Excellent value for the money!

I booked a three night get away (Thurs - Sat) in September and enjoyed our stay. I booked a King Suite with a water view. The staff was pleasant and helpful. There was on-site security and the free parking was in well lit areas. We were 5 minutes from Jack London Square with fun & dining of all types and price ranges. If you like Jazz music and asian food you must check out Yoshi's at Jack London Sq.. Overall we were pleased with the room which was very clean and roomy; the staff was up to our expectations and the price was fair. We plan on returning soon.

Loved it -- Waterfront view Quiet

I was attending a wedding in the Oakland/San Francisco area and My sister, cousin and myself stayed at the Executive Inn. It was wonderful the from the beautiful sunsets over the water in the evening to the cool dew filled mornings on the deck with a warm cup of coffee. The customer service was excellent; I had gotten lost in my rental car coming from the airport (using mapquest) and I was in what appeared to be a tuff part of town. I called the front desk in a panic and they calmed me and guided me all the way too the hotel. The rooms were wonderful and the maid service and front desk service were great; the staff was cheerful and willing to help. I wanted to get out to San Francisco without having to drive; I asked the front desk for information about Bart and the ferry service, which was provided with the suggestion that I use the courtesy van which drove me to the ferry and picked me up on my return. The staff goes beyond the call of duty. I arrived back at the hotel on late Saturday night after the wedding and could not find a parking spot. One of the Courtesy van drivers moved his personal car so I could park. Now that good customer service!!!

Recently stayed here on a business trip and added an extra day. Peaceful setting on the water and beautiful junior suites. The van took me to Jack London Square where there are many nice restaurants and also to the San Francisco Ferry.
Great Place. I'll be back with my family the next time.

Excellent Hotel on the Embarcadero

from A TripAdvisor Member
My daughter and I just came back from a trip to Oakland/San Francisco, and we stayed at the Executive Inn and Suites. I had read mixed reviews about the hotel (e.g. shuttle service, noise, etc.) but I had a pleasant experience during our stay. When we arrived in Oakland, I called the hotel for the shuttle to pick us up, and it was there in less than 5 minutes. Our room wasn't ready when we checked-in, so we got upgraded to a waterview suite. The rooms were spacious and beautiful, and I highly recommend getting the water-view rooms for the scenery and serenity. The pool was warm and clean, and there was complimentary breakfast for the guests. As for the shuttle service, all guests are required to make appointments if we want to get dropped off at a certain location, and we just call to get picked-up. I made appointments to go to Downtown, Jack London Square, and Children's Fairyland, and the shuttle was never late. And when we needed to get picked-up, I don't think we had to wait more than 10 minutes. The hotel staff was very accomodating to our needs, and we had a wonderful time during our stay. I would definitely book a room at Executive Inns again for our next visit to Oakland.

Hated this Hotel

After a brief swim in the pool and hot tub, our new suits were ruined--completely bleached out. The worst part of it was, the staff never apologized or accepted responsibilty, but acted like somehow the fault was ours. When we made our reservations, we asked about shuttle service, but were never told that if it was reserved by the allotted number, we would have to wait an hour. We were also never told that the shuttle service stops at 10:00 p.m. so if you have a late arrival you are out of luck. We had one of the suites, which was nice, but the freeway noise is horrible. The staff was pleasant, but when asked specific questions, they did not know much about anything.

Pretty Good

We stayed at this hotel over the Memorial Day Weekend. The manager bumped us up to a water view room once I emailed him of my concerns of a freeway room after reading a review on Trip Advisors. The room we stayed in was not very big. The view of the water was wonderful though. The only complaint; there was a broken vending machine sitting in the hallway of the floor we were staying on. It was an unisightly and ugly and who wants to see that everytime they go to their room. The continental breakfeast was decent. Very close to Jack London Square and close to the freeway to get to SF. No complaints of the service, but that vending machine should have long been moved. Would stay there again, hoped they have moved that broken vending machine.

Great bang for your buck

Quite nice. Friendly staff, cozy lobby and lounge area. Fireplace going during their happy hour. Rooms are average, but nice balcony views on the water. Just down the street from Jack London Square, a GREAT place for food and fun!

Wonderful staff--beautiful waterside rooms

from A TripAdvisor Member
I have nothing but high praise for this hotel--the staff were incredibly accomodating, the shuttle drove us and picked us up from several locations without delays. We were even offered sandwiches to take on our late night flight back east! The waterfront rooms are worth any additional fee; the front of the hotel faces busy a interstate while the back is quiet, facing a tidal inlet and landscaped promenade and marina. Distant view of Oakland bridge lit at night.

Great stay on a business trip

I had a very nice stay at Executive Inn in Aug. '03. Large rooms, well appointed, well maintained (I stayed in the newer wing). It's close to Jack London square, which has a several nice restaurants to choose from. The hotel is a bit confusing to get to, however, although it's right off the freeway.

Top Local Tips for Oakland

Try Quinn's Lighthouse. There is a great restuarant down the road called Quinn's Lighthouse. They have a great pub and the food is pretty good.

Rental car not necessary Bart train station is close by

Stay in Alameda or Emeryville If you are willing to travel a little miles, other cities have more to offer in the accomodation arena!
