Very Good Value and Experience

from A TripAdvisor Member
We recently stayed for two nights over a weekend. Customer service was extremely friendly and helpful throughout our stay. Our room was clean and comfortable, but smelled a little musty and was in need of an update (this was our initial reaction, but we quickly got over it). The continental breakfast is a nice touch (fresh fruits, bagels and baked goods). Overall, the value is good compared to more expensive places that we were told by locals aren't worth the extra money. The location is on the east end of Santa Barbara, but it's a nice walk to the wharf, harbor or shops and restaurants on State Street. There is also a shuttle that leaves every 30 minutes (it ends at 6:00). We recommend driving at night so you don't have to walk home or take a taxi. We did hear the infamous train at night, but it would be hard not to hear it no matter where one stayed. We were quite satisfied with this choice and would definitely stay there again.

Exceeded Expectations

I’m on crutches with a broken ankle. My partner went in to check in and asked for a lower level room, and none was available.

When the manager --Frank saw my (sorry) state, he graciously upgraded us to the next room that was available on the lower level.

But that’s not all, in the morning, he was exceedingly helpful, and the continental breakfast was mandatory (in a good way).

I will make this hotel my first choice when I go to Santa Barbara. Best Value in Santa Barbara, and best service ever and attention by the manager himself.

Friendly, courteous service made for a pleasant stay.

An awesome experience - what every hotel should be

from A TripAdvisor Member
I had the free time to visit some friends in Santa Barbara this past week and decided to give this place a shot based on some good reviews. I am by no means picky, but its easy to see how Frank and his staff could impress any guest in this state.

I've traveled all over the states but can say that I honestly have never been treated so well by any etablishment in my journies.

Frank runs this beautiful place and he is always one step a head of you with any questions on the surrounding area and some goos suggestions.

By the way, if you like the contental breakfasts, your in luck. They have an awesome assortment of pastries, coffee, OJ, etc etc. And don't think theres any frugality here, I practically walked back with more then I could handle, haha.

Security is hardly an issue in this city but rest assured this hotel has great surveilance systems and your car and safety is well looked out for.

To sum it up, if and when I return to SB, I will MOST DEFINITELY be staying here again.

P.S. Get a room with a fireplace!!! It will make you want to stay forever...

Pleasant surprise, friendly staff, good location, good value

from Hansern
Frank, managing this motel, does it all. Exellent and friendly service. Good location, close to the beach. We got a room with a fire place - actually very nice, compared to what we paid (USD 99/night). We will be back!

Great location, friendly staff, but ---

from SuzieQQ
We've just returned from a week-end in Santa Barbara. Stayed at this Inn, 2 blocks from the ocean. The manager was great -- friendly, gave us all kinds of booklets on where to eat and what to do. Good things about the room included a fireplace and separate bath and sink areas. Not so good things included pillows and blankets that have "seen their better days", and very thin walls. We had a ground-level room, and at 5am heard the woman upstairs walking around in her heels. The showers were also extremely loud. We later heard the housekeepers' conversations outside. If the walls were better insulated, and the bedding updated, we'd be back in a flash!

The personal touch gives it an edge

from zolo
The hotel is a standard motel type accomodation, in a good location a block from East Beach (no view, however) and about a mile to Stearns Pier. Good value for the location and given the fact you can get a decent continental breakfast. I must agree with others that Frank makes a difference. Do not do anything before consulting with him as he usually has a way of doing it better and/or can give you a coupon to lessen the damage in an otherwise expensive town.

we liked the personal touch of the owners, and the attention of all the details.

Trip back in time

from A TripAdvisor Member
This is the third time I have used Travel for Hotels and the third success story. I had the fun opportunity to stay at the Inn for a conference in town. It was like a trip back in time. Older hotel with charisma. Neat and clean. Fun manager with great stories. Great breakfast with interesting names for the brownies.
A fun place and close to activities.

Top Local Tips for Santa Barbara

Beachcombing & Views There are several different beaches around the area. If you have a car, be sure to visit more then one. They each offer something different and unique, and have different environments. In addition, there is a spectacular view from the Santa Barbara City College campus. Take a walk on campus, if you have a chance.

A few hours in Santa Barbara The Santa Barbara Mission is worth a visit. So is the Courthouse. The courthouse has a free tour at 2 PM and is worthwhile. Natural Cafe towntown has healthy selections, reasonable prices. East Beach grimy with dead birds. Mission style architecture makes Santa Barbara very special to visit.

Close by dining. Cava, in Montecito is a few minutes away. Great Mexican food!
