Not worth the money

from thesaxes
We paid $144 for a "kid suite." What we got was a normal sized room, divided into two. There was barely room to walk through the room! The bunk beds in the kids' part weren't even made up. There was a sign pointing out where the sheets were kept, so that I had to make their beds.

The room was filthy. Walking from the bathroom to the bed after a shower, my feet got dirty.

I won't be going back there.

will not stay again

My husband and I stayed here with our 15 month old daughter, because we thought this would be a family friendly place. The front desk was friendly, but the facilities were not quite what they make them out to be. We had a mini suite with a fridge, because we needed a place to keep bottles cold. It took us 20 min to find the fridge, then when we found it we were scared to put the milk in it. The crib they gave us for the baby was the most terrible crib I have ever seen. It looked like it was from a romanian orphanage. It was a small, rickety, metal crib that would move when she did. To make a long story short we did not sleep all night.
The room could have been cleaner. I kept my socks on all night because I was scared of the carpet. We had a lot of hallway noise in our room also.
This may be a good place for families with older kids, who want the bunk beds, but after paying $120, we will not stay here again.

t stay by hotel circle because its close to the Zoo.

OLD. mustyish smells. I have nothing bad to say about front desk or the pool area that the kids were playing in, or the free parking but unless your paying no more than $50.00 a night, and want to really enjoy San Diego, stay in another part of town (ie., Shelter Pointe, Downtown by sea village, or a little further away but still close enough Del Mar). I was really surprised by the 3 to 4 star ratings. I'm being generous with two.

An Average Family Hotel. Not for quiet couples!

from Saskheat
We spent 2 nights at this hotel on Presidents day weekend. Paid $69.95/night for a basic double room on internet rate. We were allowed to check in early due to unexpect itinerary change. The front desk staff were most accomodating, even changing rooms for us when the first room was totally inadequate. Actually the 1st room downright stunk!! Literally! Room 264 had a foul musty odor that I can only liken to a thousand damp ashtrays shampooed into the wall paper and carpeting. I can understand if this was a smoking room to have a slight odor, but for a non smoking room this is just bizarre. I've been in bars and bingo halls with less odor than this room. Staff made a hassle free room change for us 5 doors down and the room was adequate. The shower was starting to form a bit of grout mildew, which is supprising since this hotel looks like it was renovated in the last 3-4 years. I guess my standards are consistant with an airid climate where there isn't much mildew. The rest of the room was good. Linnen was clean and comfy.

The beds were average in comfort for a hotel. The pool was avg temp and very useable. Hot tub was nice and hot. The covered parking under the hotel was refreshing, due to the heavy rains we had. The continental breakfast was better than most. The only hot item was oatmeal, but they did offer Nestle mocha style beverages if youre into that. The girl in the breakfast room could really use an assistant to help clean up. The high volume of multiple kid families led to the breakfast room bordering on being filthy by 9am. Why can't people with kids clean up after their own when they have a spill or are finished eating? I do! I agree with other users posting comments about the kid and hallway noise in this hotel. There is more of it than I would want to put up with if I didn't have kids. For a couple looking for a quiet place to stay, I think I'd look elsewhere. I'd stay here again if I had my kids with me.

Nice but kind of noisy

from henry8wife
Just came back from this hotel for 3 nights nights during Presidents Weekend. The hotel was very clean. The front counter staff was extremely friendly and very accomadating. Mr. Medina, in particular was very nice. We checked in early, as our flight came in at 9:30 am and he put a rush on our room so that it would be ready for us. We even asked if we could get a room on the opposite side of the freeway and he looked and found one for us. As far as the noise is concerned, it was noisy because of the parents who let their children run and scream down the hallways. The parents are even noisy. I really don't think that people realize how their voices carry inside the rooms.
If you have kids, the 2 room suite with the bunk beds is the way to go. That was nice to have. The kids have their own TV in their room. (We brought the kids Playstation 2 console to use, but the TV's are older and we were unable to plug them in to play.)
Good value, clean, and nice staff.
I would stay here again.

San Diego with the family

from Disneyland9timer
Just spent 5 nights in San Diego. We stayed at the Comfort Suites
on the north hotel circle. There are 2 hotels within 2 miles. Ours
had a great staff and great suite room for the family. The room
had a king size bed and separate room with bunk beds. Two
tvs, fridge and microwave were nice to have. Price was excellent
for room, free breakfast and easy in and out location. The restaurant next door is fabulous. Eat down
in the lounge with the kids. Steaks are the best. Good kids menu.
We opted to not rent a car. The most we paid
for a taxi was $14 from the airport. Spent time at SeaWorld. The
whale show was cancelled due to the birth of a new baby- understandable but disappointing. Next day- was whale watching on
the Hornblower- great harbor tour and chance to see sealife.
The harbor area was awesome with much to see, do and eat.
Ate at Anthony's seafood. Great view- reasonable lunch prices.
Third day- was the city trolley tour. They pick up near most hotels
and you can spend the day getting off and on as needed to see the
sites you choose. It rained that afternoon so we popped into the
Natural History Museum. Help there was rude and the kids were bored.
Should have chosen the Science Museum. Last day was at the zoo.
We enjoyed the pandas, tram and park setting but must say the Omaha zoo far exceeds it for exhibits.
Much to do in San Diego- we enjoyed it all!

Just Okay

My husband and I stayed at the Comfort Inn over the Christmas holiday for 4 nights. The location was good, but the parking garage was tight. I reserved the first 3 nights on the Internet and got a pretty good rate. When I decided to stay a 4th night, I had to call direct to the hotel and they would not give us the same rate. When we checked in very late at night there was a new person at the front desk and she kept insisting that we were only booked for 3 nights and she wouldn't budge or do anything about it, except to refer us to a manager the next morning. I had a separate confirmation number for the 4th night but she didn't think to look that up. We cleared it up the next morning with another clerk, but boy was that woman exhausting! There was an odor in our room, probably from the carpet, and our TV remote didn't work. However, housekeeping was friendly and our room was cleaned very well every day. If I had known this was a family-friendly hotel I wouldn't have stayed there, because early in the morning we heard toddlers and older kids running and shouting in the halls which was very annoying. All in all, we would not stay there again.

Recommend this hotel - good value for families

from PugsRule
My husband and I stayed at this hotel with our 2-year old for four nights last weekand thought it was a good choice. It was reasonably priced, clean, and conveniently located to the San Diego attractions. There was a continental breakfast every morning, which was handy. The key reason I chose this hotel was that there was a separate room for our daughter with doors that actually closed (we stayed in a Kids Suite). Many suites in other hotels have another room but there is no door. This allowed her to go to bed early. The crib provided by the hotel was probably the best crib we've ever had in a hotel. We didn't notice any freeway noise but requested a room on the side opposite the freeway. We were on the 3rd floor and didn't have noise above us. My only complaint is that there isn't any eating places/retail (except for the steak house next door) near the hotel. It is also a bit confusing to get into/out of as it is right by Interstates I-8 and I-5. Overall, I definitely recommend.

Good family motel

Good value, great location, clean.
We stayed in August and found it very convenient to all the sights: Zoo, Sea World, beaches, etc. It's basic, but clean. Kids liked the pool, it had laundry facilities, the continental breakfast was ok(but crowded). The kid's suite was convenient for our 9&11 year olds. Freeway side is noisy, but tolerable. For a budget chain, I was pleased.

buyer beware

Our family spent 2 nights at this hotel in August. On the plus side, the hotel is well located, fairly priced and was clean. On the weak side is the hotel security (none to speak of) resulting in take out menus being placed under your room door, drunk young people in the pool/hot tub area drinking (despite rules to the contrary), "kid's Suites" which essentially are standard hotel rooms divided in half with french doors, and a modest breakfast buffet.

I would think twice about staying here again-especially given the numerous other options in the immediate area.
