We choose this hotel, on short notice and memorial day weekend, because of the price and location to the boardwalk in Santa Cruz. Once we located it, we were a little dismayed at the condition of the exterior, however, one can never tell by looks alone. We attempted an early check in (normally 1:30) at 11:00, without any problems or charges, the young ladys at the desk were pleasant and easy going. Once we got our room we found it ok. Seemed clean, had view of the boardwalk, and a very old but functional microwave/refridge. Well...aside from the roach that jumped out from behind the side table, the non-functioning remote control and therefore, no channels to speak of, the (intense jump out of my shoes)electrical shock that I recieved trying to plug in my cell charger, and lastly but not leastly, the very rude, hard to understand older male clerk, it was a learning experience that some times-whats on the outside DOES reflect what its like on the inside.
