Nicely Refurbished

I have stayed here several times and find it an excellent value and really appreciate the free parking.Other hotels in the area with similar amenities are getting an extra 15 dollars for you to park your own car.Taxis to take you into downtown Manhattan Beach are readily available and under 10 dollars.The pool is nothing to write about so go to the beach your in Southern Ca.

Short but pleasant stay!

We decided to spend a night near LAX before heading up Highway 1, the hotel is lovely, in a nicer part of the city than the closer airport hotels. The tranquillity room I booked was very much that, with a comfortable bed and nice decor. Room was a large size, as was the bathroom.

The front desk staffs were friendly and helpful with advice on where to go and eat; the other great thing is the valet parking is free. The only downside is that due to its location, the restaurant and bar are very quiet with no atmosphere but Manhattan Beach is just a short drive away with a lovely beach, and great restaurants and bars. We would definitely stay here again.

My husband and I are very impressed with this hotel. The decor is as cool as it looks on the web site, and the bed was the most comfortable we have ever experienced in a hotel. We had only one meal in the restaurant, but it was very tasty. Located near the airport with no airport noise, this hotel is also within a short drive to the town of Manhattan Beach. We found the town charming and full of great coffee shops and cute boutiques. The ocean there is marvelous and worth spending time along. The staff was friendly and helpful and the valet parking was a definite plus. We were busy driving around LA, so we didn't mind that the patio and pool area were often closed for events and weddings. It was a treat to stay here and will recommend it to our friends without reservation.

Cool vibe with moderate price

My wife and I stayed at the Belamar for 3 nights over Presidents Day weekend for a wedding and we were very happy with our stay. We chose the Belamar due to the great reviews, its proximity to both LAX and the beach, and the cool vibe we got from the pictures at a reasonable
price. We were not disapointed. The hotel has a nice pool and outdoor
lounge area in the middle of the hotel and we found the staff friendly, proffessional and courteous. They did not charge a valet fee as some prior reviews commented on-maybe they changed their policy. Depending on when you get into the lot, it might be full and you might be required to valet it. Just to make sure everyone is aware: The Belamar is not walking distance to the beach. In fact, it is not walking distance to anything. It is about a 5-10 minute drive to Manhattan Beach and you will need a car to get around. Also, the hotel bar and restaurant is pretty dead and caters to hotel patrons and usually closes by 11pm. The website kind of gave the impression that is was a "happening bar". Aside from those minor things, we enjoyed our stay and would recommend to anyone who needs to stay in the area.

Fabulous surprise when we were housed here after a cancelled flight

American Airlines put us up in the Belamar after a cancelled connection flight left us stranded in LA enroute from Tokyo to Dallas. We were exhausted, not-well-treated by AA, and my 13 year old was getting sick. Imagine the pleasant surprise when the shuttle arrived, after a very short drive, at the Belamar! This is a very attractive, CA-chic hotel with some of the most comfortable beds I've come across in any hotel. The staff is exceedingly friendly, and manager Andy made us feel extra-welcome despite our somewhat bedraggled and luggage-less state. Our room was lovely in shades of soothing blue and taupe. Toiletries and hair-dryer are supplied, but no coffee. The onsite restaurant was excellent. The pool area is stylish and looked inviting and festive for a private party going on that evening. The front desk attendant cheerfully brought our luggage to our room at midnight when it finally arrived. Check out was a snap, and they let me use the computer in the lobby to send a quick email. All in all, a delightful stay. I wish I'd known about the Belamar before.

LA Transit

We stayed at The Belamar whilst transiting through LA on the 16th March after 3 weeks in Brazil. Great location, they shuttled us from & back to LAX. We checked in early & out late (at no charge) because of our early arriving (10.00am & very late (11.30pm) leaving flights.
Great little shopping mall accross the road with movies & restaurants
is perfect. Small well equipped gym, nice undercover pool + outdoor area. Magnificent king size beds & free in room broadband. Zero road noise even though adjacent to busy road. Local walking track is next door & the area is very, very safe. Highly recommend The Belamar for Aussies on the way through.

Great alternative to LAX hotels

We have stayed at this hotel many times. It's very close to LAX (maybe 15 minutes), they even offer a shuttle, but you get to escape from the vibe of the LAX area and visit a great beach town. The hotel has many upgrades, great service and is very comfortable and quiet. It's a couple miles to the Manhattan Beach pier but excellent restaurants are there when you arrive. I highly recommend the hotel if you're looking for a place to stay in the area.

Loved the Belamar Hotel

We have just returned from a weekend at the Belamar hotel. The hotel is great and looks just like the pictures on their website(cute dog). It was so lovely and went spent the majority of our time in the room (Tranquility). It's in a good location with quick and easy access to Manhattan Beach and a small mall. It was also easy for us to jump on the 405 and head into LA or Santa Monica.

If you stay, you'll definitely want a tranquility room with a balcony. The restaurant and the staff was excellent. You get a lot of choices for breakfast (Belgian waffles, pancakes, fruit, pastries, etc..) The pool is lovely (the only downside is that other hotel visitors did not cleanup after their venture to the pool - Staff was slow to cleanup).

The Spa treatment was nice, but rather expensive ($180 for manicure/pedicure 1 person). Make sure you schedule before you arrive on site.

The valet drivers are the best. Polite and courteous. Always helpful and willing to give directions. They gave us directions to the Grove and we drove there with no problems.

We paid $145 per night for a Tranquility room which we thought was an good value. We had a King size bed which was soft and comfortable.

We really enjoyed our stay at this boutique hotel. Has a very charming appeal and romantic.

Great Weekend Getaway

My husband and I live only 15 minutes from the Belamar but needed a night away from the kids. Overall, the hotel was an excellent value. The front desk supplied warm chocolate chip cookies in the evening and our 2 room service meals were tasty and not overly expensive. The Bulgarian waitress who brought us our food was very friendly and went out of her way to set up dinner as if we were in a fine restaurant. The room was very clean and the bed was extra comfortable. My only complaint was that there was no hair dryer in the bathroom and I forgot my one from home.

As for location, it is right across the street from a small (but nice) mall and a movie theatre. There are many excellent restaurants nearby as well.

Enjoyed The Belamar

During August of 2006, I stayed at The Belamar Hotel in Manhattan Beach during a week and a half long jaunt in Southern California. What I liked most about this hotel was it's close proximity to the beach. The beach is within walking distance, and if I'm not mistaken, the hotel actually provides shuttle service. Also, the hotel is around the corner from charming restaurants, and cute shops and boutiques. Other pointers: Internet service provided; parking is valet only; hotel is very close to the 405 highway entrance. It's a nice place to stay if you revel in the safe, affluent, beach town atmosphere. However, if you want a happening, hip, in the middle of things feel, you might want to gravitate towards, let's say, the Hotel Roosevelt in Hollywood.

Top Local Tips for Manhattan Beach

Heading to Manhattan Beach - Carry Some Change.. We had a great weekend, but if you decide to head to the beach , do some shopping or eat at the restaurants in Manhattan Beach, make sure you carry some change. You have to pay for parking in this area and I mean everywhere. You're limited to 2 hours. It's a pain and most of the store owners are not willing to give you change unless you purchase something (Not Good!!!)

Strand You must walk the Strand which connects Manhattan beach with Hermosa Beach

coffee shops Pain Quotidien is the best, but there are many others. Take a break in the morning and have a leisurely breakfast, the walk the beach.
