Comfortable Room for an extended stay

We were playing tourist in our own neighborhood, so to speak. Although we had lived in the greater Los Angeles area for a number of years, we have relocated to a quieter Riverside County location. Each year we have travelled either abroad and throughout the United States. This year we made a list of Los Angeles attractions that we had never or recently seen. We wanted a centrally located hotel from which we could walk or take public transportation. We selected the Ritz Milner for its reasonable price, parking, and proximity to downtown attractions. We requested and received a king sized suite which we found to be very comfortable. The room was quite large with a king sized bed, couch (convertible to a bed) with a cocktail table, adequate lighting, game table with two upholstered chairs. The bath had a pullman sink with plenty of room to spread out cosmetic items, a very large mirror, good lighting,a hair dryer, a tub shower combo and commode. There was an additional pullman with sink and full sized mirror within the room as well. This was our base of operations for the week. We were well treated, the room was cleaned daily, sheets were changed at least once, possibly more, lots of towels and even washcloths and bathmats. Our daily rate of under $90.00 (AAA Rate) also inclded a full breakfast at IHop across the street. The desk staff was, however, not very helpful. There was no one to assist with luggage, and on the one day when we returned to an untouched room and unmade bed, there was not much interest in correcting the problem. It was only with much insistence that someone addressed the issue. It would have been beneficial if the staff had worn name tage. Still, for the money and location, we truly enjoyed our stay and would certainly stay there again if we were in the Los Angeles ares.

Great budget hotel, shame about the staff

My partner and I stayed at the Ritz Milner for a week during E3. The hotel itself was fine. The room was very small and the shower room (no bath) was really tiny but we didn't spend much time there, just slept there. There was no clear indication of how we should access the internet. There was an ethernet cable in our room but there was a note saying that it needed a credit card (although we had read on Expedia that there was free wireless). On the reception desk it said that there was a charge of $9.95 a day for the net, however we plugged the cable in and it connected without a signup screen or asking for our credit card details. We haven't been charged yet (but who knows, that was the least of our worries). It is in a great location, for downtown LA with bus stops outside and Metro station just up the road. The main problem we had with this hotel was one member of staff. He unfortunately checked us in and out. Although he didn't actually do either of them. When we arrived he barely uttered a word to us and those that he did were rude. We had just travelled for nearly 20 hours and this was the last thing that we wanted. He gave us the key, but it had turned out 2 days later that they thought that we were a no show as he hadn't added us to the computer system. Most days that we were there the key card didn't work and they had to reset it. On the Thursday (we were leaving on the Saturday) we went to get our breakfast voucher and the guy (different guy) on reception said that we had been checked out and luckily there was another person on the desk who got our paperwork out. The one good thing about this hotel was that breakfast was included in the IHOP opposite and it was a big breakfast, 2 eggs, 2 rashers of bacon, or 2 sausages, one massive hash brown and 2 pancakes. Drinks aren't included. The staff at the Ihop were nicer than the hotel staff! The first night we were there I woke up to someone else going into the room opposite where someone else was obviously staying in. It seems that the same rude guy had given someone else the key for an occupied room. I probably would stay there again as the hotel itself was clean, but we slept with the lock on, and I would again.

While my room was small, it had all the amenities needed to make my stay comfortable. Hair dryer, coffee makers, internet, alarm clock radio and cable TV with Showtime. A full American breakfast is included at IHOP. Great location near Staples, Convention Center, Metro station and great restaurants. Why pay double or triple?
