Do yourself a favor and book reservations with the Marriott in downtown Monterey. The Marriott is within walking distance of dozens of shops and restaurants. This Hyatt is FAR from downtown, located on the other side of Highway 1. The front desk Registration staff was the WORST part of this hotel. If you call for directions, they don't know where the hotel is and transfer you around. Also, the Registration staff is very rude ineffective. I certainly will NOT stay at another Hyatt.

We arrived early in Monterey (check in is usually 4pm) check in host seemed IRRITATED that we asked if there was any availability since we were there at 2pm. Room was available. When we got to our room, there was NOTEABLE DUST ALL OVER THE ROOM (as if it had not been cleaned lately). They could not place the fridge in the normal location because the CABINET WAS BROKEN so the portable fridge had to be placed next to the bed instead. (Loud when it turned on) The view of the fairway was nice, however, because the WINDOW WAS SO DIRTY, we had to call and ask if they could clean it so we could see out and enjoy the nice view. We were not there when they came to clean the window. When we arrived back to our room, THE SLIDER HAD BEEN LEFT UNLOCKED BY WHOMEVER CLEANED THE WINDOW. Leaving all of our valuables available to ANYONE who could have found our room unlocked. The remote to the TV did not work very well which was irritating at night trying to change the channel. NO AIR CONDITIONING. The shower SOUNDED LIKE A JACKHAMMER was going off and when our neighbor took a shower at 10pm it sounded like a HELICOPTER WAS HOVERING OVER OUR ROOM...luckily we were still awake. THE TOILET BROKE on our last day...luckily we only had to use it a couple of times before we left, because it would not flush. WE CANNOT BELIEVE THIS PROPERTY HAS ANY TYPE OF HYATT AFFILITATION. SAVE YOUR MONEY and stay some place else. DILAPIDATED PROPERTY AND UNCARING STAFF.
