okay hotel
from usaloversHotel exceeded my expectations
from lozmowThere were heaps of food choices close by (particularly if you like seafood). We ate breakfast a couple of times at the hotel and it was OK. There was not a huge buffet or anything but it did the job and for $10 I thought that was good value.
I would certainly stay here again and would have no hesitation in recommeding it.
Great choice

from LakersFanCheck-in was fast, friendly and easy. I received the King Non-Smoking room that I had requested. My room, #403 was on the top floor overlooking the intersection of Beach and Leavenworth. I opened the window and enjoyed the fresh air and the sounds from the street below. I was neither kept awake nor woken by the street noise.
Room #403 had a comfortable king bed with the new-style Courtyard linens and five feather pillows. The couch was a queen-size sofa bed. The work desk and chair were functional and comfortable. The hotel offers complimentary Wayport high speed internet service which worked perfectly. The TV had more cable channels than most Courtyard TV’s and a selection of pay-per-view movies.
The bathroom was reasonably large and had a combination tub and shower. It was perfectly clean and there were towels for four. There was a small coffee maker in the bathroom but I opted for the free coffee in the lobby each morning.
The Courtyard Café is located on the 2nd floor. Lilly makes great omelets and is also very friendly. The rest of the breakfast buffet did not seem quite up to Courtyard standards. It was less expensive to order a cooked omelet with coffee, juice and toast than to get the hot buffet.
I stopped by the exercise room also located on the 2nd floor. There were two treadmills, a stationary bike, and a universal-style weight machine. A TV was available to help pass the time and there were fresh towels and ice water.
My one negative comment about this hotel is the condition of the hallways. The rooms have been re-done recently and look great. The hallways seemed dark and the carpet and décor outdated.
The location of the hotel is great. It is just one short block from Fisherman’s Wharf, one block from the Cable Car turn-around and the street car lines are just around the corner. It is literally in the center of everything happening in the Fisherman’s Wharf area. For those who need their daily Starbucks coffee, it is also right around the corner. There is a Hooters on the ground floor of the hotel as well as a pizza place. Also in the same block are an In-N-Out Burger, a Walgreens drug store, both Hertz and Avis car rental, a liquor/deli, and two ice cream shops. The Cannery, with more shops and restaurants is just across the street to the West.
I did not drive, but the Courtyard offers very reasonable parking for $15.00 per day next door to the hotel.
When in San Francisco again, I will likely stay at the Courtyard Fisherman’s Wharf. It was a good value considering the town was full, very convenient, and very friendly.
Nice, but....
from Eric95403As someone mentioned in an earlier post, the breakfast was WAY over priced, but we really didn't know what to expect and it was convenient. We had the breakfast buffet. It was just a notch above a free breakfast at a Residence Inn. They did have some items that you wouldn't find at an RI breakfast (omelets, potatoes, any style egg)...but I could have done without those items for $13 price tag. There was a Denny's (ugh) across the street, that might have been a better option.
The major problem had to do with those darned garbage trucks someone mentioned in another review. After a long previous day and a 12pm check out time, all I wanted to do was sleep in. No such luck, as I was awoken to the sound of garbage trucks outside my window that lasted from about 5am - 6am. Down the street there was a row of large dumpsters and they're not quiet when picked up and slammed down. It was literally like there was no wall there at all. The kids were up and there went my chance to sleep in. Our room was facing the street and parking garage on Beach St. Right before I went to sleep, I could easily hear a conversation of a group of people walking down the street. The windows are single paned, not sure if that was one of problems, but like I said it was like there was no wall or window there at all...the noise just came in so easily.
I read similar noise issues in other parts of the hotel. After the trucks left the area it was quiet, but that was of little consolation. Not sure if I'd stay there again, as it was the only hotel I found with 2 queen beds and suite in the area. Those are musts in my book. I think finding a quiet place to sleep will be a little more important next time.

Muir Woods Take a day trip to Muir Woods and drive up Highway 1 along the rocky coast. Gorgeous scenery.
Buy the muni passes If you are unwilling or unable to walk, best get the muni passes. With the extensive trolley, tram and bus services the day passes are a bargain!
A Note About the San Francisco Weather If you are coming expecting the warm, sunny California experience that’s not San Francisco – which is ok, just be prepared. While we were here in late May and early June the temperatures were between the mid 50’s and the lower 60’s, with a good breeze off the water. The combination of temperature, wind, and overcast skies can lead to a chilly experience if you are from a warmer climate. Many folks are apparently caught off guard by this since you see crowds of people all wearing new San Francisco jackets and sweatshirts.
