremely comfortable. The only minor downside to our stay was that the spa was not yet complete, which we understand should be finished in the next few months. We will definitely return again, perhaps in the Spring when everything is lush and green.

I couldn't believe the experience that I had at South Coast and Temecula. I was expecting a second hand experience after staying up North, but this was simply marvelous. Anyone wondering about where to stay, this is the picturesque setting.
If you are looking for adventure, look elsewhere. This is an ideal locale for relaxation, romance, and quiet enjoyment of good wine.

Amazing Hotel

Basically, South Coast is one of the few places that exceeds its own high placed expectations. The rooms are spacious, comfortable and creative. Bathrooms are large. There's enough room in the living are to have several guests, a table to work at.
The tasting room is relaxed and its servers helpful.
The best part about the resort is you completely feel away from the city, and being a person from Las Vegas with a person from LA, it was a huge stress reliever. If you are interested about wines and/or vineyards, being able to stay in a valley of vineyards is very interesting and leads to more learning, relaxation and fun then would otherwise be felt have to travel back and forth from the Los Angeles area if one was staying there.
While we didn't deal with many employees of the resort, we found them all to be friendly, curtious, and helpful. I suppose that is always an aspect of luck when dealing with any hotel, but for all the reasons about, we'll be planning on arriving again.

Beautiful Villas, Peaceful Surroundings

My sister and I stayed in a villa, with two astonishingly comfortable queen size beds, for two nights. The villa is large, beautifully furnished, with a gas fireplace that pops on at the touch of a button. Very good quality workmanship in these little villas. Beautiful dark wood doors, nice fixtures, a makeup mirror in the bathroom, a fantastic jacuzzi tub and a shower with two shower heads, one the hand held kind that slips into a holder so you can have two streams of water. Plenty of towels. One problem though, NO towel racks....we were draping damp towels all over the place.
Next to the two queen size beds (of course you can also get a king bed) was a little sofa, facing the fireplace, which had a lovely dark wood mantle. Next to the sofa, huge windowed double doors led out to our charming patio (with small table and two very solid rattan chairs) that overlooked a few grape vines, an orchard of lemon trees about fifty feet away, and lovely hills in the background. The villas have patios that overlook the hills AND patios that overlook the street; make sure you get one that looks out toward the hills. We were in 2702.
South Coast Winery is out amongst the other vineyards, so you will not be close to much; but if you're seeking peace and quiet, this is the place. The closet was a little small for two people I thought, and the space between the beds and the cabinet which held the TV was a little narrow. However, the room was beautiful as a whole, with a nice large table and two chairs by the front door. Hand painted flowers on the wall over the headboards; sturdy, fine furnishings. A little water fountain in the entry way made a pleasant sound and the landscaping at the resort is lush, fresh and gorgeous.
Restaurant: We were in the area to attend a church retreat which included meals there, so we ate most meals at their site. However, my sister and I had two breakfasts and one lunch at the restaurant; the food was very good and the service very friendly. I had a good chicken sandwich for lunch. Breakfast was not expensive unless you ordered the $16 steak and eggs or the $12 omelet. I just had cereal and toast a la carte. My sister had one of the most beautiful fruit salads I ever saw, served in a carved out pineapple. The restaurant is huge...there were very few people there for breakfast, in fact, the villas didn't seem to have many people in them. The added benefit of no common walls made for lots of quiet.
One thing: the spa is not yet open. No gym, nothing but the restaurant and gift shop and wine tasting right now. No room service at the moment.
For the quiet, the lovely accommodations, the nice restaurant, I would highly recommend the South Coast Winery. One magical touch; Saturday and Sunday mornings around 7am you can look outside and see hot air balloons rising into the air and drifting by. We saw 5 or 6 each morning, and it was a delightful, almost lyrical, experience in the cool misty morning air. Remember though; the price you pay for peace and quiet is a long drive to wherever; the tradeoff for being in such a lovely, isolated area. I would definitely return.

Wonderful Wine Weekend!

I was looking for a place for my husband & I to celebrate our 14th wedding anniversary & his birthday. After entertaining Napa & Santa Barbara, I came across a much more reasonable option with South Coast Winery. This place is amazing. We stayed in a Villa Suite, which was bigger than our first house together! Huge living/dining room w/ separate bathroom to one side, and a completely private bedroom & beautiful bathroom on the other. In honor of our anniversary, they had decorated the bed w/ rose petals in shape of a heart, and had a huge box of chocolate covered strawberries in addition to a complimentary bottle of wine.
We took a Wine Tour w/ Grapeline Tours (request Cindy), which was a blast. South Coast Winery had just opened their gorgeous restaurant, so we decided to have dinner there on our last night. The staff is very young, but what they lack in experience, they make up in very friendly service. We had a great waiter, but the meal took two hours to arrive at our table (the kitchen was not prepared for a full dining room). The management comped our entire meal (including drinks) & were very apologetic. I've never received such gracious service!
I can't wait to go back for another weekend getaway & will recommend this place to all my friends!

My boyfriend and I stayed here this past Feb when the hotel was still under renovation. We chose Temecula after having no luck finding decent price hotels in Santa Barbara, which were all requiring 2 night minimums and hefty fees. Thus, we ended up w/ South Coast and were extremely happy! The villas are private, relaxing, spacious and feature great beds and huge bathrooms. We spent the day tasting, ending up at ours (South Coast closes at 6 p.m. - all others at 5 p.m.). We then ordered in food and spent the night enjoying our bottle of wine on our balcony - in the a.m., we awoke to great baths/robes followed by a complimentary breakfast, before finshing our weekend with a picnic at our fav winery, Wilson creek, which is right down the road. A perfect weekend!
Temecula is easy to naviage w/ all wineries on same road and far cheaper and less crowded than Santa Barbara!
THe only flaw is there aren't very many places to eat around resort - and restaurant on property was still under construction- so plan ahead w. take-out menus and delivery times or dine out and then head home to wine so no worries about driving. We tried to call a few pizzarias around 9 p.m. and only one was willing to travel and one pizza pie w/ 2 sodas was nearly $25.00!

Yes, Temecula has a wine country!! We had always thought Napa was the closest wine country to Las Vegas. We were very surprised to find Temecula. It has over a dozen very nice wineries. We got to experience many of them and tasted some great wines. We recommend it for a fun weekend getaway!
