Very Nice Place to stay

from dmlee90
I just returned from a 4 night stay at the Residence Inn at Manhattan Beach, California. We stayed in an upstairs studio unit which included a queen bed and sofabed, a kitchen and a nice size bathroom. This hotel is located about 1 mile from the beach and just south of LAX. Also close to grocery stores and restaurants.

The staff is very pleasant, especially the dining room supervisor. This hotel provides a daily hot breakfast, which is very good. Also, Mon-Thurs, the hotel provides an early lite dinner, which includes wine. This is not a gourmet meal, but very nice to have after a long day of sight-seeing and just wanting to sit by the pool with a quick bite to eat.

The pool is small and only a max of 5ft deep at one end, but very enjoyable for children.

The only problem we had, was when the housekeeper did not replenish a couple of things that we were running low of or had run out of, i.e. shampoo and tissue. But all we had to do was ask the front desk, and they were able to provide us with what we needed. But overall, every thing was very good. We would definitely stay here again.

Loved it ,was perfect

This was more than we expected. This place was convenient, very clean and the people were very personable and helpful the whole time we were there. The free breakfast was excellent and was more than we expected. I would definitely stay there again and would recommend it
to everyone . It is perfect for family or business trips. Also there is a Comedy and magic club in Manhatten Beach that I would highly recommend .

Loved the Penthouse Suite!

from A TripAdvisor Member
We stayed in one of the Penthouse Suites which had a loft bedroom and a bathroom upstairs and a bedroom and bathroom downstairs. Plus we had a living area, and full eat in kitchen. Three TV's was a plus too with a 12 year old who didn't want to watch what we watched. The hot breakfasts had a lot of variety and were a real nice touch. The kicker though is they will do your grocery shopping for you and bring the groceries to your suite at no addtional charge!!! How cool is that? The staff was extremely freinldy, helpful and made you feel welcome. We will definately stay here each time we visit Manhattan Beach or even Venice Beach.

Wonderful experience!

We arrived exhausted after a "red-eye" flight. The staff was incredibly kind and helpful. The attendant came up to the suite to make up the sofa bed for our son, helped us carry our luggage, even brought us a snack. Very accomodating with extra pillows, etc. The suite was very clean, decor was lovely, bed was extremely comfortable. The morning breakfast was substantial and delicious. The only negative was having to take a taxi from the airport. I wish a shuttle were provided. I would definitely stay here again!

s a Residence Inn

You can't compare a 2 1/2 star Residence Inn to 4 star properties. The rooms look exactly like the reviewer's pictures - they will get the job done but it's nothing fancy, and the bed is mediocre at best. If you're looking for bang for the buck, this is the place to stay! A secret - this property frequently appears in the 2 1/2 star section of priceline and can be had for less than $40 a night (YES, $40, not $140). This location is clearly trying to fill rooms at any cost, as it is independently managed, like most of the chain. Convenient location to shopping and restaurants a few blocks away. I stay here as often as possible - take the money saved and have a nice dinner!

Getting old, even with a renovation

from Snappyinchi
Residence Inn concept is great. However rooms here have outdated kitchens and bathrooms--apparently this was not addressed during recent renovation which must have been a "soft" renovation. Dark wood trim in rooms is not very appealing either.

Mattresses are also in need of upgrading--bedspread is not heavy enough to guarantee a sound sleep (assuming you like heavy bedspreads/comforters). Units are also severely lacking in soundproofing--you can hear traffic noise in parking lot. TIP: If you are not in a second level unit you will be sorry!

Free internet access is painfully slow.

Breakfast service is nice. However, dining area could be kept cleaner. Silverware at the buffet is not replaced promptly--sometimes leaving one without a fork.

Good Location, Good Value

Stayed here three nights in September. Located two blocks from Manhattan Beach Blvd. which leads to downtown Manhattan Beach and the ocean (one mile away). GREAT free hot breakfast buffet and very helpful front desk staff. Studio unit was large and very clean (maids were excellent each day). However, I had to get use to the foam rubber mattress on the boxspring. If you like good support in your mattress, the mattress does not give much support as you sink deep down. I had a downstairs unit so I heard the people above me walking across the floor quite often. Next time I will get an upstairs unit so it will be more quiet. Room had a full kitchen, but the room, overall, appeared to be a little dated. Kitchen was very clean and fully stocked with dishes and utinsils. However, the $2 bottle of water (16 oz.) for sale on top of the fridge was a little chincy by the hotel. For the amount I paid for the room -- even on Priceline ($60/nt.), they should throw in a bottle of water for free each day (it would have been a nice perk). Bathroom was spotless and well stocked with the soap and shampoo. Parking out in front of the buildings were all "compact" spaces so it was a little difficult parking my mid-size rental car. Newspaper was at my doorstep each morning. If I return to Manhattan beach, I will probably check this place out again.

five star price/quality ratio

We stayed here for three nights, thurs, friday and saturday while visiting friends in Manhattan Beach. We paid $94 a night AAA rate.

This place is really great, it's a fairly large property that has clusters of townhouse-like structures. We actually checked out two different rooms in different buildings here and both of them were renovated and immaculate. They had pretty much the exact same layout, basically a fairly large room with a little living room area that had a couch and a chair with an ottoman and a fireplace. On the other end is a queen bed. There is a TV situated between the living room and bed with all kinds of services like tons of On-Demand movies. That was cool. A nice sized bathroom with a seperate sink and dressing area. It also has a nice full-sized kitchen with full fridge, stove, microwave, dishwasher, coffee maker and toaster. There is a desk area right by the kitchen with a free high-speed internet connection. They provide the cables you need to hookup your laptop. Basically the room had everything I like even in the highest end of places.

The location is very convenient, it's on Sepulveda, which is a busy, and very uncharming street, but the access is easy to everyplace. Everything you need is nearby, supermarkets, Target, tons of places to get a quick bite to eat, a zillion coffee shops and of course only minutes to Manhattan, Redondo, and Hermosa beaches. Residence Inn is also dog-friendly, which is one of the reasons we stay here as we travel almost everywhere with our dog.

The staff was pretty friendly. This is a chain, and anyone who expects A-level service from any chain in America is living in a serious fantasy. It always makes me laugh when I read these reviews and people get all offended when they stay at a Motel 6 and get outraged when they weren't treated like Lords and Millionaires. Expect reasonablly friendly service and understand that fairly underpaid workers at these chains are going to have some bad days. The housekeepers did a good job, cleaned up, got us clean towels and the front desk gave us extra pillows when we requested them. I was happy.

My wife and I travel frequently, mainly for pleasure and we always do extensive research before we stay somewhere. When we are just visiting friends we generally like to stay at places in the $100 range, for a romantic weekend we'll go to $250-$300, so we're not hardcore budget travellers. We actually almost let some of the negative reviews on this property disuade us from staying here. Either those people are used to staying at $700 a night rooms or it was before they renovated this property. Thankfully we decided to stay here, and will probably stay here whenever we are just dropping in the LA area.

Great stay, friendly staff

from kmbmea
This Residence Inn is convenient to LAX, comfortable in its appointments, and staffed by some very friendly people.

We spent one night here in March. The greeting from the front desk staff (I wish I got his name!) was the friendliest I've received at a hotel, period. Big thumbs up. We requested a unit that was as quiet as possible, and we received a top floor unit as far from the street as they could put us. Perfect. The apartment was clean, spacious, well-appointed, and comfortable. If there is room for improvement, it would be the bathroom, which was not as renovated as the rest of the unit, it seems.

There is a Ralph's supermarket just a few blocks north, so making a home-cooked meal is easy. (We had been on the road for several weeks, so it was nice to be able to make our own comfort food.)

The free breakfast buffet the next morning was excellent. Hot breakfast options (eggs, pancakes, etc.) as well as a make-your-own waffle bar. They could perhaps add a second waffle iron, as there was a line, but that's really getting picky.

Free internet access in the room. WebTV access if you don't bring your computer, for a fee.

Big thumbs up. Would happily stay here again.

Fantastic home from home

We stayed here on the first part of our vacation after the long flight from London (UK) - We had read the reviews on here from past postings I almost cancelled and went to the Mariott on Manhattan Beach, I am pleased to say my wife said no lets give it a try - Glad we did it was Fantastic - No noise from partys or any sniff that this would be tolerated. The staff were superb as was our two room suite, the decor was perfect three TV's, two bathrooms, great kitchen - what more could you ask for - The included breakfast was another real treat the variety and freshness of it all, what a great stay - We will be back and I recomend this Residence Inn to anyone considering a stay in the LA area. 10 out of 10.
