"This is such a wonderfully located hotel! You can walk to most any point within the city or find transportation, so you don't have to drive yourself.
We were in the City for the big September Bike Race. We walked the course as we watched the race and ate wonderful Italian and Chinese food! Even took strolls to Embarcadero, Fisherman's Wharf and Union Square.
Hotel is clean and quiet. Rooms are smallish but well appointed. Front desk was very helpful when asking for restaurant ideas and storing our leftover food!
This is going to be our SF hotel forever! "

Top Local Tips for San Francisco

Do not use American Airporter Shuttle!! I specifically asked to be dropped off at the SW hotel, the driver dropped me off at W hotel (Westin) insisting that this was the right hotel. After being up for 24 hours with less than 2 hours of sleep, 2 airplane flights, I was too tired to notice I was at the wrongf place until he already left. Had to pay taxi another 10.00 to get to the right hotel.The front desk at Westin hotel called a cab for me and were very gracious. Too bad I just did not stay there!

Cycle over the Golden Gate Bridge I hire a bike and ride over the Golden Gate bridge every time I go to San Francisco. If you ride all the way to Tiburon (via some lunch and a glass of wine in Sausalito), it's a good ride and you can catch the ferry back to Pier 1. Just make sure you check the ferry timetable carefully as it's a long wait if you miss one!

Go San Francisco card No way you can do everything included on the card in one day. And to get the 1 way cable car ticket had to go to Market Street area at 10 in the morning which makes for a late start of your day. The 30 minutes of the Go Car Tour rentals looked like fun but pass was only valid from the Market Street location, not the wharf side and that wasn't indicated in the brochure. We rented bikes, rode over Golden Gate bridge, did the trolley and harbor cruise plus discount on dinner. Cards plus hotel was worth the cost.
