Very convenient and adequate for short stay

from atltravel
Stayed one night here to catch plane the next day. Paid priceline rate (VERY cheap, 1/3 of hotel rate). We drove from Moterey in the morning and was able to checkin arount 11 am (without any mentioning of priceline). The room was small but functional, perfectly fine for a short stay. The bed is quite comfortable. The best about this hotel is the convenience it offered. 15 min ride on the clean, safe light rail (station right in front of the hotel), and you are in downtown. 5 min of shuttle ride (every 30 min) and you are in the airport terminal. There are also severl restaurants across from the hotel: a good Japanese restaurant (packed on a wed night at 6:30), a Japanese steakhouse, a chinese restaurant (looks nice but almost empty). Also saw a Morroco restaurant and Chinese buffet. I feel safe enough with two young kids to walk to the restaurant (saw others walk too). One convenience store to the left of the hotel does not look nice, so we just walked the other way to cross the street. Hotel restaurant is expensive but OK for breakfast. There is an outdoor pool, looks clean, but the too cold for early Apr (although the water felt heated). Anyway, this is a good choice for a short stay.

Good and convenient to downtown

from roadwarrior30
RECOMMENDED. The hotel sits just off the I-880 freeway and is directly on the light rail station to downtown (Gish). Hotel is not in an OK part of town (bail bondsman and dive bar nearby), but didn't see any serious crime problem, just don't figure you'll walk to dinner. Plenty of free parking. Hotel staff was efficient and friendly. Hotel is clearly older, but in good condition and has been renovated. Rooms are not huge, but nice sized, bedding very comfortable. Bathrooms well illuminated, a bit on the small side. As previously noted, heavy use of tile in public areas make 1st floor rooms subject to noise (note: they generally fill these rooms last). No experience with restaurant. Light rail is direct 10 minutes to convention center. Would stay again.

Accommodating 3 stars

Standard rooms, very small and cramped. Got stuck in their elevator for over a hour, but they tried to make amends and comped one night plus meals, and upgraded to 1st floor Executive Room, which is nice and roomy. The Executive room was clean, but 1st floor noisy because of tile floors and constant rolling carts, but really not bad at all.

Stay elsewhere...

If you happen to find a good room-rate online, which I did, you won't get the same kind of service you would otherwise. This means, if you get any kind of discount you'll get snubbed. The staff was snobbish. Wireless connection was not available and dial-up cost $12 an hour. Breakfast was only included at certain 'rates.' If you decide to eat at the hotel's restaurant you're looking at paying $5 for a bagel the next morning. The room was so disappointing, even for $150 -- which was apparently a good deal. My toilet didn't flush properly. The air-conditioning/ heater in the room either blasted with ultra-high force or not at all. There was no information in the room regarding the hotel amenities. I had to ask whether there was a gym, whether room service was available, could I have a menu, etc. This is such a below average hotel in terms of the rooms. If you plan to hang out in the lobby or in the elevator, great. Otherwise, you'll try to find how to make your stay bearable. No newspaper, dismal rooms, and god forbid you find a good deal online, which still means you pay an unacceptable amount for what you get....

Liked the Wyndham clean and close to everything. Airport shuttle too.

from dachrist
Stayed at Wyndham in lieu of the hotel where my meeting was held, because it was much more affordable. And just as nice too, at less than half the price. This was Sunday evening, February 12, 2006.

Shuttle was available to local conference (major industry event), and to/from airport. Airport was only about a mile away too, so that was easy too.

Hotel was clean, bar & restaurant onsite, with room service too.

Rooms clean, bathroom, ameneties, everything clean, working and in order. Hookup for high speed connection to your computer.

I would stay here again.

Very nice stay

I give this hotel a 4-star rating. It’s a little more luxurious than your typical Best Western hotel. It is located about a minute drive north of downtown San Jose on North First Street. There is also the Light Rail station right outside the hotel. The Light Rail is like a street car that travels on a dedicated set of tracks along the center of the street. It travels up and down North 1st St.; as well as through much of San Jose.

There is convenient restaurant downstairs with a nice breakfast buffet in the morning. Across the street there is a Japanese restaurant with good sushi, if that’s your fancy. Other than that, you’ll have to head south five minutes into downtown or head north 5 to 10 minutes to the massive Mcarthy Ranch plaza located just inside the city of Milpitas.

You can do better

stayed for 3 nights during the first week of January 2006. Although the lobby is well done, the rooms mirror motel standards. Also I was uncomfotable leaving my car in their parking lot each night after noticing broken glass from a previous 'break in' covering one of the slots.

Decent price; Snobby, unhelpul/unsympathetic staff

The "non smoking" room on the fifth floor had obviously previously been a MAJOR smoking room. Couldn't help feeling that I was getting second-class service from the desk help. I'd bought the room on Hotwire the day prior. Service was cold and slow, but fairly efficient. Good location, decent price.

Nice stay here

from Kev1351
Stayed here on November 5, 2005 while in San Jose to attend a Sharks game. Excellent stay. The hotel is right on the light rail line ($1.75 each way) which brings you downtown to the free shuttle that takes you to the arena. At check in was given a non smoking king room which was fairly big and clean. Newer carpet and a comfortable sitting chair. The bedding was a comforter on top of a blanket with down pillows. A nice touch. The heating/air was temperature controlled and easily adjusted. No plumbing problems like the previous guest. There was a wedding going on, but no noise was detected in our quiet room. Nice pool and small fitness room. Paid $57 total via a bidding site. I would stay here again

Serious maintenance problems

from A TripAdvisor Member
This hotel looks nice, but isn't well maintained. On my most recent stay, there was a plumbing problem with the first room they gave me. They moved me to a room with a broken heater. The next room also had a broken heater, but I gave up. The ice maker on that floor was broken. There is no ice maker on the first floor, so I took the elevator to the 2nd floor. A fellow guest in the elevator told me that HE had had to change rooms due to plumbing problem (different from mine). To cap it all off, when the elevator stopped, we were confused until we figured out that it was the correct floor (2nd), but the indicator in the elevator read "3"!

Too bad. Not a bad looking hotel and the location isn't bad either (near the airport and light rail). But the place has serious maintenance problems.
