Hi, just a note to say that myself and 2 girl friends are just back from 2 weeks in Los Angeles and it was a fab trip. We stayed in 4 different places on the trip, one of them Hotel Farmers Daughter for 2 nights. And it had such impression on us, we had to let u know. It was fantastic, the food was gorgeous and the rooms and the setting etc was just out of this world. The staff were so friendly and helpful and it was a very memorable stay. Pls pass on my compliments to the Bellman from Brazil very nice. Hopefully we will see you again. Thank -you!!! Marsha

A fantastic hotel!

I 've stayed at Farmer's Daughter with my brother for 6 nights in May 2004 and the hotel was just perfect: reasonable price, great location (just a short walk from the Grove and Farmer's Market), and a very friendly staff. The rooms are stylish and comfortable and also very clean. The bed is gigantic and the bathroom has a tub.
To sum it up, I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone willing to stay in L.A.!

Stayed @ The FD from 4/25 - 4/29. Overall great experience. The location is great & the hotel itself is wonderful - all for a great price. The common areas are very well planned out - I stayed in Room 214 on the second floor of the main bldg. The room is a nice size (not fancy) but has everything you need. Right outside my room was a sitting area with an umbrella that I ate at a few times (take out from Whole Foods, at the Farmers Mrkt) - lovely. Also this area overlooks the pool. The pool is accessible from inside the property but is outdoors, very interesting set up. A good section of the lobby is also actually outdoors & has great seating areas. I disagree with the reviewer who didn't like the FD bc of the lack of a scene - who needs that lame attitude. The FD has the interesting design aspects without the ridiculous attitude that usually goes hand in hand with it - I applaud that. Things I don't applaud would include the elevator being out of service when I checked in (10 pm LA time, 1am my mental time) & being told this without also being offered assistance hauling my luggage up the stairs. I was left to do that on my own. No lock on the windows which face an alley & mine had a telephone pole with steps on it a foot away! A final sour note at the end, I checked out very early - 6am & realized that I left my leather jacket hanging in the closet. I called from LAX & the front desk said they hadn't even begun cleaning the rms yet, but would make the staff aware that there was a jacket left. I called a few days later & they took my name & address & said they would check to see if it was found. I called again a few days later & was told they hadn't found it. It was hanging right there in the closet & they were notified BEFORE the rm was even cleaned. Not good.

We stayed here last week and I must say it was exactly what I expected.
It's a fun, clean & well designed motel. My boyfriend especially enjoyed the free carmels and chocolate and the AMAZING shower which he describes as like being under a waterfall. It's a great place for a few nights to sleep. The one thing I didn't appreciate was that upon check in I decided that later in the week I had plans to travel to palm springs and they would not let me cancel or change my reservation without being fully charged. I wound up just paying for the night and not staying there for that night. I returned back to the farmers daughter refreshed from Palm Springs and I have to say it felt good to be back at the F.D. I'd definately stay here again! I hope they keep their prices so reasonable. Oh and eat breakfast at Cantors - BEST PANCAKES!!

The staff was very nice. When we first arrived, I had to sign off on a sheet that said I would be responsible for anything missing in the room. Well the list was long and items quite expensive! I specifically asked for a copy of this so that I could check. Everything was in order. well I arrived home and a few days later I received a letter that my credit card had been charged $30 b/c a pillow was missing from my room! I was furious. This hotel obviously looks for loopholes like this to make more money. I immediately called the hotel and demanded a manager who I explained the situation to who in turn talked to the maid who said she had my room mixed up with someone else. Luckily I got my money back but because of this, I will never stay here again. Why deal with that hassle? The maid made a 'mistake'? I don't think so, like I said, its a ploy for an extra buck. There were other hotels closer to the strip that I was weary of because of the location, but they would have been better/closer than the Farmer's Daughter and safe too. The rooms were clean and nice, but it was the strangest hotel I have ever seen. Also, quite noisy.

It's hard to write a bad review for the FD because they are so darn nice and they really try to do their best. Everything about them is cool and great but the actual accomodations are weak. The rooms are loud with lots of street noise. Maybe if you get a room not facing the street. But then you will be facing someone's apartment. But if you get the rate at under $100, it really is a good deal. I feel they gouged me because we went during the Oscars. $125. Great location and FREE parking. Free DSL too. It isn't luxurious by any means, but it is stayable and clean. And the staff is very friendly. No carpet in the rooms.

I stayed there because I heard some good things about it and I wanted to give it a chance. If your interested in hanging out with Price is Right and tourist from the midwest then you should feel right at home.
The design has great inspiration, modern farm theme, hardwood floors, nice logo, but the overall execution is greatly lacking. Its a lame attempt at cool. Its like a bad Mondrian, Standard, Viceroy, Avalon wannabe. My advice...renovate again and this time do it right. The location is perfect but if you want a LA hip scene where celebrities might show up,this is not the place to see or be seen. Stick to the other places.

After reading several reviews on both TripAdvisor and some magazines (including Vanity Fair), I decided to give this little hotel a try. The staff is friendly and courteous, but I would not recommend this hotel if you are the type of traveller who prefers to stay in a "W" type or small boutique hotels. While the entire hotel has been renovated it's still really a "motel" rather than "hotel." If you're not terribly picky this is a great find. Great location, great price and free parking!

What a great little hotel right across the street from the famous Famer's Market. I found the staff friendly and helpful, the prices SUPER affordable, the room clean, fresh, and hip, and the public space really hip yet private. I loved it! Definitely would recommend again and again. So conveniently located---it's unbelieveabe! Owners are super cool, too. Be sure to say hello when you are there. They've just renovated the whole property. A ++++++

What sold me on the Farmer's Daughter was the staff and the location!
The hotel is right across the street from CBS Studios. For all those nuts who'd like a chance to be on the Price Is Right or go to a variety of studio tapings this is a perfect place. Let me preface this by saying, we planned a last minute trip to L.A. to see family and the Farmer's Daughter took care of us. With less than two weeks notice they were able to get us Price Is Right tickets and held them until our arrival. -They also helped us with other Studio tapings which is very cool because many places and people in L.A. couldn' t care less about what you need. -I definitely recommend this place to anyone going to the Price Is Right - People line up at 3 a.m. across the street to get on the show (even if you have tickets to the show it doesn't guarantee you a spot). -We were able to walk back & forth during the wait to our room, use the restroom, get a cat nap, have continental breakfast, etc!
About the Rooms: The rooms have been remodeled with a country theme and are very clean. Rooms have hardwood floors, two double beds or king, the bedding has jean denim covers, with a rustic dresser/desk housing a T.V and Stereo along with a DSL connection. The sinks have a very unique faucet with open storage shelves for the linens. The closet is a little small as well as the toilet and shower, but it is nice that the vanity is separate from the bathroom. They have an in-room safe which is good since you can't take Cell phones or Cameras into the CBS studios. The only daunting part of the whole experience is that the motel does not look very nice on the outside and all the rooms are exterior. But nonetheless we felt safe and secure once we got a feel for the area. Once it is completely remodeled it will much more presentable to future guests. Also across the way is the Famers Market & the Grove which has lots of shopping, restaurants (Nordstrom, FAO Schwartz & little botiques) and freshly grown edibles! Melrose Ave & Beverly Blvd are nearby for shopping and night life. -We traded luxury over location and had a great time, we didn't have to deal with the L.A traffic or snootiness and would come back in a heart beat. I wouldn't recommend this hotel for families with small children as there really aren't accomodations or things for them to do; remember this is a motel, not a full service hotel. I would recommend it to adults or families with older kids. The clean rooms, location and staff made this trip so enjoyable, it was neat to experience a studio taping and I'd go back in a heart beat to stay at the Farmer's Daughter and go to more tapings.

This hotel is an excellent find! We bring in a lot of business clients and partners to Los Angeles, and have put several of them in the Farmers Daughter. Service atmosphere has always been consistent, friendly, and thorough. The rooms have just been re-designed and really differentiate this property from the chains. If you're looking for a great value, with top notch service and proximity to all the right places down town, I'd highly recommend the Farmers Daughter.

Top Local Tips for Los Angeles

Area shopping directly accross the street from the hotel there is the Farmers Market and The Grove outdoor mall. Just down the street was the Beverly Center. Also in close proximity is Melrose for all that vintage shopping my wife likes and of course a short drive to Rodeo drive. You can do it all in a day and still be able to go back to the hotel for a great meal and relaxation with a DVD from the front desk.

CBS Tickets For many shows taped at CBS on Beverly Blvd, you can print out your tickets at home (not for The Price is Right, however) I printed my Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson tickets at home through the On Camera Audience website (ocatv.com) and got in line before the required time and had excellent seats.
