When I found a blood stain on a pillowcase and called the front desk, the owner (this is a franchise) instead of apologizing, got very belligerent and told me he didn’t believe me. Already unpacked, we requested a new change of bedding. It was already late and all he offered us was a new room. I explained that we had already unpacked, that we were tired and that I was not well and that we would gladly change the sheets ourselves. He came to the room and demanded to see the blood stain, he told me to speak to him nicely while he yelled at me. At no point did he provide any level of gracious service nor did he apologize or show any concern for the condition of the room. I took a picture of the stained pillowcase and he told me I had to take the film out of my camera!!!! As my spouse had registered and paid for the room. The owner did not know my name and demanded to know what my name was. He also told us repeatedly to pack our things and go. Finally he did bring a new set of sheets. He also told my spouse to shut me up, as if it was a man’s job to control his woman. While changing the sheets, we found another blood stain. We also found the ice bucket in the bath tub, an opened bar of soap with a hair on it and dirty towels. It was very clear that this room had not been cleaned and the linens had not be washed. I was afraid for our safety and the safety of our vehicle At that point, at 11 pm, we did leave the hotel and had to find other lodging.

The Ecno Lodge in SLO was basically clean and functional, but no more. The bathroom should have been cleaner. It offered the lowest price, so we chose to stay there for one night.
