Public areas win over rooms

The public areas of this hotel are beautiful. There is a large atrium the height of the entire hotel. The lobby, restaurant, bar are within this atrium area. It's a nice area to hang around.

However, the rooms are not as special, just average, and the bathrooms are tiny.

Cool Atrium

Wouldn't stay here on my own dime. The atrium/lobby is a remrkable feature but nothing else worth the price, unless you get a good view. My eighth floor view to the south wasn't much. Some wrote $42/day to park. I paid $28 in June.

Couldn't get the local sports station in my room to watch an A's game so I went to the bar and they didn't get it there either. The bartender could hardly understand what I wanted and had to surf the channels to see if he got it. Pretty lame for a high priced joint.

Stayed over the Labor Day weekend and found everything neat, clean and well run.
Rooms have balconies and mine gave a beautiful view of Telegraph Hill! The hotel only offers valet parking at about 45$, but next door at the Embacadero Center you can get public parking for 27$ per day.

Labor Day Weekend Retreat

Spent the night before Labor Day at the Hyatt Regency San Francisco in the Embarcadero Center. Got a good rate of $82 plus hotel taxes,etc. We stayed in a tenth floor room facing the Ferry Building and with a nice view of the bay. The room had a king size bed, desk, overstuffed chair with an ottoman and still lots of room. Used Trip Advisor to find an excellent restaurant (Pacific Catch on Chestnut & Fillmore). If you stay on Sundays or Holidays the street parking is free which saves you a good piece of change. The Ferry Building had several restaurants which seemed to be bustling with activity. You can use the Muni bus lines to get to most places. Just call them and tell them where you are and where you're going.

Good experience and will return. I upgraded to business floor and had a wonderful room and access to wireless and a printer. The Equinoc restaurant had good food and a super view. Check in was easy and staff was accommodating. Close to number of good restaurants.

SF Goes Vegas

This hotel is like Vegas with crazy carpet prints and a huge feel. Rooms are well kept and very nice. This Hyatt has good specials and rates throughout the year. Its location is a bit removed and the largeness turns me off a bit. Many rooms have large balconies with furniture a nice feature

A Good Value

We stayed at the Hyatt Regency - San Francisco (at Embarcadero Center) two nights in mid-May. We got an excellent senior citizen rate. The room was comfortable with an outstanding view of the Bay Bridge and the newly redone Ferry Building.

As others have noted the bathroom area was a bit small compared to most Hyatts.

Note that this is a convention hotel, so you may have to contend with large groups. As with many San Francisco hotels, parking is very expensive.

The food in the main hotel restaurant was very good, but prices were high. Fortunately, with the revitalization of the Ferry Building and the surrounding Embarcadero area there are a number of dining opportunities nearby.

We were forewarned about the expensive valet parking at the Hyatt (approx $42 with tax per day), so that was a known negative. But the room was dated, the hallways lining the atrium included dusty, disheveled fake greenery, and the service was lousy. No friendly faces. Personnel seemed to have the "This IS the Hyatt" mentality, which was very unwelcoming. We were charged mini-bar charges electronically because we added something to the fridge (charges were dropped when we complained). Had to request additional towels and coffee. WAY overrated and overpriced. Will never stay at a Hyatt again. The ony positive thing was the cable car stopped right in front of the hotel, which was convenient for touring.

Perfect Vacation Hotel

I recently stayed at the Hyatt Regency in San Francisco. What i found was a pleasant atmosphere with an even friendlier staff. The room was spacious enough for my husband and I as well as our yougest son, who thoroughly enjoyed the view from the room. We were also able to enjoy breakfast in the restaurant before a long day on the town- all conveniently located within walking distance from the hotel.

Average Hotel, Great Staff

The price of the hotel was about $250. The room had a great view and was in a convenient location. But the room wasn't anything special for the price I paid. The best part of the hotel was the staff. They were helpful with the many questions I had about get from the hotel to the various tourist destinations.

We stayed at the Hyatt Regency San Francisco from February 29 March 3. The room was very spacious with a great bay view. Even though we were on the fourth floor, the noise from the street was not disturbing. Front desk and concierge staff were both very helpful. The hotel is great for meetings and conventions (our reason for staying) but a little far from the Union Square area (still in walking distance though). Shops and restaurants within the Embarcadero Center close early enough for it to be inconvenient. There are few places to grab a dinner after 6 pm other than the hotel restaurant which charges exorbitant prices for room service (i.e. $4 for a glass of milk). The open concept lobby is impressive with the numerous glass elevators. The bed and pillows were not overly comfortable but the room was extremely functional. I especially appreciated the armchair and automan in the room. The sliding door is a nice touch but there were pigeons on our balcony so we never kept it open. The bathroom was clean but a little run-down definitely not what I was expecting from a Hyatt. One small complaint they showed the Oscars on a big screen in the lobby. Because it is open concept, we could hear the telecast in our rooms! If I were returning to San Francisco as a tourist, I wouldn't stay at this hotel there are much better deals closer to Union Square or Fisherman's Wharf. However, for a conference/meeting or business within the Financial District, the hotel was very conveniently located.

$11 day pass on cable cars You can ride cable cars all day for $11. Way fun way to spend a day.

supersightseeing tours - use caution used supersightseeing to visit pacific highway and bus door would not close on the way back from excursion. it was late past 8 pm and manager of company would not listen to bus driver refused to send bus to replace impaired bus. we were left waiting and watching the poor bus driver try his hardest to fix the problem. He is not a mechanic. Inconsiderate of passengers and staff by management . I would not use this company ever again. Its a shame because the bus driver Richardwas excelllent in his getting us around and narration of locations.

Don't miss the Ferry Building Be sure to visit the Ferry Building at the foot of Market Street. The renovated interior is full of great places to eat and shop. The oysters at Hog Island Oyster Co are tops, as is the cheese at Cowgirl Creamery.
