NOT worth the money!

Definitely NOT a 4 star hotel and definitely NOT worth the money. This hotel does not live up to Embassy's reputation and standards. From the dimly lit rooms, cheap linens, and poor maid service, to the lack of adequate elevator service, I was hugely disappointed. Waiting 20-30 minutes just for a elevator was the average. Most of the hotel staff were uninformed young foreign college students who barely spoke English, were disorganized and very inefficient. A VERY tedious experience. Pass this one by until they get their act together and can live up to Embassy Suite's normal class of service.

Better than I expected

from A TripAdvisor Member
Stayed 4 nights in July, 2004. Room was clean and spacious, but bed, pillows, and linens below average. Breakfast was great; they never ran out of food and staff was friendly. Happy hour was extremely generous! Dinner at their Echo restaurant was outstanding. Location was good for walking to casinos and shops. Would definitely recommend this hotel.

Rude Staff at the Front Desk!!!!!

from A TripAdvisor Member
We stayed at the Embassy Suites in mid-January 2004. We have frequented at least 7 of the Embassy Suites hotels since we usually travel with at least 5 people. We usually have great experiences with this hotel chain, but the Embassy Suites across from Harrah's casino had the worst front desk staff EVER! The two women and one man were three of the most obnoxious, smart ***, and unfriendly people we have ever encountered!!! They should be banned from working at hotels. Talk about non-HOSPITABLE! Too bad I don't recall their names, but I'm sure it's on my receipt. We booked online via Expedia and had a confirmation number and they kept insisting that we weren't guaranteed a room. What the HELL!? Also, when we checked-in there were no guests at the front desk and we were told "we'll be with you in a minute." Then a load of skiers came in to check-in and they SERVED THEM FIRST! I don't want to GO RACIAL, but clearly the three front desk personnel knew we were there first and chose to cater to the lighter skinned people. WE SHOULD HAVE STAYED AT HARRAH'S!!!!!! At least the Harrah's staff are color-blind.

Exceeded my expectations

I must say that I arrived expecting a decent room, but figured that the included breakfast and cocktail hour would be so-so. Visions of watered down drinks and small breakfast portions filled my head. It was just the opposite. Both were quite generous and the service accompanying it was excellent. Check in was easy-it was clear that they know when the prime check in hours are and staff the front desk appropriately. My kids loved the pool and a request for a rollaway bed was responded to within 10 minutes. Price was a little high - it was a weekend, but I feel I received value for my money, especially considering the ideal location.

Each time I have stayed at this property, I have been impressed. The lobby and central courtyard are tastefully decorated. The breakfast and reception area is large, well lit, and inviting. The full breakfast provided is always fresh, and cooked to order. The rooms reflect typical Embassy style with large comfortable sitting areas, and decor to blend with the natural surroundings. The location at Stateline cant be beat, and since its on the California side, is non smoking. I have only good things to say about this hotel. I am distressed to read the negative reviews of this property, as it is a lovely and inviting place to stay when in the Stateline area.

We had booked our stay at the Embassy Suites through Expedia, who lists this as a 4 star hotel. I guess technically this is correct, since all the services are technically in place to elevate the hotel to 4 star status. We booked into the Embassy because we thought it might be a little nicer than the other Casino-Resort in Heavenly.
However, in practice, the hotel looks run-down, suffers from bad management and generally speaking does not live up to the star rating, and much less the description on any of the online sites, such as expedia. We had several problems during our stay, none of which were resolved during our stay, despite repeated complaints made to reception/concierge/management. That being said, we enjoyed the daily afternoon drinks reception and the plentiful breakfast.
The hot tub is in dire need of expansion, with 800+ guests vying for 1 of only 8 seats in the indoor tub. The small pool looks dirty and uninviting. The general decor of the hotel looks cheap and tacky.
In summary, needs an overhaul of the decor, update the services and facilities and sack the management, which could make this a great hotel.

Great Place to Stay

from A TripAdvisor Member
This is a wonderful place to stay. The amenities are wonderful. Breakfast...cook to order as well as cereal, fruit, coffee cake, etc. Happy Hour. Both are included with your suite. Service is excellent.

Exactly what we needed!

from DFGA
3 guys, 1 ski trip, need enough space but close to the action. This is the place! Can walk to the gondola, hit harrah's with a rock, get ski rentals across the street, bars/clubs right next door. You get smooth looking robes in your room you can wear down to the nice hottub jacuzzi. Every night from 5-7 they have a free cocktail hour and you can drink whatever you want! They also have a free hot breakfast buffet every morning. After looking at some of these other reviews, I guess some of these uppity people need a ritz carlton everywhere they go.
Well stay there and you can also buy a bowl of oatmeal for $17 and it will cost you at least $50 in drinks per night. I would stay here again in a heartbeat! The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was the price was a little steep, but I guess if I didn't blow so much $$ in the casinos I would feel better.

Great place to stay - good value , central location, close to skiing and shops

from A TripAdvisor Member
Great accomodations. Large room, great breakfast and happy hour - all included with the room. The location was fantastic - walking to the gondola and all the great shops at Heavenly Village. The location was perfect and so was the hotel! The staff was friendly and prompt at requests for service.

at South Lake Tahoe

from A TripAdvisor Member
We took a midweek ski vacation to Heavenly (South Lake Tahoe) in early February 04. Stayed at Embassy Suites which was very convenient, clean, comfortable not to mention a great breakfast each morning that is included with your room. The skiing is good not great. (the slight incline from some lifts to the trails were really my only complaint- I guess I am on the lazy side) But THE VIEW OF THE LAKE is absolutely beautiful and was well worth our long venture out to California. No long lift lines. Very friendly staff. Would definately recommend to others. Be sure to drive around the entire lake while you are there. It truely is one of the most beautiful sites in our US.

Rooms are very, very small. No continental breakfast. Cab ride to casinos was $7.
