Top Local Tips for Sacramento

At the crossroads The North/South, and East/West Amtrak all come to this station. So the hotel provided a great location. We could walk to both station, as well as downtown. Great if you are going to Sierras....Take the Amtrak Reno Train....right thru the mountains. We stayed in Reno and returned.

Olde Town Sacramento This was a great place to walk around and brouse. They have preserved 4 or 5 blocks of the older section of Sacramento. There are hundreds of shops and restaurants. On the weekend the California State Railroad Museam runs a train three miles up the Sacramento River and back. You can easily spend several days here. The statue where the first pony express rider started is here in Olde Towne.

While you are in Sacramento... You should make time to explore Old Sacramento and the Crocker Art Gallery.
