Great location and ambiance

Centrally located, adequate rooms, very welcoming lobby and staff. We were there during an anti government protest and there were many 'unsavory types' lingering out front. Thought the staff could have done a better job in removing them from the area immediate to the front entrance. Other than that it was great. I'll stay there next time!

Cramped and inadequate

We arrived at the hotel on New Year's Eve, and were shown to our room. It was tiny. This is not a cheap hotel but the queen size bed offered very little room around it. The television was on the cupboard to the side at an angle which made it impossible to view from the bed - unfortunately there was no where else to sit. The heater didn't work, the fridge worked very noisily. The bathroom was minute, anyone of slightly over medium build could not have fitted on the loo, bath tiles were cracked, the bath base was scratched and scruffy. A very little was done to try and help 'but - they explained - this is a historic hotel'. My partner explained that his mother was older than this and was in much better condition. The hotel is fronted by a gloriously costumed beefeater who took the car away. There is a substantial parking charge. I complained loudly and the parking fee was refunded. Convenient but small

The Sir Francis Drake could not be at a better location for convenience. The doormen are great and the old style decore is neat. The rooms themselves have much to be desired. The room that we stayed in was about a 9 by 12 room with a window air conditioner. For $450 a night this definately wasn't the kind of luxury that we were expecting.
