Great restaurants within driving distance There is a Ralph's market a few miles away like a Safeway/ Albertson's/ etc. They have fresh everything! Also, a place called "Fat Burger" has great burgers and rings for a really reasonable price. The Souplantation near Hyatt Regency Irvine was great.

Verizon Ampitheatre does not encourage responsible partying Wear sturdy shoes, prepare to walk and write your hotels address on your hand since there are more than one Hyatt around.

Avoid Corona Del Mar Beach on the weekend We visited Irvine and wanted to make a trip to the beach. We found Corona del Mar beach a little southwest of Irvine. It was a sunday afternoon in July and there was not a scrap of open beach to set down a towel, nor was there a scrap of skin on the people on the beach not covered with gang and prison tattoos. Our family did not feel safe at all. Definitely go North to Newport Beach, it's much more of a family atmosphere.
