I have stayed at the Hilltop on many occasions and found it to be as advertised. Quality staff, helpful front desk, clean and well supplied rooms, and excellent Restaurant operation for free breakfast as well as exceptional food for lunch and dinner at CR Gibbs. Would and do stay there over the competition i.e. Holiday Inn, Oxford suites. Actually, as a business traveler I prefer the exterior corridors as it allows me close access to my room and auto. I would recommend this midrange property to anyone that is value minded.

Top Local Tips for Redding

Dinner - Cafe at Turtle Bay Exploration Park From the last weekend in April through September, dinner is served on the terrace on Friday & Saturday nights. There is live music every night. We really enjoyed our dinner - the food was good (but a little expensive) & the music was great as was the view of the bridge. It was entertaining watching all the people walk across the beautiful bridge. The weather was warm the night we ate there - I don't think I would have enjoyed it as much if it had been really hot. If visiting Lassen If coming in from the north enterance, stop and take the hike around Manzanita Lake right at the entrance. It is beautiful and a very easy hike (aprox 2 miles). Also, if you are up for it, don't miss the hike into Bumpass Hell, towards the south end of the park. It is about 3 miles but much higher in elevation and with a incline to hike up to the lip and then down into the bowl and back out. But it is way worth it! The views along the way are amazing and the geothermal activity is beautiful and interesting!

Visit the Mall It's also less than two miles from this hotel, down Hilltop and to the right. It's spread out & outdoors, but there's a Borders, Target, Mervyns, lots of food places, and more. If you forget anything, or just want to go shopping, it's great to be this close...
