Look, I like hip hop and I love snowboarding - The Block delivered what I was hoping to get. I can see why some folks would not like it - for all the reasons I like it. I will go back for sure.

I visited a friend of mine who was staying at this hotel one summer about 3 years ago and thought it was crappy then, but I was pretty sure they had since remodelled so figured I'd give it a try for my boyfriend’s birthday last weekend. I booked the Spy Room over a month in advance because it was the only room in the hotel with a Jacuzzi tub, and since we were going to be boarding I wanted to be able to come back and relax in it. Turns out the day I'm supposed to check in they screw up and give my room to someone else. When I get there they tell me they can't switch the people out of it because there isn't anyone there able to clean the room. On top of that they refuse to comp. any portion of my stay saying that they aren't allowed to comp. weekend nights. They put us in a lesser room that they said was the same price, and once we got in it you could tell that they just did the bare minimum to try and make it LOOK remodelled. The tiny room had peeling wallpaper, one of the base boards was broken in half and missing, there obviously used to be a door that connected our room to the next that they tried to wallpaper over but you could still see the outline and where the door knob used to be there was just a hole in the wall, there were extension cords and power strips strung across the carpet and around the corner of the wall, in the even tinier bathroom (that would not fit two people at the same time) you could see where old fixtures used to be because they didn't repaint the walls when they moved them, and the list goes on and on and on...and all of this for $200 a night! There weren't even any board pegs in the room like their website advertised and I'm assuming that all the other rooms are just as bad. There was also a fight at a party in one of the rooms one night and when I thought I heard a windshield break I looked out the window and saw some of the hotel staff down screwing around with the kids. I understand wanting to give off a young, low-key image but you should still have a level of professionalism from your employees and you should be willing to keep the place up, it IS a business after all and you ARE taking peoples money. Too much of it for what this hotel and its staff is worth.

This place is a DUMP!

I wish I would of read some of the reviews of this hotel before arriving, I would of known what to expect. The best way to summarize is that this place is would be better suited being rented by the hour! Not worth the $200 per night we dumped into it! I hope they can take the time to make repairs/upgrades to the property to bring it up to justify the rates that they are charging! I am an avid snowboarder and have been for 10+ years, and I am disappointed that this is Montoya's place.
