Character, Comfort, and Exceptional Service at an Unbeatable Price

We happened upon the Moorpark Hotel by chance; and were immediately taken with it. The theme is impressive, yet not overdone, and plush accommodations welcomes you. The manager on-site physically searched for a service of interest, and with that, we knew that we were in good hands. The only thing left to say is, 'Build more Joie De Vivre hotels, please!'

Pleasantly Surprised

We stayed at the Moorpark Hotel because I was having lasix surgery across the street. We were very pleasantly surprised when we arrived. The fireplace was burning and fresh fruit set out in the lobby. Our room was very nicely furnished and very comfortable. The pool area was great with individual cabanas & the jacuzzi tub was hot!! At the end of the day, dinner at the restaurant was excellent. We would hightly recommend this hotel while staying in San Jose.

This hotel was great. I dont think i can say one bad thing about it. The customer service is outstanding. You cant beat the price. Its in a good location. I will stay there a lot more in the near future.

I can't say anything but positive things about the Moorpark. After missing a conection in Tx that then required me to fly to LAX and THEN to San Jose, and losing my luggage in the process, all I wanted was to soak in the tub at my hotel. The Moorpark staff was very helpful during this stressful time. Even wanted to call me when my luggage did arrive! Don't forget about the fresh choc chip cookies st the front desk when you stay there! When I walked past the front desk to enquire about what time they come out (9 pm), I got a call to my room alerting me they were ready!! My room was near the highway and it never bothered me. The gym had a great supply of free weights and working equipment. I loved the design of the bathroom. And the tub was great to soak in. I would reccommend anyone to stay there. First class!!

Great for San Jose Activities

Was a little afraid to stay here because of the reviews, but was pleasantly surprised by the staff, location and accomodations. We booked a package deal through Travelocity which included wine for 2 each night at the hotel, continental breakfast for two each morning, as well as two adult tickets to the Winchester Mystery House (that run $20 each). All this for $129 was hard to beat. Rooms were nicely furnished, pillows and bedding were as soft as goose down. Everything was very clean. The best thing is how central it is to most activities (8 minutes to museums, wine tasting, Dave and Busters, and just 3 minutes to the Mystery House). From the Decor you know they don't cater to children, but they were very nice with their treatment toward our little one. Would definitely stay there again if traveling for fun to San Jose.

I should have listened to you

I should have listened. Everytime I ignore the advice on this site, I turn out wrong. Someday I'll learn. It's a cute hotel, but just average. Nothing special. For the same price you can get more. Biggest complaints: no room service for breakfast. Big problem for me. When I asked to borrow an ethernet cable to use the high speed I ended up with a $10 charge on my bill which I did not discover until later. It's not bad, but the reality does not live up to the advertising.

Nicely Decorated

Stayed at Moorpark in early January 2005. Not the most convenient location, but it has ample parking. The hotel was very nicely decorated inside. The room was large, quiet and clean.

The hotel restaurant however was terrible. It offered Japanese food, but they had no idea what it is. Miso soup was more like miso stew and a pork cutlet was served on top of a random bed of iceberg lettuce.

The hotel did not satisfy my business needs. I had a terrible time trying to connect to the internet. When I finally asked for help, it took one hour for someone to see what the problem was. After all that it still didn't work. I could not really get any of my work done. Maybe if they can fix this problem then I will return.

This place is not so great!!

Do not stay here! The decor is okay, but I was not impressed with the service they have. Prices are reasonable but that is the kind of service you get. I normally stay at the Hotel Valencia but it was sold out. Stay if you want a low price but beware of what you are going to get.

This place is fantastic! Fantastic rooms, great service. Stay here as opposed to Santana Row - it's a short cab-ride away. I was pleasantly surprised - and the price is reasonable for what you receive.

Found this hotel on Expedia and was impressed with the amenities offered for the rate. We paid $109 for a room in the Club Level, which included a complimentary continental breakfast, complimentary glass of wine at the bar, cookies and milk at the elevator landing as an evening snack. Loved the Aveda amenties!!

The bed was comfortable - the staff in the bar & restaurant were very friendly. Would definitely stay again and plan on looking into their sister properties.

Top Local Tips for San Jose

Winchester Mystery House This is pretty near the hotel and it's a lot of fun. They conduct tours all day and bring guests through the house pointing out the interesting tidbits of Mrs. Winchester's life and home building.

Santana Row Santana Row is a must-do. You can have dinner, see a movie, sit on a bench and hear some free music, play outdoor chess, shop at upscale boutiques and retail outlets, or just find a comfortable, tree-shaded spot to people-watch. There are also some wonderful outdoor wine bars and cocktail lounges, perfect for a drink with friends or just a great place to meet people. We recommend dinner at Consuelo’s for some incredible interior-Mexico food—the guacamole with home-made tortillas cannot be missed, and choose sangria over a margarita, unless you are just a tequila fanatic…in which case you can choose to have one made from a nearly unlimited list of premium tequilas. Also, entrees are served a la carte and can be shared—the entrees themselves are not huge, but the sides you order are, so sharing is a good idea! Don’t miss the papas (au gratin potatoes) and the torte de enotre, which is a cornbread-like dish to die for!

Shopping and dining nearby Santana Row (upscale shopping and dining, movies) is a short drive away. Movies and some restaurants (Mimi's, Jamba Juice, Starbucks) as well as Target and Barnes and Noble a few miles away in the other direction. Close to freeway access.
