Historical Traveller Reviews of Hilton Los Angeles Airport Hotel

The Hilton is terrible!

from A TripAdvisor Member
The rooms are dirty and worn. Even the bedding is substandard. The self parking cost is outrageous at $13/day for guests. You can do better parking next door. Not all rooms have availability of Internet connections. Hookers are frequently seen hanging around the lobby. I have been getting this hotel on PL and have been staying there frequently over the past 2 1/2 years. It comes up as a *** hotel. I would rate it 2 star at best.

Horrible Experience

from A TripAdvisor Member
What a terrible hotel! Stayed here on 10/16 on the way to Hawaii and again on 10/23 on the way back to Chicago. Checking in the first time took us about 40 minutes. Checking in the second time took about 20 minutes. There were no lines both times. The front desk people were just slow and inefficient. On several occasions, I heard new guests being given rooms that were already occupied. We requested for a connecting room and were given a connecting room, but not a sleeping room but a conference room. We were later told that there weren't any connecting rooms left. After some time waiting, they found connecting rooms. The rooms in this hotel are old and some are filthy. We had to move to another room because the room was so dirty and the carpet full of stain. They moved us to a suite which was okay.... a little bigger and cleaner. We requsted for a rollaway bed and didn't get it until 3:20 A.M. (we checked in at 2:00 A.M.) Valet parking was terrible. It takes a long time to get your car. The lobby is nice but the rooms need updating and service is the worst. Even if it's only a short layover, I would not recommend this hotel.

just wonderful

stayed here october 14th 2004 for 3 nights. well just to say you will find this hard to beat. best bed i've ever slept in location great for sight seeing.
wonderful white fluffy towels and free parking.
do book prior to departure as walk in price was double that on the net.

Great for a quick stop!

from dhalton
Spent the night here on the way to the Hawaii and booked through PriceLine.

I'd read mixed reviews, but was satisfied. Room was clean and comfortable, though the furnishings could use some updating. Shuttle runs 24 hours, whichwas important to us.

Very nice lobby and great front desk service, though initially seeing a hooker walk out the front door as we were going in was a little unerving!

I wouldn't want to spend my entire vacation here, but it was certainly fine for a quick stop over.

Okay if cheap

Stayed here for 1 night on Sept 1 before heading to HI. As others have said, hotel is aging. TV was actually on a tv stand! (no armoire or anything) We were only there for about 6 hrs and the shuttle service to/from the airport was worth it. I wouldn't pay more than $120 for this place (we had a freebie) and wouldn't actually stay here as a vacation but for a quick layover, it was fine. We stayed at the Westin LAX airport about 2 yrs ago and it is much nicer, fyi.

I love this place

from cathdav
Whenever I fly into or out of LAX, and I do that about three times a year, I stay here. I love the desk clerks, the rooms, and the bar. Most recently I stayed here last week and only overnight and it was pleasurable, good value for the money, and I ate in the bar and the server gave me a choice of 3 menus at 10 pm at night. Regardless of the negative reviews, I will stay there everytime.

Got to agree with everyone else

I stayed for 1 night on 6/13/04 before leaving from LAX on a family vacation. When you walk in, you are impressed by the lovely lobby. I waited in the HHonors line which had no one in it. The attendant said he would be right back and 20 minutes later he appeared. I would have been better off by waiting in the regular line that had about 10 people in it. After waiting in line for a long time and being a HHonors member I thought a room upgrade or free breakfast would have been in order but the attendant refused. The room furnishing was a joke. Walmart has better quality furniture then this hotel. The bathroom is very small and did need updating as did the rooms. I guess since this is an airport hotel and most people only stay for one night no one really cares to improve it or offer good service. If you stay here for 1 night to catch a flight the following day and get a good rate I would say go ahead and book a room otherwise find a different hotel.

Cracks in the sinks

I have stayed here twice in the past year. The negative reviewers are very accurate. Hotel is beaten up and worn down - not like the average Hilton in terms of quality. This was more like a Holiday Inn. The vinyl sinks had cracks and mold on them. Terrible hotel.

My husband and I stayed here using a airline voucher because we took a "bump" on a flight at LAX. I think this is the most disappointing hotel stay I've ever had. Our room had obviously not been renovated in 20 years. The caulking in the tiny bathroom was filthy and sloppy from years of careless fixes. The sheets had pills, and the whole room smelled stale and needed to be redone. I would not pay any money to stay here.

Not what I expected from Hilton

from A TripAdvisor Member
We stayed at this hotel on April 2, 2004. I know they usually say you get what you paid for but this was the pits. I went through priceline and I got 2 rooms for $47+tax. When I arrived they told me I requested 2 rooms for 2 people each. They told me that each room had not a king, not a queen, but a FULL SIZE Bed!!! Which was for 2 adult size grown people. I have dealt with priceline many times but I have never had this happen to me. The hotels excuse was that priceline customers get these types of rooms. The room was small, the bathroom was small and the workers were not accomadating eventhough I was willing to pay to upgrade they said there hotel was full. I went to there website and they had rooms available. So just a word of advice if you plan to use priceline and see that this hilton pops up beware. There is a $$$$$ for parking. On one positive not for you business or leisure travel with laptops. They have free WI-FI

Top Local Tips for Los Angeles

Choosing the right hotel LA is such a spread out city that choosing a hotel means choosing the kind of experience you'll have. Choose airport hotels only if your primary reason for being in LA is as a staging area for travels in and around. The metro system isn't nearly as developed as NYC and you'll be advised to choose a downtown area hotel if you want to see the proverbial LA sights.

Crazy Traffic When hiring a car in LA, we paid the extra to get a Sat Nav system in the car. With some of the heaviest traffic I have ever seen, I found the voice guidance very helpful to get in the correct lane to make turns.

Lost Luggage Get to the front of the queue at LAX to report lost luggage or you'll be there all night. Get your luggage sent to where you'll be two nights ahead if you're going somewhere remote
