Free shuttle was great

from A TripAdvisor Member
We loved the free shuttle. It took us everywhere we wanted to go. To the lifts, casinos, resturants, grocery store, you name it. No need to rent a car, use city busses, or taxis. Rooms were nice and adequite, but we diddnt spend much time there. Free breakfast was good. Hot tub felt good after a day on the slopes but be warned that its outside(cold walk to tub). Nice brewpub right across the street. Heavenly was nice but very spread out with many flat areas (snowboarders beware!). Food prices on the mountain are outrageous($32 for 2 burgers fries and drink). Eat breakfast at the resort and bring a powerbar for lunch and have dinner in town.

Great value for a ski weekend

from jgustafson
We stayed at Lakeland Village for a three night ski trip over the MLK weekend and found the place to be perfect for our needs. The rooms are clean, comfortable and spacious (we had a 1 bedroom room with a loft and 1.5 baths that worked great for 3-4 people). The location is convenient, just 1 mile from the base of Heavenly Ski Resort and 1 mile from the Nevada casinos. Additionally, the free shuttle service was available to take us to and from Heavenly each day and dinner in the evenings.

For dinner, do not miss Evans Cafe, only a 10 minute drive (or shuttle ride) from Lakeland Village. They had great food (try the venison) and a reasonable wine list that made the dinner a much better value than the upscale casino restaurants.

Wonderful Place, Super nice people and close to everything

from Rzknow
We stayed in a 3 bedroom townhouse for 4 nights during the MLK weekend. It was awesome. We really enjoyed it, the 3 bedroom with loft sleeps 15 with the pull out couch (We had 13). Only complaint was a leaky ceiling, but they compensated us for it (What can you expect with 19 feet of snow!) The front desk was so helpful and courteous. The housekeeping responded quickly, and our group had our privacy. The shuttle drivers responded quickly and were so helpful with bags. We never waited more than 10 minutes for the shuttle. Lakeland is walking distance to a few watering holes and all around a great place to stay. I would recommend this to anyone. We initially were booked with 3 peaks resort and beach club but they were so horrible, canceling our reservation, lying to us and then hanging up on us. My friends and I are so glad that we switched to Lakeland village. My only complaint was a small water heater. We had to take cold showers sometimes.

Good value, Great Shuttle Service

from A TripAdvisor Member
We stayed at the Lakeland for two nights over the Christmas period. The 1 bedroom suite with loft was spacious and came fully equipped with all the basic amenities. General condition was OK, clean, but the unit we had showed signs of age as can be expected of a 30+ year property. Service staff was prompt, friendly and knowledgeable and except for a not-so-pleasant check in experience, we had no other complaints. The front office manager was especially helpful.

Conveniently located - the lake is right behind the property, major ski slopes, the village and grocery stores are a short drive away. The complimentary shuttle service is excellent and best thing of all, it is on demand. You do not really need a car to get around the area.

Might even be the best in town..

Hello all,

Just got back from SLH and Lakeland Village. Let me tell you I had a great experience. The staff there are very friendly and the price was as well. Eighty bucks a night for the standard room, which includes a kitchenette stocked with all the utensils, plates, blender, etc. That price by the way is through one of the big internet travel websites. I can honestly say after usually staying in one hundred and ten dollar a night Hotel Sixes this will far exceed your expectations. They have a complimentary shuttle that can get you around town. We also rented our skis/snowboards from the shop located in their parking garage. Full service lodge! They even have a small video/dvd collection for $3 per night. I don't have a single complaint other than catering service(1800 # you call. not associated with the lodge) we ordered pizza from wasn't too swift and overpriced. Also, have a hot tub available but I didn't see any takers, then again it was in the twentys most of the time. Check it out.

Surpassed All Expecations

I was motivated to post a review, because I am currently in the process of booking a return trip next September. This was the 3rd stop of our trip up Hwy 395 this past September, which included Mammoth and June Lakes. I had been to Tahoe a few times about 10-15 years ago, but those were more "party" trips as a late teen/early 20-something when I lived in the Bay Area. I can't remember which unit we stayed in, but it was a standard 1 bdrm in the Pinegrove section. We didn't have a view from our unit, but the beach was maybe 30 yards away. Spectacular. What an amazing place. The staff was friendly, the unit was great, the location was perfect. The drives we took were a lot of fun. Virginia City is an easy drive, Donner Summit, or just a drive up the West side of the lake to Tahoe City. Great easy getaway if you live in California or nearby...

We are planning a return trip with 2 other couples and booking a 3 bdrm lakefront unit this time....

Fun family getaway - - comfortable and cozy

from A TripAdvisor Member
We really enjoyed our stay at Lakeland - - and I was nervous having never stayed there and having experienced both the results of getting creative when staying in Tahoe (some dive that looked great on the 'net) and getting stuck on my honeymoon in a Time Share hell in Mexico.

The studio loft was a good size for myself, hubby and 7-year old...only complaint was the downstairs bathroom - a bit annoying in the middle of the nite. Staff was very nice and accommodating...this is a good family resort that doesn't have the worn look of a 30-year old+ resort. We will definitely return to enjoy during the wintertime...

Overpriced for somewhat shabby unit.

from ericksmw
Great location, but the two bedroom condo was way overpriced ($350 night) for the quality offered Furniture was kind of funky, clean, but somewhat rundown. Walls needed painting with large patches in multiple places. Pool, hot tub and other facilities were fine. For $200 a night it would have been a bargain, but for the price, I would expect more.

Good value and position in South Lake Tahoe

from crimson999
This is a good value proposition in South Lake Tahoe. Accomodations are clean and sizeable ( we had 1-bedroom with loft). Nice position as the lake is at the rear of the property. Bear in mind this is pretty much apartment-style living.

Safeway is close for groceries and ski-slopes are 5 minute or so drive. There is a complimentary shuttle.

A good all round place to stay in Tahoe. nothing luxurious but good value and very good for families

it was really good

i stayed here for a week in feb 04, and i really thought the accomodation was fantastic! its really close to many restaurants and casinos, and of course the ski resorts nearby are great. i was in unit 424 (i think) and there was more than enough room for 4 of us, actually, there was enough room for 9! the tv had satellite, although the programs were a little bit odd, and the views were great. the kitchen was really good, and well equipped. the only problem was the ghost, we saw it on our second last night, and it was definately the scariest experience of my life, but i got through it. if you are ever in 424, watch out for it, its massive and orangey coloured, and quite blobby. that was the only bad thing about my stay in lakeland village, and given the chance i would definately go back there.

Top Local Tips for Lake Tahoe

heavenly Don't miss the views from the top of heavenly, ride the gondola to the top even if you don't plan to ski, you won't be disappointed.

Fire & Ice Located near the Gondala in Heavenly village, not cheap but all you can eat, you pick the meat & sides and sauce and they cook it in the middle of the restaurant. Great food and fun.

Fallen Leaf Lake Make sure you take a short hike to Fallen Leaf Lake. Beautiful and sparsely populated by tourists
