Run away

I can't even begin to list the number of things I was lied to about this "hotel," but I will try because you need to know.
If you are told your room will be ready when your flight gets in, it won't be. If you're told you can use their shuttle to/from the airport, they will refuse to pick you up.
This place sits next to at least one strip club. If you're in town without a car (like I was), your choices for food include Jack-in-the-Box, and Denny's.
You will probably have to change rooms at least once, because of odors, dripping plumbing, or some other catastrophe that is unimaginable at any respectable hotel.
You will NOT recieve the wakeup call you ask for, so if you do decide to stay here (don't, just don't), bring your own alarm clock. However you probably won't need it because the military personnel and hookers running up and down the stairs all night will keep you awake enough.
The morning following this nightmare I discovered long red hair and makeup accessories in between my children's bedsheets. All of my family has brown hair.

Think twice, you will be disgusted.

I am the General Manager for Good Nite Inn Seaworld location. I was transferred to this property at the end of March 2005. Since I have taken over the property we have made many changes. We are currently in the process of a multi-million dollar renovation which is just about complete. We are renovating the guest rooms to include: new carpet, new tub and tiled bathrooms, beautiful granite vanity, new furniture and paint. In addition to the guest rooms, we have remodeled the lobby, and will finish up with updating the landscaping.

We value our guests comments and concerns and work towards responding in a timely manner.

This is a TOTAL roach motel!!!

This was the nastiest place I've ever seen. The carpet was filthy, the bathroom had mold growing on the floor and walls, there were chunks of dust hanging from the walls (like you'd see on a ceiling fan blade). The outside of the place looked awful, though I did not take pictures of that.... We fled to a clean place (The Hampton Inn next door is AWESOME!).

Thanks, Hotels for the two star rating this flophouse got. Next time, I'll read this website before I book anything!

I am the General Manager of the Good Nite Inn Seaworld area. I was transferred to this property in late March of 2005.

We are currently in the final stages of a multi-million dollar renovation. We are remodeling the guest rooms to include: new carpet, new tub and tiled bathrooms, new granite vanity area, new furniture, paint and decor. We have already remodeled the lobby, and will be updating our landscaping once all of the rooms are completed.

We value our guests comments and concerns and work to respond to our guests concerns in a timely manner.

Although it has only been a few months, we have made many changes to enhance the property.

Thank You

not a choice for family

Just echo the previous reviews. Don't go for price. You'd just get the cheap service and uncomfortable experience, especially if you are taking young children.

A Poor Choice!

Stayed one night and got the heck out! Dirty rooms, rugs not cleaned, poor TV reception and the staff seemed liked they could literally 'care less'
about most all complaints! Cheap price, but this place is not even on a par with a poor Motel 6. Avoid this dump!!!

I am the General Manager of the Good Nite Inn-Seaworld area. I took over the property in late March of 2005.

I am pleased to inform our future guests that we are in the final stages of our multi-million dollar renovation.

I am confident that our guests will find the property to be clean and comfortable. Our newly remodeled guests rooms have a lot to offer!

We have made tremendous improvments over the past few months.

Very Bad Place

from A TripAdvisor Member
Dirty rooms, poor service, drunks sleeping on our door stoop. Hotel staff was unwilling to do anything about it. Police came to move the drunks.

You get what you pay for...

For $50 a night, you can expect just that. Nothing fancy about it, just a place to sleep and shower. It could use a major updating and remodeling ~ a good face lift will improve its reputation. Being that the Hampton Inn is next door made my wife and I wonder why we didn't try there, had we known. But being locked in and having our room at the Good Nite Inn already pre-paid, we just didn't want to go through the hassle. It was later in the evening after a long drive down from Las Vegas.

Our stay was just for one (1) night, fortunate for us. Our room was relatively clean. It served its purpose. Some small stains on the carpet. The tub drain was a bit slow. Requested a non-smoking room (in advance), but it smelled a little musty. Not smoke. Perhaps it was just the odor of old curtains. Understanding that it was part of our road trip vacation, we didn't want to dampen our experience. Focusing on the negative aspects of our stay here would be just in vain. We perceive what we see in our minds eye. How we take it is up to us. The main objective was to get a good nights rest in eager expectation of the full day at Sea World the following morning. Of course there are countless of other places that are better, but then again, there are other places that are worse.

Denny's across the street (3 minute walk) was convenient. The desk staff was pleasant upon our arrival. Speedy check in. They even offered a wake up call if needed. Plenty of parking. The hotel was FULLY BOOKED, which says something about its merit. This was noted because the parking lot was full and the desk clerk had to turn away some customers because of no availability. I suppose most of the guests (like us) had no idea of the true substance of this accomodation.

Honestly, we wouldn't choose to stay here again. There are other places that are close to Sea World. I suppose it depends if you're on a budget or not. But for $50 a night, would you?

Didnt hate it but could use updating.

This was a last minute (trying to find cheapest) 1 night booking for Comic Con. Trying to get close but cheap. Arrived late at night (already had booking) and staff was on hand and ready to help. The area is average to average +. 24Hr drug store and Dennys in walking distance but lots of strip clubs. Not a horrible area but to people that dont leave their "gated communities", it may seem like not the best area either. Very close to freeways and Trolley that goes to downtown.

Staff was always helpful on phone and in person.
Parking was ok. Lot outside and lot under hotel. 1 of 2 elevators didnt work. Door card entry box was flaky. Had to get the staff to open it. But again, the woman there (Russian accent??) was VERY nice and helpful. Everything in room was clean and functional. Things seemed a bit old (AC, sheets, etc) but again, everything was clean and functional. Room had TV and fridge.
I dont know what people expect here from a 50 dollar a night hotel in a downtown vicinity. To complain about a waiting time at a restaurant across the street is just irrelevant. Strip clubs?? blame the city for zoning, not the hotel.
They did have coffee in the lobby in the morning.
I havent stayed in other places in San Diego for similar prices so I have nothing in that range to compare it to.
Sooo I would say, overall, Great price (this was Sat night during a BUSY weekend), good staff, average area, good location to conveniences (food, store, transportation), but hotel seems older and rooms seem like they could use some updating. Newer sheets would probably be the first thing to improve.

Holes in the walls and floors

from Xuareved
This place is a dump. I too was locked in by prepaying online. We had to stay in this dirty hotel for 2 nights. The front counter staff was rude. Our room had holes in the wall and in the floor. The place was so dirty I kept my bags zipped up for fear of something crawling in to them. No coffee machine in the room. No complimentary anything.

Next door is a Fairfield Inn. Stay there if you are looking for something close to Sea World and the freeway.

Be afraid....Very Afraid!

Be afraid.....very afraid. This place is a dump. The rooms should have been rented by the hour. Unfortunately, I was committed by the pre-paid and was stuck in this place.

I was first put in to one of their "older rooms" which had a nice view of the strip club and adult bookstore next door.

I asked to be moved the next day and was put in to a room next to the lobby. The newer room was a little better but not by much.

This place is definitely not family friendly. Bunch of drunk marine recruits on liberty coming in at all hours of the night.

The only positive thing is it's location. It is close to the freeway, Sea World etc. but it's worth driving an extra 5 minutes to stay somewhere else. I've learned my lesson the hard way. Vacations are too short to stay in a dump and it wasn't exactly cheap either. Thanks Expedia ( insert sarcasm).

Best rates for San Diego and close to the beach/Seaworld

from Gary-Judy
I've rented 2 rooms here for eight days each the last 2 summers. You cannot beat the room rates as you will see on all the hotel sites. The rooms have been clean and noise levels are ok. Not much in amenities, but I come here to shower, sleep, etc, since I am either at the beach all day or sight seeing around San Diego. Hotel caters to the traveling soccer teams, families on a budget, construction workers during the weekdays, etc. Everyone seems very friendly. Area is not the greatest but within walking distance to some restaurants, etc. Close proximity to freeways, Old town, grocery stores. Again you cant beat it for pricing and I have been coming to San Diego each summer for over 20 years.

Top Local Tips for San Diego

I'll be back STAY!! I like not having to worry about my kids near a pool. They can run in the grass area!

La Jolla Parking If you plan to visit La Jolla, go early or take a tour bus. Traffic can be awful, and parking hard to find. It's an incredibly beautiful place, if you can get to see it!!!

Very easy when you want to save gas in this area!!!! Close to everything including bus trolley and train!!!!!
