AJ Spurs A great place to eat! It's in the Pismo Beach/Grover Beach area. Excellent staff and very accomomdating. They don't take reservations but they told us if we came at 5:30 pm (Sat. night) they would be able to seat us. We had a large party (~50 people/soccer team girls & family) so it was difficult to serve the soup and skillet potatoes accompaniments hot but the wait staff was cool, calm and collected. Keep your players together but break up your groups into tables of eight and this should help with the food. One of our fathers took on the 35 oz. steak challenge and won himself an AJ Spurs t-shirt.

Farmer's Market The Farmer's Market on Thursday nights is a lot of fun! The BBQ meals are great as well as the entertainment. Very fun for all ages. Great produce. Go early and shop downtown--get a parking spot in a lot.

Watch out for SLO festival weekends and always have a reservation beforehand There is not a lot of lodging in this town, particularly inexpensive lodging. We traveled earlier this year on a local festival weekend (which we didn't know about). We were glad we had a reservation. As I attempted to check in at about 6PM, the front desk turned away about 10 people without reservations. They told the southbound travelers that they would have to go beyond Santa Maria to find a place.
