great stay , great staff

from AndrewG
Our family of 2 adults & 2 kids [ 11 & 8 ] have just returned from a 4 night stay . Let me start by saying this is not a 5 star hotel but we had a great clean room 2 queen beds microwave & had booked a fridge but the room did not have one when we arrived , we rang reception & within 15 mins a fridge was delivered . [ free of charge ] . The breakfast was fantastic it had a choice of cereal, toast , bagels , muffins , fruit & tea coffee & juice . Our room was located in a quiet area above the pool . room 204 . The kids loved the pool & hot tub area it was a hard task to get them out . We did recieve a flyer for cheap food every night from outside sources but we were advised by the hotel staff not to order as they had recieved many complaints . The staff we very good & could not do enough to ensure our stay was great . We highly recommend this hotel & would stay here again if in the S.D area . Oh the restaurant next door Rickys was excellent , great food at a good price . For the price we paid $75 US per night it was great value . Thanks again to all the staff for a great stay .

Stinky, Small room

from gunga64
I have it as an Okay because of the price and free breakfast. The room is small and stinky, the shower was kinda weak. The ceiling had water stains, and the beds were rock hard. ABC, NBC and CBS came in very fuzzy on the tv. I think they use an antenna for the local channels. Local calls costs 75 cents. You could not control the AC well. Either off or on basicaly the controls did not work properly.

They told us we would get a fridge and a microwave. Got neither. When we complained they said they would look for a fridge and call us back never did. We called them and they said they are still looking. They called back and said they could not find one. The place was pretty empty I don't know why they couldn't.

Seems like a lot of Louisanna people living there. People without cars. It was a bit noisey with people yelling and cursing outside our door. We moved to another room and it was better.

The best thing was the free breakfast I give that above average. It's also the only reason we stayed 2 nights.

Also we were warned about people coming to the door and slipping food flyers into the crack. They told us we should not buy anything from them as they cook the food in their house and had complaints. We did receive these flyers every night.

Hotel Circle is not a pretty place. I would not stay there again. None of the hotels on that strip looked very clean or uptodate.

We ordered a pizza from the restaurant they had on the rooms desk, it was hard to find a good pizza in that area. A 13.00 pizza costs us 20.00 bucks with delivery. Not a good value.

The desk gives you a decent map to find your way around that was very nice.

t even think about it

Please, please do yourself a favor and do not book this hotel. The room was the size of a postage stamp and the bed was....well, as near as I could tell it was just two box springs on top of each other. Hardest bed I have ever felt. I could not walk the next day.

When I asked about another room, especially at $119 per night, they could do nothing and told me what a "deal" that was because rack was $149! If all you want is breakfast, its okay. The bed, room and attitude were not 2.5 star. A horrible experience on a vacation.

s actually okay

Okay, it's not the worst and it's not the best. It is a middle of the road hotel where you can expect a clean room, a nice pool (smaller than what appears on the website..those nasty wide-angle lenses) and a family atmosphere. Most importantly, the room was clean but a bit small as was the pool. All in all, a good experience at a middle class hotel in a very convenient area.

We didnt know this hotel was on a busy main rd overlooking busy traffic. Our room was tiny and the bathroom was very tiny. We did try to get an another hotel but everything was full. Our 3 children did enjoy the pool though and the breakfast. My husband and I found it very stessfull getting food from the breakfast room as it was so busy. Staff were nice and friendly. overall we were not impressed and would not stay here again.

Great Hotel for the Price

We stay at this comfort inn every time we visit Sea World. The staff is exceptional and very accomodating. Our rooms have always been clean and quiet. On one occasion, our rental car broke down and they held our room for us at the special rate until we arrived at midnight. Another time, we forgot our cell phone was plugged into the charger in the kitchen and the cleaning staff wrapped it in plastic to keep it from being damaged and returned it to the front desk. Our only complaint is that the breakfast room gets unbearably hot and crowded in the morning, but you can just sit at one of the tables by the pool or take a tray back to your room, so it's not really an issue. We will definately stay here again!

Would go back

from Pagora
I stayed here in November 2004. Lone female traveller from N Ireland.
Too complicated to use public transport from Airport on arrival & staff there not helpful. Taxi cost $17.
Check in was uncomplicated. Room was huge, clean, functional and bathroom was large, shower & bath. Serviced every day with ample towels and complimentary toileteries. Tea/coffee facilities provided daily during stay. Quiet every night, so slept well and felt quite safe. TV - lots of channel. Heating good. Lots of adverts for food delivery, restaurant beside hotel disappointing. Vending machines in the hotel grounds with good snack choices
Breakfast choice was exact same every day, but there was a medium variety and fresh bagels were good. It saved on mid day meal and was complimentary
Nearest Trolley/Train/Bus Station was 1 mile but there is a bus and tour stop at the door and these run every 15 mins alternate. 10 mins to heart of downtown and drivers excellent with directions.
Warning- Zoo by public transport is 4 hours, don't go on Sunday as you will be stranded half way. If on a budget, this is a clean, safe easy to access place. Highly recommend it. PS San Diego is beautiful. Sea World excelllent.

Great stay, perfect for families on a budget

from ssaa
A great choice for families. We got the 2 room suite through the hotel's own website for $110 a night. We got 2 connected rooms, one with a king murphy bed, a dining table with 4 chairs and a full kitchen(except oven) and a large bathroom. The other room had 2 queen beds, the sink vanity was outside, which is a plus with 2 kids. Everything looked new and clean. Housekeeping was excellent.
The breakfast was above average, lots of bread, fruit, cereal, juice and yummy coffee! Coin laundry was busy, but the other guests were very friendly. Pool was good, hot tub was fantastic. Front desk was friendly and helpful.
Location is very convenient for all the attractions, Seaworld and Oldtown are less than 10 minutes away. Zoo was 15 minutes.
Downside is there is nothing in walking distance, you need a car to get to restaurants etc. Also the walls seem a bit thin, we could hear our neighbors TV, but it was bearable. Get ear plugs if you are very sensitive to noise. All in all, I would highly recommend it, great value for the price we got. I would stay there again.

Comfort Inn Comfortable

from A TripAdvisor Member
I stayed at the The Comfort Inn Hotel Circle in the middle of April 2005 and it was great. The deluxe continental breakfast is always the same, but it is free and very nice when you wake up hungry at 7am!
There are exterior entrances to rooms and you may hear people outside your room at night running from room to room on the second level. It isn't exactly luxurious, but, it is a very comfortable hotel -- the room was clean and newly renovated. There are on site washing machines available. The staff was friendly, too. We went swimming one morning and the pool and hot tub were very nice too. The location is convenient to major highways and surrounding towns. I would recommend it!

comfort suites confusion

from DRD
There are four Comfort Inn and Suites complexes and one Comfort Suites complex in the one mile stretch along highway 8 between the I-5 and I-163. Be sure to figure out which one you're in!

I was in the Comfort Suites. I kept getting pizza ads slipped under the door of my hotel. I didn't like the fact these outside solicitors were wandering freely around the hallways unsupervised.

Top Local Tips for San Diego

Kono's for Breakfast For a fun breakfast, try Kono's Surf Club at Garnet Ave & Mission Bay Blvd in Pacific Beach across from Crystal Pier. Great food , good prices and right next to the beach.

Make sure you have the correct location! There is a comfort inn on hotel circle north and another on hotel circle south. They are very close to each other, and could be confusing. Make sure you have the correct location by checking the address.

Balboa Park Balboa Park is a museum lover's dream. The park itself is a jewel in the middle of the city.
