Stayed at the 3 Peaks Resort previously, same comments about the air as a previous responder. But we had no screen on the window for the continous cool breezes, it was leave your front door open all night or suffer through the heat and humidity, we departed early and cut short our stay at Lake Tahoe.

The room itself was very pleasant and the Resort is nicely located close to the Lake and the Casinos. Unfortunately we had the room towards the side of the street, right where it made a bend to the right. Since it is nice and quiet closer to the Lake, you could really hear those nice speeders rushing through the curve. If I stay there again, I would ask for a room in a different section.

The resort was hot and musty, no air conditioning. Requsted a fan and the desk staff was rude in there response that this is a mountainus resort with the cool breezes of the summertime, it was raining and very humid. Checked out a day early. We will Never go back.

My visit was like the stay in hell, It was hot and musty. There was no air conditioning and the screens were torn so when you open the windows bugs came in. I went to the desk clerk requesting a fan but that was to no avail. The desk clerk was extreamly rude in stating that this was a mountain resort with continous cool breezes and thay didn't need air. Well appearently they don't need my business either.
Allergic to room

I had a severe allergic reaction to my room due to the fact that animals are allowed.
The Manager was no help. In fact she was the most rude, condescending person I encountered in the SLT area. I had to move out of the motel. Then I experienced considerable relief of the allergic symptoms. Unbelievable negative experience.

Paid $40 plus taxes for a room. We were were upgraded to a suite which was amazing. The only problem was that one of the three t.v's did not have a remote. The hot tub was enormous. We were in there with about 10 other college kids and yet still had privacy.

Would definitely stay there again.

Do Not Stay Here!

Worse than Terrible! My family and I booked the lodge for a ski vacation/family reunion. First, we were told that our reservation was automatically cancelled b/c their computer messed up and quoted the wrong price, after we had a confirmation number and everything. They rectified the problem, then conveniently told us that the lodge was no longer available for the timeframe we had requested. When I pushed the General Manager as to the availability of the lodge, I was YELLED at, given a load of crap of excuses, and then HUNG UP ON - midsentence! Who hangs up on their CUSTOMERS? If this place wants to stay in business - they need to get some morals, a new customer friendly attittude, and learn how to fix their computer glitches. My family will all be contacting the Better Business Bureau.

Close, Clean and Cozy.

This is a great hotel, and I will definitely stay there again when in town. The room was clean and cozy. The price was great too- I was nervous that for the price, it wouldnt be so great, but I was pleasantly suprised. The hot tub was prettty good too, it is really big, so you dont feel uncomfortable with 3 or 4 people in it. The only negative thing that I would have to say, is the lobby does not open till 8am, and I wake up really early, so for me this was a bit of a inconvenience. Overall, I think this is a reliable choice and I would recommend it to anybody.

Great dog friendly resort

from cherylLosGatos_Ca
Great price, location, and excellent for dog loving owners. Our room was immaculate and gives you a cabin feel, eventhough it is a hotel room. The atmosphere was quite tranquil. The reception staff were knowledgeable about resorts who are friendly with dogs, too. Definetely will comeback with family again.

Fabulous Deal

Great deal for $26. The room and bath were spotless. The room had a nice Tahoe decor. I would stay there again and it had more personality than a Motel 6.

Missing Brand New CD player in luggage

from A TripAdvisor Member
We stayed in late October. The 2 BR Suite was o.k. (not as nice as The Ridge) but the kitchen was small. It was cold outside and all that was heating the suite were 3 small electric heaters in the wall. The front door locked but not securely (you could see a large air gap).

When we arrived home, we noticed a brand new portable CD player (unopened in original packaging) was missing from our luggage. The General Manager said she'd ask the housekeeper if she saw it (or took it) and call me two (2) days later. I had to call her over a week later to followup when she had not called me back. She said that her housekeeper said she had not seen our CD player. I said that based on the fact that we haven't located it yet, someone must have taken it.

The General Manager just HUNG UP ON ME!!! What kind of customer service is this?

NOT what we paid for; huge false advertising.

from A TripAdvisor Member
The room would have been nice...if we had paid for a regular room! A suite with jacuzzi, fireplace, balcony and "MOUNTAIN VIEW" it definitely was NOT. We will never go back because there is no way to know what you are getting. Plus, the young woman helping me over the phone was insolent and couldn't find our reservations. The online photos shown for the suite we were getting can only be described as plain lies. Did I mention the dog ---- outside our door? The door which was supposed to be upstairs with a balcony, not facing the parking lot? I had been looking forward to soaking in the private jacuzzi we paid for and sitting by the fire with my boyfriend, hanging out on the balcony and enjoying the view. None of these were possible b/c we didn't HAVE THEM. The only plusses were the nice big hot tub outside and that it was close to town. The beachfront access is a crock and don't get me started on the "continental breakfast." If you like paying a premium and getting the minimum all while hearing every footstep upstairs, then stay here. If you consider the place the "3 Peaks MOTEL," maybe you'll like it. If we knew what to expect, maybe I'd feel different. But I was expecting what was advertised. My advice? Keep looking. Good luck.

Great pet-friendly hotel

from aardvark609
A recent weekend stay (10/2 - 10/04) with my wife and dog proved to be surprisingly nice, given the numerous bad reviews listed here. A minor mix-up with the online reservation system resulted in an unasked-for upgrade to a 1 bedroom suite for $36/night plus $15 for the dog. This was the price for the deluxe king with fireplace ... the suite went for $79 that weekend. What that got me was a newly renovated room with nice pine paneling, a gas fireplace, and a great location that was easy walking distance to the lake and the casinos. It's not super luxury (remember the price) but it was clean, bright, and FAR better than anything else I can imagine in South Lake Tahoe for this price. Certainly better than the Super 8 or Motel 6 (which are clean but plain and generic) that I used to have to stay in as few places allow dogs. This would have been a good deal in the originally booked DLX king even without the upgrade, and the staff was very nice and things couldn't have gone smoother. I got the feeling that the renovations are completed or very close to it, so the nasty surprises of getting an unrenovated room are a thing of the past. I recommend giving the place a try; I'm already booked again for this weekend.

Not worth it

from A TripAdvisor Member
We stayed at this place from 7/6/04 to 7/10/04. We had a one-bedroom apartment #307 there, for which we paid an average of $152 a night. The apartment was obviously renovated, it looked nice - all in wood, two rooms, a nice kitchen, gas fireplace, DVD player, VCR, nice TV and a nice bathroom. That's it, for $150 one can just expect that in South Lake Tahoe. BUT!!!! There are other things, never mentioned by the ads:
1. Every morning during the week, at about 6 AM, there is a garbage truck coming in, very loud. It was so annoying that I have to put it in the first place, because it made my stay miserable.
2. On the mornings when there's no garbage truck, there is a lawn-mowing guy, also very loud. So forget about morning peace, it is just not happening!
3. There is a bed in the bedroom, it's all right. But don't even think of sleeping on the sofa in the living room. It's been two weeks since we came back home, and my back pain is just subsiding. Avoid sleeping on the sofa, believe me, you don't deserve that. It was slanted backwards, totally old and ruined.
4. There were two pillows on the sofa. Don't touch them!!! They are a souce of infections and who knows what diseases lurk in them - with the renovated room, they look so anachronistic that you won't believe it.
5. Forget about quiet sleep - there's always some water running somewhere, as if your neighbors don't close the tap... ever!!!
6. if that's not enough, let me tell you this - my 5 months old baby was sleeping poorly because when the guys above me flushed the toilet, it was a sound like an explosion.
7. If you happen to have a neighbor above, pray that he/she doesn't walk around during the night; the noise propagates through the walls in such a way that the walls act like amplifiers for any noise.
8. Forget about "views with pine trees" - that applies only if there are no cars parked in front of your window. Since there are cars there almost all the time, you won't have any of the views mentioned.
9. The water in the swiming pool was almost colder than lake Tahoe. Forget about a nice dip in the swimming pool. You can't swim seriously either, because there is a divider in the middle and you have to dive under it or move it.
10. The fridge could not be closed, so it was never cold. Therefore, forget about fridge. Why can't you close the fridge? Well, there's about 50 lb of ice in the deep-freeze part of it, it bulges out so that the deep-freeze door can't close, so the fridge stays open. Consequently, forget about using deep-freeze because it's full of ice.
11. Oh, have I mentioned that there's no A/C?

All in all, even though the room looked nice, it was not worth $150/night (that's weekday prices). I advise you to go somewhere else for that money.

Awful Place!!!!

from enicol
We have just got back from a 2 week trip round California which was fantastic...except this place!!!
The room was really dirty. The beds hadn't even been changed or rubbish cleared. We complained and couldn't move rooms - they just delivered new sheets which we then had to put on!!!! When we asked for a discount they said to speak to the manager in the morning. We did and were told they didn't give refunds and that we had to email when we returned home. Disgusting!! Dirty hotel and awful customer service. Don't waste your money.
