The bathroom and toilet is very clean. Free wifi, close to free ride to Manhattan Beach, close to airport, free breakfast. I'll come back again.

I stayed there for 5 weeks & the next time I'm in Los Angeles I'll be staying there again. The service, staff & location were ok. The hotel was gated security, & there were always security guards on place. Thanx everybody there, I enjoyed myself.

Has it all for a very reasonable price

Room was very clean.Nice to also have a heated pool and exercise rom to workout in.The breakfast alone saved us at least 15 dollars. Nutricious and fresh. You really can't go wrong with this hotel.Free shuttle and close proximity to LAX also a plus. Very comfortable. Would stay here again.

My room was clean, quiet and convenient.The breakfast was great and the convenience to getting to the airport worked out real well. I would do it again anytime and would recommend it to my friends.

Problems with shuttle

After a 15 hour plane trip from Australia we did not need the shuttle problems we had.We rang the hotel to get the shuttle and were told it would be along shortly.After a wait of over an hour and 3 further phonecalls to the hotel (which we answered by rude staff saying it will be along shortly) we had to chase the shuttle half way down the road to get it to stop. We got no apology and the shuttle driver was pretty rude. Therefore we didnt give him a tip!! Check in was fairly simple and the room was very large and quite nice.The pool area was pretty nice and the overall hotel appearance was good. The Dennys restuarant just outside the lobby was great. It was very noisy with people coming and going and argueing all night. The shuttle ride to the car rental place was a bit nicer the next morning.Overall it was just ok and for the cheap rate we paid ($66) I suppose we cant complain but the whole shuttle incidence was not a good way to start an overseas trip.I probably wouldnt stay there again simply due to the shuttle but the actual hotel rooms were fine.I thought the breakfast was pretty good although there wasnt anywhere to sit so we took it back to our room.

not acceptable compromise

my wife has a flight from lax to philadelphia very early, so we decided to have an accomodation very close to the airport.

yes the travellodge is very close to the airport (about 2 miles), which should be the guarantee, that independent from traffic it is possible to be in time at the airport.

what is good/acception:
+ location (very close to the airport)
+ acceptable rates (about 66 $ using travellodge direct)
+ our room looks good


what is not good / inacceptable:
- the geometric orientation of the different houses and rooms leads
to complete confusion and is not suitable if you have to carry your luggage by yourself (as usual)
- very loud / noisy (two streets and the airport are very close)
- the rooms also seems to be very close together, so you hear everything and everyone (arriving late in the night etc. etc.)
- the announced wifi-acces is restricted to the lobby and the pool area (and this means that is not possible to get internet acces with low room rates and in a convienent way: only three chairs are in the lobby)
- the offered breakfast is a joke (i got it, after my wife leaves to the airport):
an older person demands a lane of people and coordinates toasts and bisquites (but only one); not enough chairs / seat possibilities for the people, so the people are sitting outside and partially at the chairs of the pool area (fortunately it was not raining).
- the personal was unfriendly (i ask for electrical power for my labtop during surfing and got the answer, that there is no electrical power and power is not necessary for surfing (the answer is wrong (a) there are power conncetions beside the chairs (but can not be used with bright european adapters) and b) of course ...)

for my next trip to us in combination with early (part-)departures from us, i will avoild lax (in general) and travellodge especially.

Rude Staff

I agree with the rude staff review and the ant infestation problem. Not one pleasant staff member and the continental breakfast has apparently been scaled back since others stayed there. I, too, would spent an extra couple of bucks for a better place.

Terrible Service

If you want a decent service, don't expect from this place. Pay a little more and stay somewhere else that you feel safe and get a better service. The lobby is so close to the street that we didn't feel safe for our family with children.

We didn't have much luggage so we didn't tip the courtesy shuttle driver. Next morning when we used the courtesy shuttle bus to LAX to pick up my siblings, the shuttle driver was so rude to us (yelled at us and accused us of free rides and reported us to the hotel manager that we were in certain room #) that we didn't feel safe at all. He treated us so awful that we decided to go straight from LAX to the rental car place so that my siblings don't have to deal with the rude shuttle dirver.

The breakfast was very stressful here because they tend to put a staff who doesn't speak English or act like the staff doesn't understand English. The staff yells, "No more (meaning out of food) or ticket, ticket!" If you don't have a breakfast ticket, forget about getting your breakfast. Apparently, transients on the street try to come eat free breakfast.

The price is cheaper than other hotels around and it has an interesting garden and a nice pool, but the terrible service made us feel very uncomfortable staying here.

Great value at Travelodge at Lax

We stayed at the Travelodge on March 5th after a cruise. The room was very quiet as we had requested a room at the back, away from the street. The room was clean and had coffee machine. The gardens were lovely and the free breakfast was great. We had fruit, hard boiled eggs, cereal, bagels and cheese or english muffins and pasteries, coffee and 2 kinds of juice to choose from. The shuttle runs every half hour to the airport. We will stay here again if we have a pre cruise or post cruise night. VIP tours picked us up from the hotel for a city tour.

Great day use rate

I used this hotel for their day use facilities in January this year and was very pleasantly surprised, courtesy transfers went well, staff efficient and the room was very spacious and comfortable. It was a little noisy due to traffic and aircraft noise but nothing you can not handle. It was very handy having Dennys on site. The laundry facilities were good as well after a long flight. I would use this property again.

ant infestation

Everytime I was in the lobby of this hotel the staff seemed to be in a yelling match with some of the other hotel guests from check-in to check-out. I was kept waiting in the middle of my check-in process so that the woman at the front desk could argue with another guest. Finally when we could find a place to park (limited first come first serve parking) we had to try and master a maze of different buildings to try and find our room. Once we found it, we also found that there were ants everywhere including on the bed. We called to have the problem solved and a janitor showed up at our room with a bug spray can! Was he just going to spray down the bed? and we couldn't even really find the source of the ants. After disagreeing to this solution we were promptly moved to another room where thankfully there wasn't any ants. breakfast was just some toast and bagels and we checked out the next morning thankful that we only had to spend one night. I overheard another guest as well complaining of a major ant problem in his room as i was checking out. i suggest if you can spend $20-$30 more go somewhere nicer. Oh yeah and for those who have a lot of luggage note that there are no elevators at this property so you might think about a lower level room.

Great Value

Traffic at the airport is sometimes bad, but the Travelodge is a great value for an overnight stay on the way into or out of town. It's not fancy, but the gardens are beautiful and the hotel shuttle runs in and out of the airport regularly. For the price, its a good deal and worth it to be in the airport area for ease of airport access.

Was what we expected

Given it's location, it was pretty much what we expected.

- A convenient place to stay overnight and easy access back to the highway.
- Near traffic (but the air conditioner/fan by the door blocked out the sound). Good that it had a wall between the door and bed area (or else the air conditioner/fan would have kept us up.)
- Clean room, gated facility, and had laundry facilities.
- The continental breakfast was limited (again, what was expected). Unfortunately the lady behind the counter who was making toast and handing out the bread products was rather grumpy.

Dodgy or what?!

Where do I start?! Maybe we're not used to tipping but the look we got from the shuttle bus driver (that drove us less than a mile and was included in the charge) when we gave him a small tip was caustic! Then when we got there - FREAKSHOW! There were hookers in the lobby with short pvc shorts and also lots of general weird people! Our room stank of smoke although it was meant to be non-smoking and was a bit on the dirty side! Since we were staying only 1 night, we decided to get the bus to Santa Monica Pier. The bus stop was next door to the hotel but they forgot to mention it was next to the biggest XXX strip club ever! The bus took an hour to come and in that time we were confronted by several weirdos and felt really frightened! Next up - breakfast! What an absolute joke! Its a tiny wee room with a toaster and cartons of juice (if there are any left) and there were only 2 outside tables to sit at and none inside! We left the hotel with relief and are still recovering!

Driving Around LA The best tip given to us about dribing around LA is to use the freeways to get everywhere, and they where right.

Getting to downtown If you want to get to Hollyowood, Downtown or Univrsal Studios without paying a fortune use the Airport bus to Uniin Station and then get the metro.

Santee Alley Get during daylight hours only to the fashion district of downtown LA to 9th and Santee. Look for the alley of shopping, its a shoppers paradise... Everything you could want clothing wise, and some other misc stuff is there, and at really good prices... My wife and daughter are shoppaholics, and they got their fill at Santee Alley... 1 warning, watch your money as pickpockets lurk in the alley as well, also the area gets rather dangerous after dark....
