I-got-my-money's-worth! I absolutely loved the service & ammenities at this hotel. Check-in is usually a clear indication of whats to come - I had (((NO PROBLEMS))). Hotel ratings usually suffer because their staff become obstacles to their guests. NOT IN THIS CASE. I experienced "NO OBSTACLES". I felt welcomed with (((OPEN ARMS)))! To top that off, the shower AND the bed was truly HEAVENLY. I will be purchasing both!

A beautiful hotel - Great for conferences

I stayed at the Westin for two nights attending a conference in the hotel. The rooms are spacious and the beds extremely comfortable. I've stayed at the Hyatt down the street and the Westin rooms are much better. The conference accomadations were very nice and the staff extremely attentive. As far as I could tell, everything was set up with very few problems. Local eateries are within walking distance with a number of choices. One drawback, for some reason the hotel garage doesn't keep both its entrances open at the same time. I had to turn around more than once when leaving the hotel by car because one exit had been closed and the other opened. Seems to me that they could afford to have both gate booths open during business hours.

Two different experiences

My wife and I stayed here twice- once prior to our
"Princess" cruise and then again for 2 days after our
cruise.
The first stay was super... great check in- room on the 14th floor with Ocean view.... great experience...

We then went in the opposite direction with our
second stay.... Hostile front desk clerk in
check in.... room in somewhat poor condition....
poor view.... safe in room was not working.. took
staff 2.5 hours to fix problem..... All in all...
ok but not worth price. Guests do not need attitude from individual at check in!

Excelent location

Got the room for $100, work-rate.

Valet parking is $19 a day.

14th is the Preferred floor.

Even number rooms face the ocean, Odd the city/mountains.

Check-in was smooth, they acknowledge my gold status. Just as she about to give me my key, I asked if my room had a view or if there are any upgrades…a few more clicks, I had a room on 14 facing the ocean.

We stayed in Westin Long Beach prior to our cruise and found it to be a great experience. I read the trip advisor reviews and often find them petty but "you can't please everyone"! We were right near the attractions for the area, i.e the Queen MAry, Aquarium etc. and found Roscoe's Waffles and Chicken a great "local" place for breakfast. Our room was extremely clean and the bed was perfect! If we had not been so anxious to board the cruise ship, we would have lounged around a bit longer. At a lot of places we have stayed before we could not get real glasses or coffee mugs...only paper or plastic! (and I mean higher priced hotels like Disney resorts!) Nothing ruins a nice glass of wine like a plastic cup! We got a great deal on the room, only $125 for the night because of a promotion but I think you would be very happy with the stay and the service at any price.

A nice option in Long Beach

I had the pleasure to stay at the Westin Long Beach before and after my Trans-Pacific cruise this month. Both stays were enjoyable. As a Starwood Gold Member--I was upgraded to a small corner suite and both rooms were comfortable with nice views. The bed was exceptional. The hotel has a small gym and a very nice restaurant--where I dined for both breakfast and dinner and was very impressed with the food and service. While there is not much to do in Long Beach--the hotel was well situated to the main attractions like the Queen Mary. If I were in Long Beach again, I would not hesitate to stay at the Westin again.

No complaints here. The Westin is in a great location right across the street from dining, shopping and movies. Parking was quite steep but it was the only option as it seemed that street parking is non-existent. Overall great experience.

not as nice as other Westin hotels

I used to live in Long Beach and worked in the builiding next to this hotel. They remodeled the lobby, and it looks quite nice.

Concierge: nothing special. ok appearance and service.

Room: It's quite outdated. We had a deluxe king size bed room, but I was a bit disappointed. Ceiling needs to be changed; it's really tacky. Lamps need to be changed.

Nice view of Long Beach harbor and Breakers hotel. There's a lot of space between the door bottom and carpet. You can hear pretty much everything in the hallway.

Bathroom: Not clean. Didn't want to use the tub. The bath tub was clogged.

Worth the $ for the Heavenly Bed!

Although we felt this hotel was a bit pricey, one nights sleep in the heavenly bed changed our mind! We were so impressed with the bed we ordered the catalog to purchase one for our home. The location is great as well, an easy walk to Long Beach major attractions. Our room was not clean when we checked in , rice in the chair and all over the floor (prior guest must have ordered room service!). One call and it was promptly take care of. Lobby was cold, tiny pool, and no concierge lounge. No matter- Rooms nicely decorated and comfortable with a great view, good location, and ohhhh those beds!

Top Local Tips for Long Beach

Do some research and your stay will be fabulous I've been told Long Beach has changed for the better and it sure looks it! Lots of walking to do, put on your comfortable shoes and stay on the main streets...lots of helpful men and women on bikes (they're part of the Downtown area) they're like guest services on bikes! Amazing! Love the free red bus too! Lots of restaurants to choose from, from steaks, to italian, to chain restaurants, this city has it all in the downtown area! Come with an open mind and you'll have no problem getting a bad meal...The concierges here really know their city!

Aquarium of the Pacific Discounts If you buy your Aquarium of the Pacific tickets online, you can get a $5/adult discount! There is a kiosk opposite the ticket counter that allows you to pick up your pre-ordered tickets automatically.

Bostons... DON'T DO IT!!!
