I've stayed at perhaps 500 hotels in my personal and biz travels. I remember less than 10. The Andrews is one of the ten.
Not fancy, loads of character, great staff, wonderful restaurant, nice breakfast, love the wine in the lobby in the evening. Great way to meet folks and chat.
Reminds me of Hotel Trianon in Gare de Lyon outside of Paris.
In the words of the governator, "I'll be back."

A well-run, friendly, quiet hotel. Clean rooms, an ample breakfast and helpful staff all deserve a positive mention. But make sure that you book a room looking out on the street instead of one overlooking the rear parking lot, as this parking lot also serves as a back entrance to a noisy restaurant. Loud music, the banging of car doors, the shouting of late night revellers into the small hours are all part of the questionable joys of occupying one of these rooms. The hotel itself has tried to deal with this noise problem - without success, however. Therefore: beware the rear side!

We love the Andrews. It's where we stay whenever we are in San Francisco and it's where we suggest our friends stay. Any number of hotels claim to be "European style" but the only one we know of that truly is is the Andrews. It's true of the rooms. It's true of the staff. It's true of the restaurant! During our most visit we discovered the restaurant and ate there each night of our stay. That wasn't our plan. It was just the way it worked out after eating there the first night. In short we love everything about the Andrews and can't wait to visit again.
