Nice rooms and very good beds.
the promised swimming pool is closed. Bathrobe? not in my room. everything (and I mean everything!) costs extra.
For example, $4.25 for the small bottle of water that is on your room. At 169$ ex tax, even the breakfast is not included. And for the price they ask for that, you can have a room in a motel.

Very nice property!

from squirrelpaws
I stayed on a Tuesday night, with typical HHonors Gold amenities...Executive Floor room and breakfast buffet. The room was very nice, with a surprisingly good view of the harbor and port operations. Lots of marble, and a nice king-sized bed. Breakfast quality was decent...I've had better, but it did the job. Breakfast service was especially attentive.

Hotel location is on the north end of town, so it's a walk to get anywhere to eat dinner. I went about 1/4 mile or so to a Mexican place; at that distance there was also a California Pizza Kitchen, Rock Bottom Brewery and various other eateries. Long Beach impressed me...I expected it to be a lot seedier than it was. Walking through downtown LB in the evening was like walking through the San Francisco financial district, but with fewer panhandlers.

I enjoyed my stay...I just made reservations for about 5 more stays there for my next trips to Long Beach.

Great Place to Stay!

I have stayed at this hotel two times now on business and it is the only place I will stay when I'm in Long Beach. The rooms are large and well decorated. The staff is very friendly and helpful. I'm not sure how the location works for vacationers, since I'm only there for business.

Everything was just great about the Hilton. Had a beautiful room with a magnificent balcony overlooking the pool and bay. Unfortunately I was on a business trip so couldn't enjoy the hotel as I would have liked to. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Couldn't have asked for anything better.

A nice place to stay in Beautiful downtown Long Beach. Had a great ocean view. Staff was pleasant and food is great. The aquarium of the Pacific was close by and that was a real treat. Loved Long Beach!! Hilton made it a much better stay. Lots of nice hotels around, and don't regret staying here to visit Long Beach.

Thanks to Priceline!

from smalt4
We got the Hitlon for $65.00 a night thanks to Priceline. Good location, although the Hyatt is closer to the "Pike" which has shops and restaurants (you will pay $10.00 a day for the parking garage).
My complaints: They put us in a handicapped room for some reason so our shower was a hand held unit that was mounted but kept slipping down, and there was only a sink with no counter. The shower curtain and liner were all cloth so they got soaked when taking a shower, I complained at the front desk but it never got fixed.
We had to pay $25.00 for a week of internet access (Marriot Long Beach has it free).

Nice Hotel

Great Hotel. Sevice was wonderful and quick. Interior and rooms were very modern and comortable. Staff was very responsive and nice. Good deal and not too far from LA.

Companion options limited

If you will be mostly in the room, or a companion will be, the site has few places nearby to visit, and the TV is limited, lacking Fox News and other popular cable programming.

The Hilton Long Beach was just wonderful

from RLHChicagoIllinois
It was my first trip to Calif. and in Long Beach. The Hilton Hotel in Long beach was perfect and our family reunion committee secured good rates for our traveling family members. The Hotel is downtown central to everywhere you would want to go. I enjoyed the tour of the Queen Mary and Roscoes Chicken and Waffle resturant. As with any vacation you always need more time. I would definitely plan to stay at the Hilton the next time I visit Long Beach.

Are you kidding??? This place was great!

First, let me say that I refer to Trip Advisor as my travel bible now, especially when it comes to hotels. I especially read reviews that address items like: location, accuracy of advertised amenities, odd smells, discourteous staff, potential rip-offs, expensive food which is not worth the money, and above all, hotel and room cleanliness. I was stunned to see all the bad reviews about this Hilton so I felt it only fair to share my positive experiences about the place (since I trashed the Marriott Fallsview in Niagara Falls a few months ago for what my family perceived as rip-offs).
Hopefully, you will see that I am not an unreasonable person.

My family (5 of us from ages 11-83) stayed 2 nights at the Hilton over July 4th weekend on our way to a cruise. The location in Long Beach was remarkable. We walked everywhere: to restaurants, shopping, even movie theaters and never needed a car or taxi. It was our first time in Long Beach and we were all incredibly impressed with the free shuttles (city-provided) at stops along the way. We had just about mastered the transit system by the time we left. My son and I walked across the street from the hotel and rented a paddle boat on a man-made pond. The weather was chilly in the morning but the afternoons were lovely. We had a blast! I thought the city was incredibly clean (what we saw on foot) and the area surrounding the hotel was impeccably well-groomed. I would have been proud to have claimed myself a Long Beacher.

The hotel itself was beautiful, stylish, and clean; the beds comfy, both the room and bathroom a very good size. (If anyone has a problem with the size of these rooms I would recommend running quickly in a direction as far away as possible from any hotel in Niagara). After staying at dozens of high dollar hotels lately and leaving disgusted, I was thrilled to actually get what I paid for. In fact, MORE than what I paid for. I booked through Expedia and received from what I can recall, a rate of about $120. Having paid more than double that at the Marriott in Niagara Falls recently, and leaving a day early in disgust, Hilton restored my faith in the hotel trade. I realize this sounds like I really have it in for poor Marriott. But believe it or not, I actually like the chain and think for the most part, they do a great job. Back to the Hilton. If you're one of those travelers who LOVES top-notch service in the form of bellhops, it was'nt present. I'm not saying it wasn't available. We just as soon carry our own bags if they are not cumbersome. Though we are generally marvelous tippers, there are times it is actually nice not to have to tip someone every 5 minutes for things one can easily do themself. (personal preference). All in all, I rate this hotel excellent. By the way, the staff we came in contact with were hospitable and helpful. I could not have been happier with this choice of hotel, or its location. Oh, be careful with the whole shuttle thing to and from the airport. We took a blue shuttle (I think it was Super Shuttle) from the airport. It stopped for at least 2 other guests before dropping us off at our hotel and took almost an hour. When you're coming in at 10:00p.m., all you want to do is get in and relax. After the cruise, we were told by a friendly bus driver to look for yellow shuttles (far cheaper). What a God-send she was! For some reason, the same ride that cost us (2 adults and 1 child) $50 on the way from the airport cost us (5 adults and 1 child) $20...that's right, $20 (and that's with a bunch of luggage)!!. Let the buyer beware and be on the lookout for yellow. Thank you, Hilton.

Its just OK

from jimtexas
The hotel is OK. The rooms are well appointed as are the common areas....marble everywhere!

The quality of the food (buffet, banquet) is dismal/awful/dreadful. Eat somewhere else.

The pool is very strange--good size but there is no deep end...its only about 2 feet deep all around.

The front entry way is strange, too. there are only steps to get to the front desk. There is one strange elevator that will whisk you up four steps....just strange!
