Wish I could have stayed longer

The grounds were breath taking, service was quick and pleasant, and the food was exceptional at the brunch. I sincerly felt that I spent my money wisely in choosing this establishment.

A great place to relax

My wife and I have stayed at the Rancho Bernardo Inn several times over the past 7 years. We are always welcomed by a friendly attentive staff and comfortable accomodations. The Restaurants have incredible food and the patio dining has a great view of the golf course. We look forward to staying there everytime we have business in the area.

Restful retreat with old California ambiance

Arriving at the Rancho Bernardo Inn, the first thing you notice is that it is tucked away in residential surroundings. This truly adds to the peace and quiet of your stay. Staff was very friendly and always greets you warmly throughout the property.
Rancho Bernardo Inn is a great property for strolling as it is multi-level with many interesting 'nooks' to investigate; old fountains, abundant varieties old growth trees, a touch of wildlife (bunnies, squirrels, chipmunks and cranes spotted on the golf course).
Beautiful view from the room, looking over the golf course. Rooms are properly equipped with conveniences (iron/iron board, hairdryers, ....). King room bed was comfortably inviting for a great night's rest. Room decor comfortably elegant including many wonderful uses of antique pieces. Jacuzzi tubs are conveniently nestled in various locations through out the property (most hotels only have them near the swimming pool).
Lunch included wonderful dining on the bricked terrace of the Veranda Restaurant. The food was wonderfully prepared and presented. The wine selection is excellent. In the evening it was nice to sit on the veranda and have a drink with friends taking in the warmth of the crackling fire in the outdoor fireplace! This terrace looks out over the golf course, wonderful carefree sense of peace and relaxation - just sit there and soak it up!
Brunch on Sunday at El Bizcocho was a real treat. The buffet included literally everything (from soup to nuts you might say!). Hand carved ham, freshly prepared risotto, omelettes made to your own taste, freshly baked breads, shrimp, crab, salads ... and save room for the scrumptious desserts. Take your time and savor this brunch, wonderful way to relax and visit with family or friends. Staff on hand to serve our table included at least three waiters. Great service.
Other outlets visited included the bar, which has a great 'pub' feel. Nice place to enjoy a sporting event on the large screen television or play a game of pool.
All in all we plan to return to Rancho Bernardo, I truly had a restful, enjoyable stay.

I had my wedding at the Rancho Bernardo Inn April 9, 2005 and I have nothing but wonderful things to say. Karissa Calaustro my event coordinator was more than helpful and helped make the event such a success. If you are looking for the perfect place to have your wedding I highly recommend the Rancho Bernardo Inn.

A trip without the kids

I spent 5 nights here in February on a business/leisure trip. I left my 3 toddlers at home in London with my husband. This hotel had a great smell (all those pines), great rooms (first floor room straight out onto a heated pool). I had a great time relaxing. The bar (which I understand from colleagues) was poor, the gym was miniscule and the spa/treatment area was very cold. Feels like they need to spend more money on these things. Would not go back as this was not a good value hotel

Just stayed at the Rancho Bernardo Inn,I was extremely impressed that
such a place exsisted so close to me and was so unaware. The staff was very helpful (we needed an early check-in) about our needs. The rooms were spacious and had the most wonderfull view of the pool area, the fire pit and the inviting well tended landscaping. I always hate checking in anywhere I go, I was pleasantly surprized at how effortless they made it appear. Checkout is also such a tedious adventure the again like check-in was accurate and prompt. No hidden surprizes. We were attended to within record time when I called the front desk to inform them that the iron was not working and neded another asap. Again I was dumbfounded that one appeared within 5 mintues of my request, and with out having to request a second time , which is what almost always happens elsewhere. My only dissapointment was that we did not have more time to spend there and explore. My husband and I will certainly give rave reviews and can not wait to recommend and revisit, hopefully soon! Thank you

A favorite golf destination

As a member of JC Resorts, I have the opportunity to play a number of courses in the San Diego area. Although I live closer to several of the courses, my favorite destination is the Rancho Bernardo Inn. In contrast to one report on this site, I have found the staff at the Pro Shop most helpful and warm. Warm and friendly people usually get a warm and friendly response, no matter where they go.

The starter and rangers are great.

I have found the course a bit easier than some of the other JC courses. The outside dining is exceptional and overlooks the 18th. Parking is tight.

I would recommend RBI to anyone.

Visited for brunch and looked around....

I visited the Rancho Bernardo Inn in the company of locals for a Sunday Brunch. This is served in the Bizcocho main dining room which overlooks the golf course. It is a roomy dining room with an ample selection of breakfast favourites; omelette bar, carving station, fruit, desserts, hot and cold specialities. These were all well made and presented. The brunch also includes free flowing champagne and fresh squeezed juice. Overall, I found the service, variety, and setting below that of others buffets in town. Our server was busy with several other tables, and we were neglected for a good portion of our breakfast awaiting plate pick up and beverage refills. It appears the shift was short staffed and pulling double duty. Afterward we toured the grounds. It is attractively landscaped, yet not on par with competing properties in the area. Interior areas in the main building suffered from low ceilings and had a slightly tacky motif. Based on what I saw, it appears hard to justify classifying the property as a luxury resort., especially as it prices itself as one. Sunday Brunch for four over $ 100.00

We were able to find a great spa/dinner/breakfast package; call the hotel directly to the latest and the greatest. The spa and dining experiences were great. The front desk and room service needs improvement.

Loved the Rancho Bernardo Inn

We stayed at the Rancho Bernardo Inn for a week in July 2004. We loved every minute of our experience here. From the time we pulled up to the front door, the staff was friendly and helpful. They go out of their way to make you feel special and pampered. Our room was spacious and clean with a private patio at the adult pool. The grounds are meticulously clean and beautifully landscaped, with lots of private areas to sit and relax. We had breakfast, lunch, and dinner outside on the patio. The food and staff were superb, and the views are amazing. This was one of the nicest resorts we've stayed in, and have reservations to go back for a long weekend in Sept. We can't wait to be back there!

Top Local Tips for San Diego

Wildlife Park for Weddings The Wildlife Animal Park in San Diego did a fabuloso job in cordinating my sister's wedding. It was top notch and worth considering for a wedding. The best part is that the animals can be heard during the reception and you can be in the zoo when all the other guests have left. Visit the Wildlife Park

It's in a residential area It was interesting to see where it was located. In the middle of a bunch of homes. Villas and golf courses. Be sure to get directions from the concierge if it's your first time there.

Tip: Don't stay at the Rancho Bernardo Inn! Don't stay at the Ranch Bernardo Inn. Terrible service, terrible food, terrible place. Dead grass on the golf course is really attractive!
