Location good - quality not great
The location is very good-- walking distance to the casinos (about 1 block), 1/2 block from the main road Lake Tahoe Blvd., close to Heavenly Ski Resort (short drive). They also offer shuttles to the major ski resorts which is nice so you don't have to drive. The continental breakfast was not good. Offered orange juice and coffee, cereal, and breakfast bar things... not much. There was no elevator and we had to lug all of our stuff to the second or third floor. The pool and hot tub couldn't be used in winter because it was snowed in with no mainenance. The hotel and rooms themselves were somewhat run down.. what you'd expect of a cheap hotel, but it wasn't very cheap. I think we paid about $70-$80 a night which was too expensive for what we got... a place to sleep. If you get a good price to stay there it's worth it, but don't pay too much because it is really not all that great.
I would say this is the worst hotel I have ever stayed in, but it was so bad, I refused to stay!! It is also the ONLY hotel have refused to stay in. Don't be decieved by the nice photos and claims of a recent "renovation". The only signs of renovation that are evident for the past many years is a new coat of paint on the exterior of the building. They refused to refund my first night's stay even though I never occupied the room. I left five messages with the property manager, and never recieved any response. The rooms are the smallest I have ever seen. I have a larger closet at home. I asked to see other rooms, and they were just as bad. There was an odor in the room, loud noises from AC/Heating units, a single small florescent bulb on the ceiling, spackling patches on the wall..... This property is on the verge of becoming a "rent by the week" dump. There are literally a hundred hotels within a 3 mile radius. You NEVER need to stay at this one.
