Historical Traveller Reviews of Quality Suites Hotel

Very comfortable

from OzTraveller1961
We liked a lot of things about this hotel which is located in a safe, quiet area with a supermarket nearby. We had a suite upstairs with a king bed and a sofa bed, microwave, fridge, free internet access, and small balcony. The guest laundry was useful. Complimentary drinks in the evening were a nice touch, as was the BBQ by the pool where you could buy hamburgers, hot dogs, etc in the evening. The pool in the center of the complex looked nice but we didn't have time to get in. The only problem was the noise in the corridor outside the room early in the morning as people left their rooms (just the noise of footsteps seemed really loud). Breakfast was fantastic (the best we had while we were in the US) with a full cooked breakfast on offer as well as fruit, bagels, etc, etc. Staff on the front desk were friendly and helpful.

Very impressed

from Dolphin100
Loved it here. Arrived at 5pm with loads of bags and at check in was asked for a floor preference - went for ground and were happy to oblige. There was a happy hour so had a few free beers and for $2.50 burgers were being made on the BBQ so no need to drive anywhere. Room was great size and lounge area was extremely comfortable and nicely decorated with microwave and fridge (ideal for families or those spending more than just one night) plus a TV and the couch was corner shaped so the two of us could each lie down on it. This wasnt the cheapest but I enjoyed staying here even for one night and as I had been doing hotels during my trip it was nice to have that more homely feel and some extra space.

Loved the Quality Suites, SLO!

from LongIslandIrishGuy
I concur with the previous comments. This is a very attractive hotel with excellent service and friendly staff. Stayed here one night , Sept 7th, after driving from SF. Suites are fine, and include two TV's, microwave, refrigerator, wifi etc. Very good breakfast, cooked to order, included in room rate in addition to excellent buffet items.
Location is close to the center of this very pleasant town.
I will definitely stay here again on my next visit to SLO.

Great value in SLO!

from RueDussoubs
My fiancee and I stayed at the Quality Suites in SLO the third weekend in July. We chose it based upon the reviews we found on Tripadvisor, and can confirm that they are uniformly correct. The Quality Suites are a great value. Our room was clean (if a little 80's-kitchy), the staff friendly, the complimentary breakfast hearty and delicious. We would stay here again, and recommend it highly to anyone spending time in SLO.

A pleasant surprise

from limmerick
I followed the advice from trip advisor about staying here and I am very glad I did. It was more than we expected. Very friendly staff, very nice suites, the room was big and nicely presented. There was a happy hour that included grilled burgers, steak , and salad. The complimentary breakfast was the best we have eaten , full breakfast cooked to order, many, many items to eat. I plan to stay here again. we highly recommend the Quality Suites. A lot for the value.

Great deal!

We stayed here last week and overall it was great. My only complaint would be that the fold out bed wasn't comfortable at all. Both people that slept in it had BAD backs the whole next day. It would have been better for them to sleep on the floor! The rooms were fine, they could be updated. The hotel is close to downtown and the front desk is very good with directions. The (free) manager welcome is a great way to unwind for cheap at the end of the day, you get free wine and beer and some chips and salsa. The breakfast is great and free! We saw the nightly bbq, but didn't get anything, it seemed to be really great for the families by the pool. SLO is an adorable town, it if wasn't so expensive I would move there! I would stay here again.

Excellent value.

It is obvious the management of this hotel tries very hard to exceed their guests' expectations. They provide amenities we never expected from this brand and price range. The free internet access was very convenient and worked perfectly.

Everything necessary for a pleasant stay is provided in the room: 2 large TV's, iron, ironing board, hairdryer, microwave, fridge, wet bar, etc. Everything worked and was in perfect condition. Housekeeping was outstanding. They were even dusting the ledges in the outdoor corridors when we were there. The beds were very comfortable. Abundant towels and toiletries were provided and a sign indicated that they have complimentary toothbrushes, etc., available upon request.

We were a bit concerned with the noise level on the ground floor. We could clearly hear everything that went on above us and on each side, not to mention the kids running around the "quiet courtyard" and along the hallways. However, once we went to bed we didn't hear anything at all.

The staff was very friendly and went out of their way to be accommodating. We would request a room above the ground floor next time, but other than that we were satisfied. We weren't in love with having the bathroom sink in the bedroom, but we could live with it for this overnight stay.

Nice place for families

We have stayed at the Apple Farm Inn many times and thought we would try something new especially since reading the previous reviews. I was pleasantly surprised at this place. The lobby is very nice and helpful staff. The room was very big although smelled abit old - it was very clean - the bathroom in excellant condition. The bed was comfortable and we had plenty of room to move around. They have a nice, small pool - clean witha small 1 foot pool for little people and a hot tub. On week nights they have an open bar for wine and beer - all you can drink from 5:30-7:30 then they have a BBQ on the patio from 6-8pm very reasonably priced. They have hotdogs, hamburgers, chicken and steak. The steak the most expensive is $4. It was great we didn't have to go anywhere and the kids were happy. In the morning they have a complimentary breakfast that was very good. You should get there early though for the best selection. But they have a made to order section. All in all it was a great deal! Would definitely go there again.

Wonderful Hotel

I stayed at this hotel last week with my husband and toddler son. We went on a weekend trip to the beach and this hotel was wonderful. I am in the hotel business and I have seen some not so good hotels. This was one of the nicest places I have stayed. The staff was very friendly and helpful (ecspecially when it came to directions since we werent from there and got lost more than once). Our room was spacious and very clean. And the breakfast was very nice. Plenty to choose from and the food was delicious. My husband liked the manager's reception in the evening. And I thought the BBQ by the pool was nice (although we didnt try it...definately will next time). We had a wonderful stay and will definately be staying here again when we go to the beach! I have reccommended this hotel to my friends and co-workers.

Best Sleep Ever!

Top Local Tips for San Luis Obispo

Miscellaneous info on dining, beaches, vineyards Both Pismo and Avila beaches maybe 15 minutes away-very nice with lots of services (rental umbrellas, boards, food, etc). Morro Bay maybe 30 minutes away in opposite direction was fun too-but not for the beach-old pier, big rock, friendly bars. Lots of little boutique vineyards very close to SLO, bought a nice but cheap rose at Edna Valley which has a very nice tasting room-also only about 15 minutes from the hotel. Best seafood restaurant (lots of people recommended to us) is the Pelican in Pismo Beach. Pretty good second choice was the Quarterdeck for more family type fare-easy 2 block walk from hotel. Splash cafe had a very good bakery and good clam chowder-1 block walk from hotel.

Prime Outlets 15 mins away in Pismo Beach Check out the outlets if you enjoy shopping, you might get lucky to find some real bargins.

Good restaurant McClintlock's has good specials. Downtown and good food if you are careful in what you select. Not vegies friendly but nice wine list and great steak
