Top Local Tips for San Diego

some good food in Pacific Beach If you're staying in PB, there's about a million choices of restaurants...only some of which are good. My recommendations: Amore Pizza, Kafe Yen, Zanzibar, Gringo's Cantina, Don Bravo's, Chateau Orleans, and JRDN...all very very good choices!

The Saving grace of staying in Pacific Beach (SD) The fish and lobster tacos from World Famous were awesome! This restuarant was only blocks away from our hotel. Also if you are looking for a little healthy dessert check out Bogart's yogurt on Grand and Bayard, yummy!

Ask to see the room before you check-in! My sister-in-law always asks to see the rooms before she checks in...so this tip is really from her! What a great idea! As we previewed the first hotel, it was aweful. We didn't check in. We walked around neighboring hotels to find another room. The next hotel was cheaper and smelled like mold. We didn't check in there either. The next hotel was a cute renovated room near the beach. Just what we wanted and at the same rate as the first aweful room. Staying in another city in San Diego, we checked out the room and noticed a view of the alley! We requested another room and the desk person tried to book us another room with the same alley view. We requested another room on the other side of the hotel and we got a room on the 3rd floor (the desk person said it was a view of a building) well, to our surprise...just above the building was the firework show from SeaWorld...every night. So, ask to see the room before you check-in and don't be afraid to ask for another room!
