This IS the place to stay!!!

from A TripAdvisor Member
We stayed at the newest Residence Inn in San Diego for a week in September, 2004. The staff was helpful, the rooms were clean and spacious. The complimentary breakfast and evening meals were delicious. The hotel was everything and more!!! We booked reservations here when we return in November---and can"t wait!! Whether you are traveling single, with your spouse or your family----this IS the place to stay!!!

Great Hotel/reasonable price

Stayed at the Residence Inn for Spring break. When we arrived we discovered that they had cancelled all 3 of the rooms that we had reserved. We were able to provide proof that the general manager had e-mailed us the confirmation 2 days prior and they were quick to find us rooms. They did not have any 1 bedroom suites available, so they upgraded us to a 2 bedroom for no extra charge. The breakfast buffet is wonderful as are the evening snacks. Only drawback is that it is 10-15 minutes to downtown and not real close to a trolley station. It is easier to rent a car.

Great Stay at Residence Inn

Great Hotel. We stayed in the 2 bedroom kids suite. The kids room had a bunk bed, table and chairs and a TV/VCR combo. Worked out perfectly. Nice hot breakfast as well as a hot snack at 5:00 each weekday. The hot snack was pizza, chicken nuggets, etc. Great for our daughter who is almost 2. Very clean and well managed. Would definitely stay there again.

Fantastic Hotel !

This property is fantastic - well managed, even better maintained, very clean. My wife, 2 kids, in-laws & I spent 2 weeks in July 2004, while visiting San Diego Theme Parks. We all stayed in a 2 bedroom suite - more than enough room for all of us. This hotel has a great location - 10 minutes to Sea World, the Zoo, Beaches, Downtown/Airport, minutes from Fashion Valley Shopping Mall. The staff is very friendly, very professional. The morning Breakfast Buffett had a good selection of food. After spending the day at a very hot Theme Park, it was refreshing to "come home" and enjoy a swim. The pool was well maintained - cleaned daily, sometimes twice a day. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel - it was our "home away from home"!

Loved the free breakfast

from alohafriend
My family stayed 5 nights and loved the hotel. The rooms are great and the free breakfast and dinner snack really helps a family keep within their budget on vacation. The food was great. The pool is nice, but too many kids acting up. I would definitely stay there again.

Loved the Marriott Residence Inn - Mission Valley

from hockeyIllinois
My family of five just returned from a week at the Marriott Residence Inn/Mission Valley. I had read many great reviews about this hotel here at Trip Advisor and they were all right on! We had a kids suite which was wonderful. The only "minus" is that the one bathroom is located through the master bedroom which the kids need to walk through during the night. The breakfasts were terrific and the evening suppers were great - especially for kids. Also, the staff was friendly and the front desk had preprinted directions for everyplace we were going to visit! We would definitely recommend this hotel for families.

Nice stay at the RI.

from hartmann4
Our whole family just returned from a week in FABULOUS San Diego. We stayed at the RI with my brother-in-law and his girlfiend. I booked us into a two bedroom/two bath suite and it worked out wonderfully. We had a very good expirence at this hotel and it was a good place if your traveling with children. I'll go through all the pluses first: the staff was nice, pool was just fine (wasn't heated but was warm enough), our room was nice and clean (although a bit smaller than I had expected). One big plus over other hotels on Hotel Circle is the RI sits back off the road, we didn't hear any highway noise at all. It is in a great location as you're right off HWY 8 and only a half mile from HWY 5. It took us 10 minutes to get downtown and to/from the airport, 30 min. to the Wild Animal Park and Lego Land and your right down the Hwy (5 min) from SeaWorld. You certainly want to rent a car if your staying anywhere on Hotel Circle. We read all the other reviews which stated to get down to breakfast early and we never had any problems, plenty of food and not over crowded. My brother-in-law always got up later than us (8:30-9) and they said it was pretty packed. My husband's parents stayed at the Days Inn just up the road on Hotel Circle and complained that is was very noisy due to the rooms exterior entrances (but she did say the Pam Pam had good food) and they had NO closet space. I rarely heard outside of the room noises, and we were on the pool side of the building. The free high-speed internet was very handy (BYO laptop) but we had some difficulty in setting it up...after calling the 800 help line it worked just fine.

Now for the complaints: the parking spaces are WAY TOO SMALL, but that's wasn't only for the hotel, it was like that everywhere. We had a rented a Grand Marquis and had to try to find an end of the row spot so we could open at least one side of the car doors most of the way. Another issue that came up at check out was local phone calls are charged at .75 cents but there was no sign in our room that said that... thankfully the manager took all the phone charges off after some convincing.

All in all it was a nice, clean hotel and I would recommend it if your looking to stay in Hotel Circle

Excellent Choice

from A TripAdvisor Member
This was one of the absolute best hotels I've ever stayed at. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful with whatever questions I had. We were checked into a smoking room the first night, and by the next afternoon, while we were out, they had our things moved to a nonsmoking room right next to the pool.
Most of all, they served complimentary breakfast every morning with an abundance of wonderful food to choose from. My friends and I never eat breakfast, but every morning there we were up at 7:30 to eat.
Everything we wanted to do, the Zoo, Old Town, the beaches, Balboa Park, etc were only a short 5 minute, at the most, ride on the very driver friendly interstates.
The hotel is geered more towards families, but my friends and I, who are in our 20s, enjoyed every minute of it. I would definitely recommend staying here if you seek excellent service, great breakfast, and easy access to the attractions of San Diego.

Loved the hotel

This hotel is an absolute must for anyone with children. The ameneties are great, the service is excellent. All the staff made us feel welcome and at home. All the local attractions are close by. A car is very helpful, however the local bus stops at the end of the drive and the tram system gets you around the city. If I was to return to this area I would most definitely stay here again.

Nice family hotel

from A TripAdvisor Member
My husband and I stayed in a one-bedroom suite for three nights with our two small children and had a very pleasant experience for the price. The room was smaller than other similar suites we've stayed in. I think a two-bedroom suite for a family of four would be ideal and still very worth the money. We weren't impressed with the cleanliness of the room due to small things like spots on the bathroom floor. We did enjoy the summer bbq they held on our first night there, and the breakfast buffet every morning was tasty and convenient, although very crowded! The pool area is great. There are no frills at this hotel, but the staff is pleasant and the other guests we encountered were friendly and polite. This is far from a resort where we could hang out all day and be entertained, but it's a perfectly fine home-base for visiting San Diego.

Top Local Tips for San Diego

Seaworld Platinum Passport for East Coast Residents If you live in fairly close proximity to any of the many Annheuser Busch theme parks on the East Coast (VA, Tampa, Sesame Place), you can purchase a platinum passport at Seaworld in San Diego that allows you unlimited admission and preferred parking to all of their properties. This particular passport is far better than the ones you can purchase in Virginia or Tampa. We've been doing this for years, and the price is unbelievable! Don't forget "Dine with Shamu" - which is also discounted for passport holders!

There's everything to do in San Diego As you can tel lfrom my review i'm kinda a critical person but but San Diego is a great place, there were tons of attractions and things to do seperate from the other well known things to do there (Seaworld, Zoo, legoland) there's downtown, seaport village, the harbor has tons of things to do, it was a very layed back enjoyable vacation.

location!!!! It is minutes from the airport, close to downtown, zoo and seaworld are minutes also. One of the bigget shopping centers is 2 miles away.
