Not a good hotel!

Do not eat at this hotel. Our family Christmas Dinner was off to a bad start when the waiter wiped his running nose on the sleeve of his striped shirt (somebody said he was completing community service hours. The well done prime rib ordered was uncooked and Michael balked at cooking it- eventually it was done but then he hid and we needed 2 hours to get various waiters and supervisors to serve drinks, dessert, check etc. The children had to leave without finishing; a supervisor apologized for the "disaster" and waived our bill ($190)
but if the hotel is run like the restaurant, watch out. And
at least get the waiter a handkerchief. Or a napkin.

Top Local Tips for Palo Alto

Polenisian and California Sushi at It's Finest! Across the street is Trader Vics, excellent Polenisian Fusion. About a block or two away right on Camino Real is Fuki Sushi. Be prepared for some excellent Japanese cuisine and excellent service. You can't leave California without trying some real asian food... and there are a lot of great places right on El Camino Real.

Better get a Rental Palo Alto in July seemed dead, amazing considering Stanford University is there. Everything exists in San Francisco so make sure you get a rental car and head North on the 101 or 280 as soon as you can. You can also take the more scienec El Camno Real (82). On the way back we never encounted any traffic except for minor construction stuff but ti's getting closer by the minute.

There's more great food just outside Palo Alto Take a 15 minute drive down Alma St heading south into Mountain View, make a right turn onto Castro street. Cross the railroad tracks and drive up Castro. There are many tasty places to choose from. In the summer, many restaurants have sidewalk patios open for dining outside.
