When traveling through Palmdale, it is often difficult to find a room due to large aerospace corporations and Edwards Airforce base in the area. As a result, the room prices seem way out of whack....it is unusual to find rates below $150/night for a decent hotel room. We travel from San Diego to Mammoth Lakes CA and often use Palmdale as a mid-way stop. The Marriot Courtyard is in a great location with shopping and fast food areas in the immediate vicinity (which are nice to have access to when traveling). There is a Wal-Mart in the next parking lot and many 24-hour fast food restaurants. We were also delighted by the nearby drive-thru Starbucks coffee. Parking is at a premium and it can be frustrating to find a spot on a busy night. Daytimes can be brutally hot in the summertime but the pool area is nice and open until quite late in the evening. We had a late arrival and were still able to fit in a swim before bed. The staff is fabulous and courteous. They were especially friendly and patient with my tired 5-yr old. The rooms were comfortable without being anything special - just adequete. My only complaint is that I wouldn't consider it a great value for the money spent. I've stayed in a luxury hotel in NY for the same price as the Marriott in Palmdale. It's called supply and demand but also allows the hotels to charge excessive prices for adequete accommodations.
