*bathroom had no ventilation fan. *they don't change sheets but rather straighten them up when making the beds. *no free continental breakfast. *pool was far away from hotel as opposed to being inside
*parking was outrageously priced
*bathtub had added tiles covering up where mold had build up and not taken care of properly. *only one courtesy paper in 5 days is poor service when it say that you'd get one daily. *trashy ciggarette butts all over the landscaping. *windows were filthy dirty and looked like they hadn't ever been cleaned
*elevators broke down often and stranded several guests. *no sleep number bed in room 525 even though they say all rooms have them

Great Hotel

After traveling for over 24 hours, this hotel was a wonderful respite. Check-in took less than 2 minutes; extremely well organized and efficient. The room was as expected; quiet with no airport noise, clean and well maintained. Easy access from hotel to the airport and vice-versa. The only downfall about this hotel was kids running amuck, although, management, I'm sure, had no control over enlarged families and their children. Brunch was standard; not quite worth the price. Whenever we are traveling from Europe to Hawaii, we will stay there again. Well worth the money.

Bed Bugs Which Resulted in a Trip to a Doctor!

I normally take bad reviews with a grain of salt and if I have a not so good stay I dont take it to heart and complain all over the place. There could be many reasons for a bad stay and might now have anything to do with the hotel, just bad luck.

However when it comes to damaging my health, I feel the need to complain...
although the guy driving the shuttle was Excellent, he was a diamond in the rough during our one night stay at the Radisson at LAX. What went wrong? Well, we were put on a stinky room on the smoking floor when we specifically ordered a non-smoking...this was imparitive since my mother suffers from smoke allergies but when we informed the front desk they shrugged and wouldnt move us despite the fact that we were confirmed for a non-smoking at check-in a few minutes earlier!

I felt uneasy going to bed with all the racket down the hall and the many strange hairs on my pillow and bed. Then a little bug ran straight over sheets... me and my mother hardly slept all night and i woke up often, itchy and irritable...then the next morning , we found out why:

Both of our bodies were covered head to toe in Big Red and Itching Bites, everywhere. Disusted we complained and showed the front desk but they just shrugged and when we asked to see the manager they told us he was "unavailable". We couldnt do much else for we had to catch a plane to New Zealand. That was the most uncomfortable flight I have ever had, itching all the way. As soon as we hit New Zealand we went to a clinic where the doctor confirmed it was bug bites.

We took pictures of the welts and the doctors note and faxed it to the hotel demanding they take responsibilty but all they said was "We will check into the matter". They never did. After repeated attempts of contacting them we gave up. Never will I stay there again and become a victim of hair, dirt and bug riddled sheets and smoke filled curtains.

It's bad enough when a horrible hotel ruins your stay but even worse when one night can ruin your whole week and result in going to the doctor!!!!
You have been warned!

Very Nice Place

Was at the hotel June 18-21st and loved it.
The room was very nice and clean. The staff was pleasant and helpful. We could see the planes from our window yet there was no real noise. Definitely would stay here again.

LAX Airport Stopover

We stayed overnight at this hotel Friday June 18th, 2004. Upon arrival at airport called the hotel for pick-up and directed to location just outside baggage claim. Quick 5 minute trip to hotel and speedy check-in. Gave us a room with king bed as requested on 7th floor overlooking the airport runways. Room was quite well insulated and minimal noise intrusion. We used the pool and hot tub that evening. Excellent water temp. The air was cool, but the hot tub was 'hot' and pool also quite warm and comfortable. Only drawback was the aviation fuel smell sometimes when the wind shifted. Total cost of our room was $79US taxes included. We did not try the restaurant but went down the block for a light snack at a Subway. Our car rental was with Thrifty that was just down the block, thus by passing the $11US parking fee at hotel. Overall, if we are in the area again in the future, we would consider staying at this hotel again.

After we checked in we were given a room that was occupied - with no apology, we were assigned another average room (the double bed are narrow). The heated pool was OK, but no pool towels were available and a request to get some more to housekeeping and the bellman was ignored. The room was slightly stale smellling - even though it was non-smoking. The service was below average. There are very little dining options within walking distance from the hotel. We were given a complimentary late checkout after I complained about the checkin problem, but then they wanted to charge $59 for it as we were checking out!!

Never again: we were looking for a Hotel close to the airport - and the Radisson is really close. The first drawback was, that you have to find the parking lots in the back of the hotel (extra charge, even for check-in!). OK we wanted to park there anyway for the night (10 $ extra) and then drive up to the terminal with our car in the morning- we nearly didn't made it! The problem: In the morning the parking deck is used by the hotel for valet parking - each lot is sold at least 3 times and to get our car back out there took about 30 minutes - when I complained, they slowed down there speed even. No excuse nor that anybody warns you about that. We nearly missed our plane due to that.
Secondly we booked a room with two double beds - what we got were two beds - but queen or double is a different story. These beds are single beds from the size. The worse Radisson I had ever been in to world wide - and typically Radisson is my first choise!

A noisy dump

Radisson LAX is a tired hotel. Noisy, lousy neighborhood and musty rooms. Even the pool is unfit.

Location, location, location

Stayed here the night of April 18, 2004 on a layover from London to San Francisco. I booked it purely because it was right next to the airport and had a 6:30 flight the next morning. The shuttle came almost instantly to our terminal (it was also very prompt the next morning when we went back).

The lobby was very modern looking, but also very loud because of several events going on, including a teen beauty pageant. Check-in was a breeze, but I noticed later in the evening that there was a huge line, and people did not look like happy campers.

The room was nothing special, but certainly adequate for the price. The views of Century Boulevard and the planes taking off were undeniably neat.

The only minus (and it's a big minus) was the restaurant. The menu prices might have suggested that this this was going to be a good place. However, Outback Steakhouse or Chili's would have been a lot better (and cheaper). The staff were spread *very* thin (to their credit, it was jam-packed, so perhaps the crowd was unexpected), and there was a ridiculous wait until our order was taken, and again until our starters came, and again until our main course came. It was actually so slow that we laughed about it. The starters were OK, but none of us (the two of us, and an LA family member joining us for dinner) found our main courses (burger, chicken, and salmon) acceptable. Most ridiculous of all was the $7 side order of asparagus (more than you might pay for vegetables at a real top-notch restaurant). The pieces of asparagus were so unattractively big that they looked genetically modified, and they were also cold and undercooked. Yuck. The hostess and the waiter had been so friendly (if not very efficient) that we still left a big tip... they really did seem stretched to capacity.

Overall, would stay their again if on a tight schedule and needed the airport convenience, but would otherwise go further inland. And I wouldn't go to the restaurant ever again.

Nothing special

I tried to get a good rate at a couple of nearby hotels that I knew were nice, but the company I work for is always looking for something cheaper. I was able to get a rate of $99. I had read some of the positive reviews here so I felt good about choosing the Radisson.

Walking into the lobby I thought I had chosen a very nice place. It was clean and the staff was terrific. It wasn't until I got into my room that I was disappointed. It wasn't that it was a BAD room, I've stayed in worse, but it was nothing special.

In my opinion my room was in need of updating. Some of the wallpaper was peeling. The room smelled musty. When turning on the hot water in the sink I was greeted with an unpleasant smell of rotten eggs, sulpher like. (I mentioned this to a friend and he said that is a sign the water heater is going out. I have no idea if that is true.)

I did think the bed was comfortable. Maybe that was because of very long days and I was able to fall asleep immediately. The shower was ok. It didn't provide the powerful stream of water I was hoping for, but it stayed hot so that's always a plus.

Again, I will say that the staff was very nice and courteous. Everyone including the valet, bellmen, front desk and airport shuttle treated me well.

To sum it all up, if I have to go back to LA anytime soon I'll try to stay somewhere else if I can find a good deal. If I had to stay there again I wouldn't suffer, but I would prefer not to.

Top Local Tips for Los Angeles

When in Los Angeles go to Fogo De Chao!!! It is an awesome Brazillian Resturaunt in Beverly Hills. About $45.00 a person but well worth it!! Casual dress also.

Don't forget the beach Search out the beachfront restaurants in the less touristy areas - well worth the extra drive or cab fare

Must stop for coffee Best coffee you've ever had: Intelligentsia Coffee in Silver Lake.
